Kamloops. Not as dramatic, but very cool.

Yes. I took my children there a couple of times three years ago and they really liked it. Its themes are more adult-oriented, but they have certainly managed to make it child-friendly.

For example, there are reconstructions of urban buildings to explore, and a section on the surveillance society at which a child can have his/her picture taken for a fun, laminated ID card.

    Enjoy.

    Found Cookson’s good as well.

Having lived there for a few years myself, I fancy that Lancashire is a bit like the Missippi of England.

As far as I could make out, had it not been for the fine young men and women of those innumerable Lancashire villages, Fila, Adidas, and Umbro would have gone out of business long ago.

tomzo sold me a Nikon digital camera which has been all it was cracked up to be. His communication was excellent, as was his shipping. I would buy from him again with no hesitation.

Welcome to the T4 fraternity! Lovely machine.

I was in exactly the same situation a couple of years ago. My Mac laptop got nicked at work, and my workplace kindly replaced it… with a Dell.

It seems that IT people everywhere just default to what they’re comfortable with.

Had a T4 for the last 4 years and love it. The thing has taken us from one end of Europe to the other, carried tonnes of camping gear, numerous mountain bikes… all without a hiccup.

What’s more, we were camping for a month in northeastern Germany last summer and found ourselves surrounded by them (giving rise to wandering eye on my part). It was like a convention, but their varying ages and uses also attested to their durability and infinite practicality.

On a mechanical note, find out what engine the one you are looking at has; you can’t go wrong with the 2.5L tdi.

I’ve had to ride alone a lot recently, both at night and during the day. I just make sure I don’t go beyond my own limits, carry a phone with me, and let others know where I’ll be.

Night riding alone can be a bit scary, though, but only due to an overactive imagination!

I’m sure as a lecturer you wouldn’t want to base your arguments entirely on the opinions of a failed footballer turned cook.

    TouchÈ!

Most meat eaters will eat any over cooked veg mush given to them

That statement alone is just so much bollards.

    Vegan = faddie food hater

I’m happy for you, no really I am, it’s great that you live in the 21st century and you can get all the stuff you want at any time. Personally I’d prefer a balanced diet based on seasonal, locally produced and sourced food.

Thanks for that nickc. You are absoluetly right. Veganism is post-modern indulgence affordable only because of the polluting technology that allows it to happen (transport). I’m with Gordon Ramsey on this one.

As to the bowel cancer b*ll*cks mentioned by traildog, I can only say that if that kind of scaremongering had any legitimacy, it is astounding our ancestors lived long enough to propagate us.

I think Mboy’s idea of ‘rides with readers’ is an excellent one.

Arghh! Chains? 4WD? I think I might start a driving school in this country with the sole purpose of teaching people, one by one, how to drive in winter. My Canadian uncle once said to me when I said I wanted a 4WD: ‘What the h3ll do you want one of those for? What you need is a good set of tyres and some skill.’ And he was absolutely right.

When I see people gunning it uphill because they think that that’s the way they will get to the top, I just want to scream. All they are doing is warming up the frozen ground underneath them and creating the prime conditions for turning everything to ice! Ask a Scandinavian or Austrian or Canadian (or anyone else who knows about winter) and they will tell you that that is exactly the WRONG thing to do.

devs (above) is right: ‘It’s all about education, adapting to the conditions and preparation.’

Sent an e-mail to marsdenman to join, but haven’t heard anything. Am I supposed to?

Reason I ask is that, without realising it, I sent my information before STW had recognised my fresh registration for the site.

I’ve been using different Macs for more than ten years and never used any kind of security software, and my computers have never so much as hiccuped.

Have driven two Volvo estates (both the old 700 series – that is, pre-V70) and they were brilliant cars. They made me a bit of a Volvo fanatic really. I have tended to alternate between VWs and Volvos, and now drive a VW Caravelle because I have so many kids. But that may be a bit big for you.

Having said that, a diesel Caravelle is a good alternative to larger estate by other manufacturers, so I wouldn’t rule it out. It’s wonderful for bikes.
