It depends on whether you take the view that evacuation flights should be covered by general taxation (personal or corporation) like the NHS is, or whether it should be an additional benefit to be paid for, either with a private travel insurance policy or paying the full cost after the event.

Say you choose door 1, and supposing the host gives you the opportunity to keep the contents of door 1, or to swap and keep the contents of BOTH other doors. Obviously you’d swap, because that gives you a 2/3 chance of winning. The host then says I’ll save you the bother of opening both doors, I’ll open one of the doors for you.

The only difference in the actual game is that the host opens one of the doors before asking if you want to swap instead of after, but that’s irrelevant.

Depends. If it’s for work wouldn’t it come under WEEE regulations?

If you mean there can be 10 different variations of each of 21 different products then theres 10^21 = 1,000,000,000,000,000,000,000 combinations

The Now show on Radio 4 used to do a roundup of local news stories, this is probably my favourite. Make sure you read the comments too.

How about Bodeans? The place I always wanted to go to but never got round to it. Unless you’re a veggie.

Good question. I saved it in my favourites but it’s not there anymore.

Get a light with a built-in belt clip (I use a Smart 1w LED) and clip it to a strap or an external pocket.

I’m too impatient to warm up with a slow ride, and if I don’t stretch before I get on the bike I’ll be aching for days.

OpenOffice is good for Office stuff.

    No it’s not, it’s awful!
    Actually, it’s really good.

No, it really is quite shit.

So is Microsoft Office, therefore they’re equivalent.

+1 bikemonkey. Never say anything negative about them, explain they’ve been a great employer and you’re sad to leave, but you feel it’s time to broaden your experience.

Wifi health issues: they affect your health using the same mechanisms as Power balance bracelets (i.e. placebo effect).
Cat5: If it’s installed why can’t you use it? Or do you mean you’ve got the cabling but not the faceplates/sockets?

@TheArtistFormerlyKnownAsSTR PDFs are already compressed internally, so no point zipping them unless it’s a convenient way to send a whole directory of files.

@ebygomm Could one of Flickr’s caches… they’ve got over 5bn photos so god knows how many servers they have, and some will be updated faster than others.

There’s usually something on (sometimes for free), and even if there isn’t there’s usually some free exhibitions in the Royal Festival Hall or National Theatre. Or take up bike polo.

I can still see the sunset. My guess is it takes a while for everything to be deleted off their servers. Dynamic content (like the photo page) should be quick to update, static stuff (i.e. the actual images) probably hang around for a while until they’re cleaned off all of Flickr’s servers and caches, wouldn’t be surprised if it took a few days.

I’ve got a pair of Gusset PCP pedals (which appear to be identical to the Wellgo ones Peter posted) on my polo bike. Fine in the dry, slippery in the wet.

When I heard about the database problems this was the first thread I thought of. You should always have a backup crown race.

It’s so that they can track which machine it’s destined for- I guess it’s easier that way to keep their compatibility list up-to-date.

Starting from London is one less thing to worry about- it’s the terminus so you can take your time finding out where to put the bike. On the way back ask the platform attendent which end the bike carriage is at, then prepare to run to the other end when the train comes in the wrong way. And definitely get a (free) bike reservation.

In that case what’s the point in giving it an E-number if it’s never used in elemental form?

If I’ve counted correctly this should be a new page. Incidentally has anyone considered the effect of split vs non-split crown races?

I’ve used my MTB for touring in Wales before since it’s my only bike. It’s nice to be able to follow some of the off-road Sustrans trails without worrying whether you might break something.

I know nothing about 29ers but my friend did JOGLE on a cheap Halfords special with a buckled wheel in 2 weeks, so if that’s your main aim then it shouldn’t matter what bike you have :).

What do you use Office for? I only ever use the basic word processing/spreadsheet stuff, so it’s fine for everything I want to do. I’ve got a HP210, running Ubuntu Netbook.

Salt, bread flour, water, yeast. Knead. Rise. Knead. Rise. Bake.

If it’s your first time just follow a simple recipe (there’s usually one on the packet of yeast or flour), it’ll still be miles better than anything from the supermarket.

I do wonder though, when employment rises, will there be a clamour to have those that have received additional benefits to pay tax at a higher rate?

Good idea, we could start right now with all those recent graduates who’ve only been charged £3K/year, and also those oldies who not only didn’t have to pay fees but were given a grant to cover their living costs. Only problem is you can’t have a retro-active tax, so we’d have to find some other sneaky way, such as by taxing people on high incomes, i.e. an income based tax. As an added benefit we could even use the same idea for new students instead of a complicated new IT repayment system which EDS/Crapita/Serco are probably rubbing their hands over.

What do you mean by separate hooks and properties for each component? If you’re going to be sharing code between separate repositories then they probably shouldn’t be separate.

Also, when you say SVNServer do you actually mean Apache?
