Are we allowed put the cyclepassion calendar up in a workshop then? or THE victoria pendleton poster??

    A BRITISH CYCLIST!!!!!

    You horrible patriotic jingoistic bastard!

Seriously though, there are obviously so many emasculated office workers in here it makes me want to cry.
Well, it would do if I spent my entire day pushing a pencil around a desk and having to be all “modern” and have “feelings” so I don’t upset the skirt wearers.

Ps. tpbiker: It’s my day off.

Around my way a lot of congestion is deliberately caused to encourage people to use public transport.
No tin foil hat required, I’ve seen documented proof of this thinking.

Wow for once I agree with molgrips. I find it incredibly stupid this attitude that lots of people have where unless you lead a completely ethically pure lifestyle (is that even possible?) you have no right to care about anything.

That wasn’t exactly what I was trying to say, but I can’t be arsed to rephrase it all.
I is slow at typings. :-)

And so the BS bingo begins

I was joking; I don’t give a monkey’s what people choose to eat, or not eat (I for instance do not eat fungus).

What I don’t like though is the real bullshit of people using their choices to attempt to gain some sort of ethical or moral highground.

Our lifestyles are not ecologically sound, and I have met no-one who is prepared to return to a more basic way of living which is.

Who here is willing to give up their PCs/TVs/Cars/Bicycles/Mobiles/Cheap comfortable clothing?

    No-one.

Unless you’re prepared to do that, then it’s bullshit and quite frankly you can cock off (not you personally, Junkyard! ).

Palm oil, Junkyard? Look it up. Terrible stuff.

Milk a cow or decimate an entire ecosystem?
    Tough choice.

See, you’re wrong there too. Big Macs are goooooooood

You see fortunately, as you think Big Macs taste goooooooood, your opinion is worthless and needs not to be considered. :P

Bacon, rocket, tomato, Morrocan style hummous, in a pitta.
    Like a posh BLT.
What kind of slack jawed faggots know how many calories are in a meal, unless you’re trying to beat a record?

WRT to snobbery and McD’s, I don’t eat there because the food tastes like shit. That’s as far as the thought process needs to go.

My brother got a coin stuck up his nose, I had someone shoot a spud gun point blank up my nose.
    That made the eyes water.

So drivers who have broken the speed limit and been caught – possibly repeatedly

I believe the speed awareness course is only offered for the first offence in any three year period, so prolific speeders will get points.

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Road_traffic_safety

Shows only Finland as having less deaths per mile driven, though I appreciate the list is not exhaustive.

Lying? Not at all – legally answered the questions.
In my case the points had expired for almost two years and had been removed almost a year.
I had no obligation to declare anything but the “industry requires” 5yrs for nothing more than loading of premiums.
First time was 2 DAYS! Before the 5yr point and the second 3 months afterwards.
Am I expected to be penalised for that? Or do you think it’s acceptable to be shafted without any legal basis?

The legal basis is that you are two parties forming a contract, except you’re telling fibs on your part.
Believe it or not, you have breached the contract.
I’ll put this simply as you are obviously a simpleton.
You tell lies = no insurance.

So you were lying to get cheaper insurance?

Legally not required but because they can – they will and do demand what they actually have no right to :-/

They can ask what they like, you don’t have to answer.

Assuming steak and a BJ are already in the bag, I’d go for the tyres but then I’ve always preferred Shimano.

To SRAM, good god! Steak and a BJ always comes up trumps.

This a mountain biking forum, you live in Malvern and are asking about sitting in a sweaty room pedalling on the spot?

    Shame on you!
    Get out and cycle.

There are very few electrical items one should have in a bedroom. A TV is not one of them.

Talking of posting body hair, I’m reminded of the time I shaved off my imperial moustache and posted the abundance of coarse fur to a friend in Brighton, who was, yes, a homosexual.

He transformed my hair into an intriguing piece of modern art.

I can only think that I mentioned his sexuality as some sort of distraction, as it bears no relevance to the tale.

Talking of stalking, are you the Hora from PH?

If you fancy stepping it up a notch, I’ve got an envelope full of pubic hair I had returned, unopened, from Lorraine Kelly going spare.

It’s brown with the odd ginger tinge.

