I love my Butcher too, test rode a 5AM also, preferred the Butcher, felt it climbed as well as the 5AM but felt so much better pointing down and was cheaper than a 5AM frame, also has routing for a dropper post and ISCG05 mounts.

I think the speakers were £150 in 1986, so that’s about £350 in modern money, but no idea how good they are….

It doesn’t work like that really, you can get better kit for your money than what you did 25 years

Recently my 25 year old Technics SU600a Amp died, so I replaced it with a Marrantz PM6004 Amp, which sounds much better…

You answered your question your self there fella!

    SBrock

Yes most definitely, the Marantz amp you have bought is a pretty decent amp too, even something under £200 will give you a step up in performance!

Dali Zensor 1, Mission MX2, Q Acoustics 2020i all under £200 and would match your amp and outperform your old speakers, budget for some decent speaker cable to something like QED Silver XT.

    Enjoy!

Coil shock on a Pitch is awesome!

If it were me I’d be going for the Pitch, god knows why Spesh have discontinued it, not the nicest looking back but rides a hell of a lot better than they look! I actually liked my old Pitch Pro im brown.

I’m surprised there are any left, I think the 2011 Pitch Pro, if it’s reduced is a steal, and you know your gonna get looked after with the warranty/after sales service.

The edges on the sockets are chamfered, you run the risk of compromising the integrity of the seals, using the correct tools will prevent this.

I learnt the hard way, used a socket bit a month later the bearings were shot as the seals had been damaged.

Just buy the whole PRO2 tool kit, got mine from18bikes think they are about £20′ like previous people have said it makes your life so much easier.

That’s where brands like Santa Cruz come up trumps, I wanted to demo a Butcher, so my nearest SC dealer got Jungle (SC uk distrubutor) to send there demo Butcher to them, I paid £50 deposit, I had the bike all weekend, ok it back Monday and ordered a frame and they refunded the £50!

I admit to buying a SC Butcher frame on 0% finance over 12 months, only a few months to go now…..better than putting it on my credit card!

    SC Nickel owners
What other bikes did you consider and why did you reject themin favour of the Nickel ??

Head over to MTBR and look in the Santa Cruz section, there is loads of info from Nickel owners there, I have a SC Buthcer I know it’s a bit more burly than a Nickel, but all the Nickel owners I know wanted a relatively short travel bike that pedalled well which took a bit of abuse, also the Nickel is relatively slack and goes well with a 130mm fork.

Compared to a Camber they are not cheap, but your are buying into the Santa Cruz brand and you won’t see many about.

People who have mailed Loco and not had a reply can always ring him, I guess he is busy and in all honesty I had a few questions to ask him and think it was easier and quicker actually talking to him.

Did you get my enquiry about my Reba’s with the dodgy rebound that need a service, sent via your contact us page about a week ago?

Hey Andy Im surprised you haven’t had a go yourself ? Once you get all the tools/oils and watch/read a few service videos/articles it is pretty easy.

I serviced my old Pikes and changed the spring, done a few seal/lube services on my RP23 And same on my Van RC2 FIT.

However I am sending my Rear Shock off to Loco to be re-shimmed for a M tune and damper service.

I do not remember how the accident happened

This is normal i think, had a bad crash on Cut Gate path – was doing 40mph and next thing i knew i was over the handlebars, pretty nasty accident but was lucky with my injuries just a few cuts, grazes & 2 broken ribs. However i managed to bend a stanchion on a Lyrik, only very slightly but the fork needed a new CSU.

When its happening it is pretty frightening everything seems to be in slow motion!

Nice to know people stopped to help, and your ok!

I got a 4s last week through USwitch website, through dial a phone on orange.

Phone was free, £36 pm unlimited text, 600 mins, 500 gb data, 241 cinema

Basically dial a phone are the middle man, but all online management, direct debit is through Orange.

    Can’t fault it.

Sold mine (2010) for a Heckler. No regrets but the Pitch was a good bike and it would be nice to have both now.

Same here as well, had an 08 Pro, ran it for a year then got an 08 Heckler, currently on an 11 Butcher with 36s.

All 3 bikes are great but the Butcher is my favourite!

safari was regularly locking up when browsing fb, other apps still worked fine, but once safari had locked it wouldn’t work on other sites too

You shoul be using the Facebook app, not safari for FB, I have never had safari crash on my 4s or iPad, you must have a suspect phone.

I know what you mean about the size of the screen, ive had a desire for 2 years, so it’s taken a while to get used to tescreen but I like it now, the build quality is way above Samsung, the iPod function is the best of any smartphone, the camera is superb, the iCloud is brilliant especially if you have other iOS devices.

Stick with it I would say.

how are you getting on with it? Have been looking at these a lot.

I love it perfect for the Dark Peak, climbs well with no pedal bob, just the right head angle too slightly slacker than a heckler with a 150mm fork, a bit slacker with a 160mm. Lovely bike on the descents, tabs for a chain device etc etc.

Plenty of people of people mtbr have them, check out the Santa Cruz section. Loads of pics&builds on there

“to replace a 60a High roller on the rear “
What will you have up front?
for eg 2.35″ HR up front with a 2.3″ Eskar on the back will tip the bike forward a bit as eskars are noticably bigger

    POSTED 2 HOURS AGO # REPORT-POST

Gonna put an eskar on the front, too is that a bad idea?

All the people I know that own SC Blurs seem to get through bearings at an unreasonable rate, so I’d tend towards a single pivot from them.

Dunno why people bang on about bearing life on SC bikes, FFS they off free replacements for life!
