The evidence is mounting and it does make you look like a right hand-shandyist Andy, so I’d wind your neck if I was you.

It’s not that easy to get a job in today’s climate, and even harder to get one that you’ll enjoy.
Stick with the job until you find a better one, and enjoy every moment of smug when you hand your notice in. :-)

How would pay rent/bills with no job?

In fact, how do you pay rent/bills on 20hrs a week?

Look, they’re two metal platforms with pins sticking out centred around an axle.
    They are essentially the same.
I’d go with whichever pedal looked and felt the best; are the bearings smooth without play, has the casting/machining been finished to a high enough standard?

Apologies if you are a woman and your decision making ability is inherently missing; it’s not your fault love, buy the red ones.

Either I’ve not driven 5h1t auto’s for a while or you’ve not driven good ones. They just do it for you.

Yes of course an auto always knows whether you want to slowly coast or use maximum engine breaking.

The other option is that you’re talking out of your Botham.

    Road riding is about pedalling.

    And handling and bottle.

If your road riding is about bottle, you shouldn’t be doing it on the bloody road.

Pros: faster on road than a MTB.

Cons: not as fast as a car, boredom, erectile dysfunction.
    :P

I’d probably still ride road if I didn’t live in East Anglia, an area devoid of hills and scenery.

    has a manual override

Pretty pointless in a decent auto and once you are use to the car you know exactly how hard to ‘stab’ the pedal to kick-down.

And when wanting to hold a lower gear to maintain control when descending a steep hill?
    Time for a brush up, b r. :-)

Halfords may do the cheapest MOT (£30), but if the car needs any work doing they will charge full whack for the partial retest (£22.50?) on top.
I know this as my O/H’s motor needed some minor work.
The work was carried out by another garage for 1/4 of the price Halfords quoted.
Halfords then passed the car when it should have failed on something they were aware of!
    Bag o’ shite.

    ETA: actually that was Kwik-Fit.
    My brother doesn’t recommend Kwik-Fit, and he’s a mechanic.

If LP are running out of parts, then it suggests to me that they made an error estimating how reliable there bikes are…

I hope you’re not suggesting that French manufacturing is diabolically poor, and is rivalled only by their after sales service?

Now I’m going to have to whip up a full blown kallu shappu style dinner, with parotta as well.

We don’t need euthanasia to reduce the state burden, but whoever came up with the idea of slipping contraceptives into spaghetti hoops needs a medal, and the sooner we implement it the better.

    uprated illegal crossbow

Been a few years since I was savvy with these laws, but how can a crossbow be illegal?

Unless he’d uprated the bow string with panda urethra I don’t remember there being any limits on crossbows with exception to age of ownership and use for hunting.

From the image, the right hand side is definitely higher, and that’s a problem.

Only if the bottom of the head tube is perfectly square to the bore of the bearing seat, and it doesn’t need to be.

It’s not really possible to say, without knowing Canyon’s production methods.
The important bit is whether or not it is seated properly at the other side of the bearing, which will be a bit hard to tell now.

50 odd mph down a mountain in Scotland.
    On a rigid hire bike.
Wearing shorts and T shirt. :D
    (I was young)

Road bike I only ever managed just over 40mph; not many hills in my yard.

Us in the business call it “aluminium”, it falls somewhere between Brie and Camembert wrapped in tinfoil.

How does their speed affect the gap between them and the following vehicle? Surely if it’s yer average knobber that thinks a 6 ft gap is good at NSL, then slowing down to (e.g) 30mph will see them drop that gap to a still very unsafe 3ft?

If you are tailgated, the only course of action is to gently reduce speed so that you both can stop in the distance you can see is (and reasonably expect to remain) clear ahead of you.
If the tailgater reduces the gap, keep reducing your speed.

Harsh and totally unreasonable statment to make, is the OP not entitled to a life outside of work?

Yes, it is a little harsh, and yes the OP is entitled to a life outside work.
Which he’ll have. He’s doing shiftwork not being forced down t’pit for 26hrs a day.

Maybe the company, due to the nature of the business, cannot produce the rota with greater notice?
Sounds like the OP doesn’t want the job anyway, so I’m sure it won’t be a problem for long.

This is why you need unions

    No it isn’t.
If the OP wants to plan out his life weeks in advance, he should get a 9-5 job and not go in for shift work.

except your liver now has to deal with the alcohol as well as metabolising what you eat into glycogen to replace what you used up. if alcohol was more effective than other fluids then i’m sure all the pro teams would use it as part of their recovery programs.

What happens if I claim 2 billion died do we up the estimate ?

No, because we’re using the modal average. :-)

Is this something we really need to argue about?
Millions of people were killed, and in a way it’s sweet and positive that the OP has trouble getting his head around it.

If you can pull that one phrase out from the body of evidence presented you’re obviously a troll. Will walk away.

I’m a troll for quoting your “evidence” (which is in the main opinion. Nothing wrong with that but don’t pretend it’s fact)?

Sounds more like you’ve just embarrassed yourself.

I presume you’ve read the 2009 paper, The non-linearity of risk and the promotion of environmentally sustainable transport?

The bit I quoted six posts up.
Do you really think that having less motorists and more cyclists will maintain or decrease road safety?

The bearings in my V8s are a bit ropey now, despite regular stripping and re-greasing they’ve only lasted 12 years.

(Loctite 7840 degreaser, Finish Line grease)

If the bearings are tight from the factory, they’ll wear quickly and your pedals won’t last.
Whip ’em apart, clean and degrease, repack with good quality grease and they’ll last. You can’t do that with V12s, they just wear.
Degreaser and lube are cheaper than new bearings and bushes.

Great drive, plenty of space and you could pick up a mint low miler for that budget.

Ps. the uprated head gasket kit for the K costs £70, just so you know for next time.

I’m struggling to understand how having less motorists and more cyclists will maintain or decrease road safety. :?

ETA: it’s ok; I’ve read your link and it agrees with me:

“Cycling gets safer the more people do it.”

I think this is generally true.
