The Flow is only a good rim because its so wi-ide and hence makes big tyres wi-ider… and tyres are always the best thing to upgrade as they make the most difference.

when I called hope about the C456 they said a new bottom assembly was needed. I did think it was just a reducer at the time but maybe it wasn’t and they have changed it to one now? There is not a great deal of info out there (or there wasn’t) so I ended up with the Superstar one which came with both crown races and comes in either zero or 10-12mm lower stack.

Your best bet is probably speak to 18bikes, they are probably the best Hope dealer in the UK and anything they don’t about headsets isn’t worth knowing – they can all Hope parts separate so you can get a headset to your requirements – the reducer is quite new i think

Hope do some ‘mix and match’ type headsets where you pick the top and bottom cups separatly. If you then change the fork to a tapered fork you just buy a new bottom cup and bearing etc.

Not strictly true! I have a SC Butcher I have a hope Tapered headset with a zero stack 1 1/8 top cup and a 1.5 external bottom cup…. I ran a 1 1/8 fork so I used a Hope reducer in the bottom cup, since then I have now got a tapered fork and run it without a reducer…. no need to get another bottom cup.

after servicing the headset, and curing an annoying creak everytime i put pressure on the bars…..i thought that was the end of that….

How did you cure this? I have an annoying creak just like this around the Head Tube (SC Butcher), it is a Hope Tapered Headset?

My employer (Kimberly Clark) were very understanding when my sister took her life. They said 1 week compassionate leave is the norm, but I had 3 weeks off and when I returned to work they put it down as 3 weeks compassionate leave on full pay. Also they are very good for things like funerals/family emergencies etc.

I had some Boston Acoustics mid range units & tweeters.

Tweeters on the dash (they had a base that enabled you to perfect the positioning), mid units in doors all powered by an Alpine 6CH amp that also powered some Infinity 6x9s on the rear shelf. Sounded amazing!

Those were the days driving around in my MK1 Golf GTI with the Prodigy blasting out!
