@tpbiker They do but you have to go via the help page for a specific product (eg instinct solar ;). It’s at the bottom. The chap who I spoke to yesterday was fine about looking into order issues.

I’ve just got through on the live chat and been told my order is “under review” as it’s still being processed. I queried what “under review” means and it’s just in a queue to be dispatched by the warehouse staff. So my fingers remain crossed.

These are great articles. Really enjoy reading about how inclusive riding really can be.

Got a ZTTO 11spd shifter and mech for my turbo bike to replace an old 9 speed set up. It’s a bit grumbly, and required a goat link to work with the SRAM 11-42 cassette I used but for £32 I cannot complain.

This is adorable. And surely a contender for world’s most expensive balance bike.

The Met Office radar is your best bet for nowcasting (beyond looking out of the window).

I tend to use Epic Ride Weather if I’ve got a longer route in mind and the weather looks changable. You give it a route (via strava/komoot/ridewithgps/uploading a gpx), tell it when you’re setting off and how fast you’ll be going, and it will work out the forecast weather at each point of your ride at the time you expect to be there. Pretty neat. I think you can use it a few times for free but it’s not much per year if it takes your fancy.

Top banana folks, that’s very useful. Our garden isn’t giant (7x19m based on a bit of striding) so don’t really need anything super powerful.

Good shout with the Worx; definitely an excuse to buy a powershot at a later date without “needing” a battery for it. ;)

Any opinions / experiences with the more budget end of the market? Looking at the WORX WG927E and this Spear & Jackson sets, both £200. We’ve not got any existing systems so starting from scratch. Worried that the cheaper models will prove to be a false economy, but would like to not have to spend absolutely loads on it.

The 76 Projects piggy / little piggy are good. I’ve got a little piggy and the dry bag which easily holds a tube, levers, brake pads, quick links, and a multitool.

Not done it myself, but here’s a route out of the city centre to Haldon and back.

I run an RRP proguard max on my 650b trail bike and have a highroad carrier. The tyre loop bars sit comfortably either side of it (a relief as I did not realise this might be an issue prior to purchase!).

They are really nice units, very well built. The downsides I’ve found are that the tyre loop bars don’t lock down when not in use which I find a bit unnerving but hasn’t been problem really.

High five @roverpig! They do look good in the camo. Though I will admit to splashing out on a custom one to match my bike…

Yeah they aren’t massive. I wanted it for a better place to stash extra layers, gravel tube that doesn’t fit in a tool caddy plus maybe a camera in the summer. I have a restrap harness for multiday rides. But it’s very sensitive to overpacking as I’m riding a 51cm bike so there’s not tonnes of space between the bars and tyre.

    @ElShalimo
it looks like Alpkit still have the Tivaro in stock and on sale? Or a Joey harness plus appropriately sized drybag might be a particularly cost effective option.

I have a wizard works lil presto that’s pretty spacious. Easy to fit/remove with Voilè straps and comes in snazzy colours. Prefer it to a frame bag as I’m short and fitting two bottles plus a frame bag is a squeeze. Anything I need to access on the move (food mainly!) is in a top tube bag.

I had to use a spacer for my 11spd SRAM cassette on the freehub of my Elite Direto X turbo. Haven’t found anything to suggest you should do that other than a thread here. It did allow it to tighten up properly; had lateral play without it.

I’d recommend goat’s butter and then some dried chilli flakes in the melted butter for about 20 seconds prior to the eggs going in.

I am also yet to perfect toast and egg timings. Even worse if you’ve got some sourdough that always takes about 3x as long to toast as normal bread.

Similar experience with that model cassette on a Direto X (they probably have the same freehub). I’m using one of the supplied spacers, and there’s no lateral play in the cassette but the larger three cogs have a small amount of rotational play. Might try it with a second spacer this evening and see whether that improves things.

So, had another closer look at it and it turns out the play was only on the drive side. The screws that secured the derailleur hanger had come loose. Tightening those has made it feel a lot more secure and, fingers crossed, should stop the racket during my next session.

Ooh that sounds like a possibility. I can’t recall having a spacer on the thru axle itself ever (bike is ~14 months old). With the wheel on it always felt like I had to do up the axle quite a way and had a lot of thread poking out on the drive side.

I assume the spacer looks something like this?

Same experience as @DaveyBoyWonder. Travelled as soon as we could stay overnight (we moved several hundred miles!) and fortunately had an offer accepted on our second round of viewings. Actually moved just before lockdown 2.0. Banks were pretty quick to approve mortgage etc with minimal encouragement which was a really big help.

Nothing too problematic due to covid. Our solicitors were clued up with moving things to email where possible and got things moving as well as they could (other members of the chain were less helpful!).

At this point I am a collector of the finest digital gaming specimens. I assume that by leaving them unplayed in their original (digital) wrapping I’ll be sitting on a very valuable haul worthy of the Antiques Roadshow in a few years?

@GHill that’s good to hear. I bought a flux 2 and a firmware update killed it so have replaced it with a Direto.

Look up Half Day CC. I rode with them in the before times and that was fab for finding new routes. There’s some on their Komoot page that are worth a look.

I just put some up this weekend. I found you’ve got to angle the bike to the left to get that sized wheel/tyre in and out. What I struggled with was getting the hook not to flap around everywhere.

Decathalon cancelled an order of mine that was “In stock” after 24 hours. Still haven’t had a refund over a week later. No customer service number to call. Massive pain! Won’t be using them again.

I’ve fixed one like that a couple of months ago. Just used a patch on the inside of the tyre. Was fairly close to the bead but it seems to have held so far.

I do this. Identical cassettes so I don’t bother swapping chains. I do try to keep on top of the chain wear and replace it ASAP once it’s stretched.

I run two wheelsets on my road/gravel bike. 700c wheels with GP5000 TL for road riding and swap to 650b wheels with 4sc WTB Resolutes for gravel. It’s just over a year old with 4300km of riding and I haven’t had any issues with chain / cassette wear so far.

@stevie750 I had the same, but I’m in Leeds, which is somewhat further from Inverness! At least my order actually exists. It was dispatched on Monday and wasn’t showing anything at all on the tracker until today.

Despite my shocking handwriting (even in block capitals) I recently started using a fountain pen again. I find it very therapeutic and much nicer to write with than a ballpoint or gel pen.

I got one of the TWSBI Ecos which seemed nice and don’t use cartridges (less plastic waster, hurray) and can use it as an excuse to buy some outrageous coloured ink, which dries pretty fast (non-glittery ink is even faster). Can’t speak for lefties, but it’s a million miles away from the pens I used at school which were generally messy even for me as a right hander.

The Lamy Safaris are highly rated and you can get a converter to use bottled ink rather than cartridges too.

On the home page can clicking on the comment counter glyph for an article take you to said comments section? Handy if you’ve read the article previously but are nosey about what comments people have subsequently made.

Yup, they’ve done a good job promoting it. I managed to get it to work first time this morning. Although I don’t remember a T-shirt size option like what is being mentioned on Facebook.
