How long before we get ‘I used to work for some expensive audio speaker manufacturer’

Then this post will be complete

    Mission.

This entire thread is pointless when the majority of you will be using your expensive hifi to listen to absolutely appalling quality mp3s.

What exactly is supposed to happen in that situation (i.e. insurance pays out then bike is later recovered?)

    Bike becomes property of insurers.

Firstly, I do not burglarise, I burgle.
    Secondly, I do not burgle.

Re-appropriate goods is a much friendlier turn of phrase.

At the risk of sounding a bit, you know, “stalker-ish” I can work out from your photos to within about 4 houses of where you live.

I can get it spot on, but then I sometimes drink just up the road and I think I’ve been in his next door neighbour’s property. :-)

I don’t see the article as giving an excuse for bad observation, I see it as explaining why one needs to consciously observe correctly.

I don’t hate fat bikes, just don’t think they are for me.

    Is my position acceptable?

Going direct to their insurer may keep the overall cost of the claim down which is good as we all pay for all accidents.
The real shitter is that you will now have to declare the claim for the next five years, which will almost certainly up your premium, even though it wasn’t your fault and it wasn’t you who claimed.

I will click on “skip advert now” the millisecond I can

How do you get rid of the ads?
I don’t actually get them on my PC, but don’t know why. :?

It has also been about twenty years since you could buy a mass produced car with a carburettor.

    Are you serious?

    Assuming you are not trolling…

All the power from the battery comes from burning petrol.
To get energy from water using this method, it takes more energy in petrol than you will produce from the water.

Net energy loss is the result.

Static contact patch is proportional to the system weight divided by tyre pressure. Dynamic contact patch increases with wider and/or larger diameter tyres. There’s a reason supercars have bigger tyres than superminis.

    Yep.
By reducing tyre width but increasing wheel size, contact patch is maintained but drag is reduced.

Why do people think 29rs have a bigger tyre contact patch size?

The size of the contact patch is related to the pressure in the tyre and the weight of the bike+rider, not the size of the wheel. Do 29r tyres tend to be run at lower pressures than 26r tyres?

Contact patch is related to the size of the wheel. The bigger the wheel, the bigger the contact patch.

never been too fussed about the HD revolution tbh..

Now TVs are six times the size they need to be, HD is necessary to bring the quality back to that of an old CRT.

Stick with what you have. FLAT PEDALS HAVE NO FLOAT.

BUT FLAT PEDALS AND NORMAL SHOES ALLOW YOU TO MOVE YOUR FEET AROUND, HAVING THE SAME EFFECT AS FLOAT.

Flat pedals certainly won’t hurt, give them a go.

I’d just like to add that I cured a couple of Jehovah’s Witnesses.
In one case I was very glad as his little brother later “came out”, so he still had support within the family.

    I know, I’m just too **** nice.

    I have three questions.

Which one is guilty of the fallacy?
What fallacy is it that they are guilty of?
Why are they guilty of it?

The atheist (depending on personal definition).
That they can prove the negative.
    Because they can’t.

    No, these people are Agnostics.

I was trying to keep it simple, for the sake of below:

    Nonsense.

    Really?
Both atheism and agnosticism are positions of ignorance, one because it is a logical fallacy, the other by open admission.

I think that’s a monumentally arrogant stance, TBH. You’re assuming that a position of atheism is a position of ignorance, which may be true for some but most certainly isn’t a blanket statement you can apply to everyone.

Amusingly, atheism is a position of ignorance.
Some people are happy to hold their hands up and comfortably state that they do not know the reason for existence (if there is one), these people are atheists.
Some people are terrified of that thought and simply refuse to admit the possibility of it and invent/latch onto the crutch that is god.

I use the word invent as THERE IS NO EVIDENCE THAT A GOD EXISTS.

I only learnt of it’s 60mph limit when some ravers parked their cars on it and the police said it was foolish on a road with 60 limit.

How is that not a dual carriageway?
Policemen often make mistakes, my friend was once pulled over for doing 38 in a 40 (officer thought it was a 30 limit).

I can just imagine if the JS thread was linked to other religions (Judaism, Islam) or races, there would be all sorts of accusations flying about re discrimination. But open season on other religions it seems.

I will happily denigrate Islam and the way it is taught in this country if you want.
Unlike the majority of middle class Guardian reading hand wringers that frequent this forum, I’ve been to mosque many times so my dislike is borne from reality and fact, not Daily Wail hysteria (I have never seen a muslamic ray gun).

Can any of the Xtians on here explain why God doesn’t like gayers? I mean is he really that bothered?

God created man in his own image, so I’m guessing he is the last of the great deniers.

But I do what I do for “religious reasons”, so if these have no place in society, then it would require someone with a different motivation to come along and fill the gap. If you convince me that there is no underlying purpose to our existence, then there’s very little rationale for me doing anything ‘nice’ or ‘charitable’ even if you can disentangle what these might mean in a purely subjective frame of reference.

    So you’re basically a psychopath?

Slightly off topic but I am the only one who finds it a reflection of government priorities that it sends me a reminder to pay my car tax for free, but wont send me a reminder to have the road worthiness of my car checked without charging me a fee.

Nope, we now have an entire nation that is totally devoid of any sense of responsibility, it isn’t just you. ;)

No MOT does not invalidate insurance.
Your car can be roadworthy or unroadworthy with or without an MOT, so why would it?
At worst, in case of total loss an insurer may reduce the payout as a car with no MOT is less valuable than one with.

Always loved the freedom of cycling but on a road bike you are limited to the roads, so bought my first MTB in ’93, a GT Tequesta.
