In the last 12 months I became a father for the first time to a beautiful little girl, my relationship with her Mum broke up, I met someone else who is amazing and I bought a Santa Cruz Butcher so a mixed bag really!

Kashima doesn’t look anything like the colour in the adverts – just bought two new 2011 Kashima forks and the stanchions look the virtually the same colour as pre-kashima forks.

i got some 2012 Fox Van 36 RC2 kashimas and they look like the adeverts

On my heckler yes, on my trance x no

I had an RP23 on my 2008 Heckler, waste of money as the Float R does does the same job as the RP23 minus the Pro Pedal…. all Santa Cruz air shocks come with a Low Compression tune so no need for the Pro Pedal.

When I sold my Heckler and upgraded to a Butcher I just went for the Float R, and the bike climbs pretty good with no need for Pro Pedal. With the Pro Pedal OFF the RP23 & Float perform identical.

All in all a great Air Shock!

I have done yes, but its very basic! Is compression meant to be adjusted throughout a ride? Does it need constant fettling?

    .75 means new chain

1.0 means new chain & cassette… i normally get 2-3 chains per cassette

this is how I have been doing it for years

you can get PC 971 chains on ebay for £13-15 & XT cassettes £45 so its no big deal

Mine is built up to 32lbs in it’s current guise. Changing to DH tyres it copes admirably on DH uplifts, thrashes most full on DH rigs! Also take it on 6 hr Peak jaunts, done the Dyfi enduro, trail-quest – you name it – bike is ‘fookin ace!

    is that with the CCDB??

what is the weight of an 18″ frame?

Just the price is soo expensive for what is essentially a single pivot – a Nomad costs the same but with VPP, I have always been a Santa Cruz fan, so I would have to test it against my Butcher, but the Rear Maxle, Sinlge Pivot simplicity is winning it for me.

Have a look at the setup guide to see if it helps:

Thanks Simon, I decided to write off the damaged Sektors and treat myself to the 36’s, just need a 32mm socket off you for the LH top cap but you have been closed?

I bought a pair of 2012 36 VAN RC2 FIT a few weeks ago, they are a lovely gold colour but not as dark as i thought they would be – but still pleased – just trying to find the sweet spot with all the compression settings I still dont really understand them!

A mate of mine with two kids moved out recently. His wife changed the locks within a few days and he is still paying the mortgage plus she has hit him with a CSA letter. She earns more than him.

The women are always the winners!

Mooly, have you parental responsibility? (not that it means jack shit), seeing as your not married the situation with the house ownership is a little bit more favourable than if you were married!

I was in this situation at Xmas, but my daughter was only 3 months old, I spent 4 weeks on the Sofa and to tell you the truth the atmosphere in the house was not very nice. The relationship was long dead way before my daughter was born. I was fed up with her moaning about my friends, biking money etc etc – she humiliated me in front of her friends & family – I tried to talk to her but it always resulted in more domestic abuse – physical & mental.
The house is jointly owned, but I left the house back in January – yes times have been tough but Im starting to get my life back on track.

with 99.9% of the population carrying mobile phones 24/7 these days it kind of baffles me why anyone ever wears a watch at all.

Because maybe people riding their bikes want to quickly check the time by looking at a wristwatch instead hunting through their camelbak and you have to stop as well!

I am looking at a new watch for biking just for this purpose. something cheap & sporty looking so the g-shock looks good for this!

had no problem with my high rollers single ply, but as I said the sidewalls are starting to fray and I have ripped one on a crash on cutgate path.

just trying to see my options,
