I have worked for a US corporate for years and our yearly bonus is dictated by business results, our bonus this year which is paid in Decemebr was 4.2% of our annual salary, so judging by all the replies above I feel extremely lucky, and we still get a 2% pay rise each year too…. However our final salary scheme is now capped at 1% increase, so in effect not in line for annual pay rises, but overall we are very well looked after.

    Kennyp where do you ride?
It’s a great trail bike that pedals really well and can take the abuse if things get rough. I definitely would not call it a free ride bike. I have set up tubeless with Flow rims and it rollls really well and is wash to pedal.

I wouldn’t bother with the RP23 upgrade, the bikes pedals that well with a Float R.

Here’s mine in size L I’m 5,11 and fits me fine.

It pedals very well up, I have the standard fox float r shock with a low compression tune so there is no bob whatsoever if your smooth on the pedals when climbing. Downhill are loads of fun even better with 36s on the front. I love mine and can’t see me changing for a long time to come. I owned a Heckler before, like the Butcher even more than the Heckler.

I’ve got two pairs of these DHB padded roubaix 3/4s and they work great.

    £43 a throw.

Haven’t tried the Raphas but I do like their sportwool jerseys, clean quality that fits brilliantly.

I’m thinking of getting some of these for my riding in the dark peak with a pair of baggies…. Not bad for the money is it really worth spending any more? I’m just gonna match them up with some some Endura Singletack shorts, baa baa bas layer, jersey and jacket, I like the fact that when my jersey/base layer rides up my back the tights will keep my back draught free.

Cycling a fork not fitted to a bike almost will always feel terrible!

Ok maybe just rephrase that to company

Say no more then, I would rather have him do it than MOJO & TFT
loco being an ex employee of both….

Does that make a difference? Would rather support a guy working for himself than a big company!

There is nothing a custom tune can’t do that would warrent getting the push tune

I agree….. Had a new shim stack in a Float R on an APP SC Butcher, the bike blows me away now, best £60 i have spent!

So I serviced the shock and put one of the compression/air-can adjuster shims in and now the shock does just what I want.

it really does depend on what rear-suspension set up you have (FSR, Single Pivot, VPP, APP)

Also another factor is you need to take into consideration what tune your shock has come with out of the factory (compression, rebound – low/medium/high?)

You will not go far wrong talking to Simon at Loco Tuning…… great informative chap!

Every girl likes a diamond solitaire, you can’t go far wrong!

I’m with a few posters, when you ask her you need to present her with a bit of bling? And girls love a bit of bling.

They have got them on Amazon for £14 so may order one, the reviews of it on there are 90% favourable with Mach 3 blades so looks like it could be a good investment with the price of razor blades so high.

    SBrock

Shall we start a thread on what the best razor/blades are?

Use one of these and any blade feels better and lasts for ages. I reckon I get a couple of months of daily shaving out of a Mach 3

    http://www.mankind.co.uk/razorpit-razor-blade-sharpener/10366474.html

I can’t recommend it highly enough, it is the absolute b*ll*cks

    Is it really that good???

I nearly faint at the price of razor blades, how does it work?

I used to use Somersets Oil, always gave me the closest shave, but as someone has said it really clogs your razor up. I have tried loads of different shaving creams and now I use The Real Shaving Co. shave cream now and it’s a really nice comfortable shave. Also I have tried all the latest razors like Gilette Fusion etc etc but found they didn’t last long and weren’t as comfortable as the original Mach 3, so I just use Mach 3 now and the blades are cheaper!

Shall we start a thread on what the best razor/blades are?

You had a Heckler then a Nomad, surely you are pretty good up SC geometry??

Did you sell your Nomad?…. Lovely colour I wanted one!

Depends on how you do it. if you buy new parts you are going to pay through the nose for them but you can get very good 2nds for over 50% off new stuff.

I built my P7 with seconds and I think it would have cost double had I used new parts (the frame was new mind).

Too true picked up the Stylo double cranks for £55 new, you just have to look, look, look and be savvy! Elixir CR brakes off STW classifieds £120 new…..bloody bargain!

looking for something very similar mate, very nice indeed too.
never bought a full bike, always built my own, like you say, it is very satisfying.

A Heckler would be a good start!

I don’t think I will ever buy a complete bike ever again!

I like certain stuff like SRAM gears/shifters, hope hubs, Thomson posts/stems etc!

Yes, it’s more costly, but you have a bike you don’t need to upgrade, just replace worn/broken components!

Built this for £3400′ lots of parts were bought off eBay, merlin, wiggle etc! Paid full RRP for frame & fork though (£2200)

A lot of satisfaction though building your own bike though, I love building bikes!

Butcher was heavier than a 575, but in all honesty the weight makes no difference to me, it’s how we’ll it pedals and i run Flows tubeless, the geometry of the Butcher was better for me.

    SBrock

aP, I would agree with that analogy, the 575 and Butcher are both great bikes, I just preferred the Butcher, as fars as I’m concerned both are Boutique bikes!!!

I have found that I use my iMac less now and the iPad more, had mine 3 months and it still gets used everyday for several hours, it great to take to work on boring night shifts to watch movies, check email, check STW etc etc.

    *****Hijack alert******
Does anyone know of any good deals on the ipad on at the mo?
It would appear that Apple have implented some sort of price fix on them.
*****Hijack over & apols to OP*****

Last Friday was black Friday apple were doing 16 gb ipad2 for £368′, back up to £399 now! You probably won’t find many discounted ones as apple know then don’t need to discount to sell them.

Had my iPad 2 for over a month now and can’t recommend one enough, it gets used everyday. FaceTime works well as does Skype both of which imuse regularly.

The key to good service is communication. If a product is out of stock or there’s a delay let the customer know this ASAP, so many shops fail in doing this it’s no wonder there are so many disgruntled customers

Hope they said they sent 2 headsets out none of which turned up, I know we are at the mercy of Royal Mail, but waiting 10 days to get the bike of your dreams was frustrating to say the least.

On a positive note this was probably a one-off and I love there stuff – M4 brakes, Pro2 Evo Hubs, Tapered Headset, BB decorate my bike!

Perhaps Hope are out of stock of the brakes as normally stuff seems to get to my LBS really quickly from Hope when I’ve got them to order stuff in for me.

Not true Hope took 10 days to get a taper headset to my LBS, made it worse as my new build was ready minus the headset!
