I really like Eboue. He was treated shamefully by the fans, came back and became a cult hero in the Ray Parlour mould.

However, he is also a lot better than people think. He’s our only true utility player, in that he could fill in across the defence, and across the midfield. The only two places he couldn’t play were in goal and up front, and I bet he’d have given it a damn good go. He also always ran constantly for however long he was on the pitch.

Yeah, Song should have gone for that, and should get a retrospective ban. As far as I can remember it’s the first time he’s done that, but he does have a habit of picking up stupid yellows for tackles on the half way line.

Incidentally, apparently as Barton grabbed Gervinho off the floor while the ball was still in play, that should have been a penalty as well. And while Gervinho went down easily, he was tripped. Barton should also technically have been off the pitch already for leaving and reentering the field of play without the referee’s permission to abuse the fourth official. But hey.

Should have been red for both. The fact that he can throw himself to the ground with a delay after being tapped very lightly, claim several times that he was punched and then come out and say he doesn’t dive are frankly shameful.

It’s probably the best possible two hour adaptation of the book you could do, would have loved to have seen Gilliam’s mini-series though if that had gone ahead, there’s too much for two hours.
