As much as I’d have loved to get off my bike & discuss the matter reasonably with the dog, I think by the time I’d slowed to a stop & actually gotten off it’d have bitten me about 5 times. The owners were about 100 yards away (distance increasing rapidly) waddling after it, so I wasn’t really factoring in a) they being able to get to it & control it or b) being able to get to me to deliver said smack in chops.

If I become a direct target I react, but if they’re just getting on with what they’re doing with intentionally targetting me then well, that’s just the way they are and getting upset about it is only upsetting me which is pretty daft when I can smile and find it all quite amusing instead.