So you stalk someone famous but you’re a better person because you do it quietly?
It’s not even proper stalking you coward. I bet you’re the kind of bloke that pops to the local independant newsagent for some good old fashioned top shelf grot and comes out with a copy of FHM.

i’ve even offered to help them reduce their machining costs.

as in, i’m totally serious, e-mail in profile, etc.

Are you going to machine it for them or just supply them with free arrogance?

    Malvern Classics.
I fell into a ditch face first as I was too drunk to walk.
The weight of beer in my rucksuck meant I couldn’t get up.
Fortunately my friends had foreseen such an incident and fitted me with flashing lights so I could (and was) easily found in case of misadventure.

Swarf (metal “wastage” from machining) is a commodity.
I’ve made components where the profit came from selling the swarf, so describing it as abject waste is silly.

TBH, I wasn’t that against the bike, but then I saw the close up of the headtube and the ropey machining behind it.
    Sort out yer bullnose!

I only weigh 12.5 stone but I am completely talentless on a bike and can break any wheel you give me.
My experience as a semi-professional wheel breaker tells me that most spoke breakages occur at the hub.
I have no idea if this information is useful.

Exploding wheels? That’s the best piece of anti-29er propaganda I’ve heard yet.

I rode a 29er once and it gave me the bad AIDS.

So with the popularity increase in the purchase of s/h bike parts fuelling cycle theft, how do those of you that buy s/h ensure you’re buying legit?
Do you always ask for receipts?

    Maybe an urban myth.

I do know that you can be given points for non-motoring offences…

If by “do you ride a high horse type of bike?” you mean “do I continually strive to raise my standards of cycling/driving/riding”, then yes.

Or maybe I’m afforded such a magnificent view from my lofty steed I simply find it easier to spot, and avoid, potential trouble.

Of course, there are some **** out there that are going to plough into you no matter what your course of action is, save staying in, and even that is no guarantee judging by the mismatched brickwork on the house up the road that is situated on the outside of a bend.

    Stay safe kids.

Ps. I do sometimes make mistäkes, you know.

    sbob

Interested in how you come to this conclusion.

    Here you go:

In 99% of the youtube videos I’ve seen the cyclist seems to be looking straight ahead

    Easy!

perhaps you’re mistaking ‘observation’ for ‘Oh, there’s a car who wants to pull out/get past so I best get out of the way’?

Perhaps you’re mistaking crashing and being hit, because if you can avoid it, there is little difference.

I’d wager the average city commuter has much better observation than someone who cycles rural country lanes on a sunny Sunday.

I’d wager you have no idea what you’re talking about. :-)

    sbob

I don’t commute, which is where you probably get your greatest concentration of bad driving: people rushing to work late/eager to get home/pissed off by the emasculation of an office job, et cetera.
I also don’t live in London (Cambridgeshire, as someone asked).

I do think I have a much greater awareness than a lot of cyclists who post vids on youtube however, the endemic lack of observation is quite worrying.

Had DMs years ago and the soles didn’t last.
Just had to bin some Timberland Chelsea boots after more years ownership than I would have expected as I walk a lot, and would get another pair if they still made them.

I wouldn’t have looked at a “fashionable” brand like Timberland but was having trouble finding an ordinary pair of Chelsea/Dealer boots and the leather was so soft you could tell it was a baby cow that gave its life for my feet. 8)

or maybe sbob he’s just spent so long riding our roads and has come to the conclusion that human life really is of less value than a car to some people

I must be doing something wrong as in my 30+ years of riding, I’ve only ever had one car load of knobbers deliberately trying to cause me grief, and have yet to encounter a driver making a mistake that I could not make allowances for.

Having said that, I do not wear a helmet cam and never use the phrase “primary position”…

If you genuinely took my post seriously, the post where I inferred that human life is of less value than my car, then you need help my friend.
Or at least a little guidance.

Someone cuts you up when you’re on a bike – You could end up in hospital or dead.
Someone cuts you up when you’re driving – Probably some minor damage to the car.

The chances of being killed are bloody slim, so we are left with some personal injury vs damage to car.

Well my car is **** expensive, yet I heal for free, so where do you stand now with your questionable morals, eh?
    EH?
