I think you’ll find it’s the flying pasta monster (the spaghetti monster was on leave)

Hairdryer? Just don’t put it on high otherwise it can melt the glue or deform some of the plastic inside.

No one educated has believed in a flat earth for 2000 years.

Define “educated”. Educated according to modern scientific standards? According to the church? The tea party?

Try and get as much compensation as you can (bike, and personal injury). Unfortunately hitting them in the pocket is the only thing that will have an impact, anything else they’ll just shrug off. If you feel guilty about claiming just donate it to a cycling campaign group.

These are the CTC’s recommended solicitors:
    http://www.rjw.co.uk/legal-services/personal-injury/cycling-accident-compensation-claims/
They’ve got an 0800 number and email so might be worth contacting them?

Go to the doctors. Its a little known secret that Hayfever is a medical condition that can result in w prescription, eh voila one years supply for the price of 2 prescriptions.

If you buy the generic versions it normally works out cheaper than getting a prescription. I use Beclometasone Dipropionate spray (generic Beconase) from here.

Reply with a made up transfer number, and say you’re a bit of a novice when it comes to using Western Union so you might’ve got the wrong number. See how long it goes back and forth :)

I reckon the site looks OK for a first attempt. If someone had recommended you it’d be enough to make me think you’re a genuine company. Contact details aren’t immediately obvious though- could you also put them on every page, e.g. in the footer? And grey text on a grey background isn’t the best colour scheme :)

I only want hosting for one domain (so I could get the DNS for free), but I want to use the second with Google Apps, and 1and1 won’t allow the required DNS changes (a TXT record) on their server. So I thought it’d be easiest to just move the whole lot.

Just make sure you don’t use 1and1 as your domain registrar… the reason I haven’t got round to Google Apps is that they don’t support it (for email you need to edit certain DNS settings which 1and1 won’t allow).

If you own your domain is using Google Apps a possibility? Ihaven’t actually tried this, but I’m thinking of signing up to avoid the “on behalf of” thing in GMail.

Yep, done that exact route in reverse (Monmouth-Chepstow-Bristol-Bath). Sustrans route 4 between Bath and Chepstow via Severn Bridge, then as already mentioned the Wye Valley Road (A466) to Monmouth. Stop off at Tintern Abbey for an ice-cream.

Never heard anyone say that before.
To be fair, I have one, and I don’t rate it either.

Fair enough, but could you explain why? Image quality? Too big/small/slow/complicated?

I’ve had my eye on the same camera, Amazon price tracker shows it was down to £340 at one point:
    http://uk.camelcamelcamel.com/Canon-PowerShot-S100-Digital-Camera/product/B005N5NF54

I’ve seen it a lot cheaper on several .co.uk sites but when you delve into the T&Cs a lot of them turn out to be based in Hong Kong.

Financial services marketing = persuading people to give money to large banks. Why not turn it around, join a charity, and use your skills to persuade large banks to donate money :)

If it was a completely self-driving car then I’d say it’s a good thing since it would be better than your average driver. Unfortunately the video suggests otherwise and that it’s in addition to the driver, in which case it’s a bad thing since it encourages drivers to pay even less attention.

Phones don’t even need a sim in to make emergency calls.

Is this definitely true? I know a phone will say “Emergency calls only”, but I’ve read (either here or some other cycling forum) that it won’t connect in the UK?

Conclusion: people are stupid and easily led.
(which is pretty much the fundamental problem with democracy)

Easily led? Yes. Stupid? Partly, though I think you’re being a bit harsh. As you point out the media get in the way of any discussion of policies, so one day it’s big business avoiding tax, the next its pasty tax, but there’s very rarely any attempt to have an informative discussion on e.g. overall tax policies in general weighing up the pros/cons.

As a result “public opinion” actually means “media owners/editors opinion”.

Are they actually U-turns? Or will they say they’ve changed their mind, believing they’ll gain more public support, then bring back the original policy under a different guise (an O-turn? or maybe a Q-turn to allow for a slight digression?).

Keep an eye out for any sales, especially shops closing down. I got a 65l rucksack for gbp20 a few years ago. Been on several backpacking/train trips and it’s still in good condition. Also the straps can be tightened to squash it down when it’s not full so I don’t need several different sized bags. Too bulky to cycle with though.

The verges are sprayed with glyphosate, but clearly the rape is the GM version that is resistant.

Do you have evidence? I’m sure DEFRA would like to hear, since

No GM crops are being grown commercially in the UK

The Green Party have been really getting on my nerves over this (claiming GM supporters have been stifling debate). I completely agree with them when it comes to political control of GM crops (e.g. Monsanto using it as a way of locking in farmers), but this is a valid and useful scientific trial, with no obvious conflicts of interest. The scientists runnign the trial have offered to meet with the protesters, but AFAIK they’ve been turned down.

I wear contacts and get hayfever, Beconase (or generic equivalent) nasal spray normally works for me. I don’t know if it’s because the eyes and nose are linked by a duct, or if it’s something else that means it works, or if it’s a placebo effect.

Better for the environment. Improved access by bikes means walkers could ride to the start of their walk instead of driving, this reduces pollution, congestion, and visual impact on the countryside.

No personal experience, but I met four JOGLEers in Clun on Tuesday. They basically said JOG-Tongue was a complete waste of time, not helped by torrential rain and 40mph headwinds.

Do you think a 10p per STW post tax would lead to an increase in the quality of debate?
