seeing as you need 5wt for the damping circuit then gonna use 5wt for the lowers as well and at the same time will service the damping circuit as well!

mmmm i just looked at the SRAM website and it says you can use 5,10 or 15wt oil – i'm confused noew does it really matter for the lowers??

mmmm i think I will try there then, I only need 15ml for each leg so I suppose I will have plenty for future services!

Had this on my Pikes, electrical tape does the job – tightly wound on the springs!

I took a demo Tracer out one day, lowered the seat post and managed to bend the clamp just tightening it! WTF if I can bend a seat post clamp………….

I know Intense bikes ride well but I have seen to many cracked frames to give them a go!

Santa Cruz don't laquer over powdercoat either…… the likes of Specialized (ugh) laquer over there decals but there paint jobs are at best utter shite in comparison to powdercoating. I had a Rockhopper and paint used to come off in chunks at the first sign of contact with anything!

Why on earth would you buy cheap bearings when the Hope/SKF ones are only £4 anyway – mine have lasted 18 months in Scottish conditions

mmm would you like to elaborate? Where from?

oh dear looks like i have opened a can of worms!

Re: cheap bearings – i have gone through 2 sets of cheap bearings this year on my Front 20mm Pro2 – don't know if this is because of the cheap bearings or me fitting them with a socket – not the proper tool?

ok i got cheap bearings off ebay – should I have got decent bearings like SKF? just that SKF are 3 times as much?

i got my renewal and it was £430 compared to £390 for the last year (Nov 08-09). Don't bother with the comparison sites…..just try Aviva – I got mine for £293 – BARGAIN.

I ride my Heckler all year round in the Dark Peak, if local trails/sherwood etc them my HT comes out!

Don't understand a bike for 'winter'

I think we should try and ride the Beast… even if it means adding a little section on! Such an iconic decent, seems daft to miss it out, also I want to see how people ride it, then I know if i'm any good
Only ridden the Beast once and didn't think it was as hard as what people make out! Cavedale is harder! I would like to come on this but Im working this weekend – I'm free next weekend – typical eh!

nah always been working this weekend!

I don't want to put a downer on things but Heatherdene CP is a free one and as such will be pretty much be full by 10am – I have always used the Labybower Inn CP without problem – but I always go in for a post ride beer & chip butty afterwards!

    Just something to think about!

    Pook,

Your right the Ring Road is the best option – its only cos I know all the back streets to get through to the Uni/hospital!

lincoln eh. Just had a look on a map, this is the route i would suggest. A57 to worksop, a60 accross m1, chesterfield, b6051 to owler bar, b6055 to hathersage, then on to ladybower. You then miss all potential traffic. Ow yeh, sadex, did i sell you some shorts

DO NOT take this route, trust me I drive to the Dark Peak week in week out and this route adds 45-60 mins (and its a horrible road) Take the A57 all the way going straight through Sheffield City Centre – when you get to Park Square go SA into the city, follow signs for University/Hospital then you will pick up the A57 Glossop again.

TRUST ME on this I only did it yesterday!

hmmmm………im tempted to come along. unfortunately the 10am start on a saturday means negotiating sheffield at 9ish, which puts me off a bit.

you say this is going to be a regular thing? will it always be saturdays, or will there be any sundays as well? its about a 2hr drive for me, so quiet roads on a sunday morning pretty much essential.

    PO

sadexpunk, Im form Lincoln (N Hykeham) sadly I cant make this Saturday but any other weekend and in the week I can do! The Dark Peak is my normal ride, I take the A57 over dunham bridge and go right into city (normally on a week day) about 9, just follow signs for A57 Glossop (or university). The traffic is not that bad and I literally go through the centre. I leave my house at 830am and get into the CP at ladybower inn at 1015am.

if you want to share fuel costs etc and dont mind an average 41yr old on a Heckler then would be happy to meet for a ride!

PS just gone ghetto on the Heckler (DT5.1's, High Rollers & Stans Sealant) and been down Jacobs etc with no problems!

Tall Man – Did you get the replacement swing arm within the 2 year warranty period? Just that my Heckler is coming up to 2 years old in the spring – however i do check the swing arm area regular for cracks/fatigue. I'm 16st and regularly abuse it in the Peak District week in-week out!

What are Jungle Uk like for swing arms cracking out of the 2 year warranty period?

    cheers!

i know its off topic but the 2009 RP23 is shite!!!! The Fox Van R (£210 from TFtuned) will transform your Tracer like it had my mates, I am also putting one on my Heckler as the stock 2009 RP23 is absolutely shite as well and sounds like its got the same problem!

if the set from CRC are handbuilt then go for them – I had mine built at Sherwood Pinces Cycles – DT5.1, DT Comp Spokes, Brass Nipples, Hope Pro 2s, 20mm front – £243 an absolutley steal!

can you try and find a reputable local builder?

Been running ghetto tubeless for a few months now! Using standard dt 5.1 rims & wire-bead high rollers, stand tyre sealant, duck tape & an old inner tube valve. Only problem I had was on tyre went down over night so pumped it back up did a bit of shaking and it was fine! Only cost me £13 for the sealant so notmuch investment if it didn't work but it does very well!
