I’d also recommend the Islabikes. Scaled down grips etc and very well made. Yes, they cost more up front, but you get that back when you want to sell it…

I’m working in Basingstoke tomorrow – happy to pick them up… Have they put them to one side for you or is that a silly question? (not done much TK Maxxing).

Yup, we’ve got the Berghaus Air 4, we’ve only used it once so far but it’s fantastic. As is usual with tents, 4 men in it would be tight! Great for three of us. I’d get the size up otherwise.

As someone who has actually checked out most of the new stuff I can report that this is def a good thing for Swinley. The best old stuff made much better and lots of excellent new stuff built by someone who clearly knows what they’re doing.

Unless I’m missing a bigger plan of everyone moaning so it doesn’t get used much, I’d recommend stop whinging and get down there.

Email today was written in a negative way ‘cos those guys got cut out of the process and are unhappy.

+ I love our 2.2 diesel Civic – nice to drive, quick (ish) but good on fuel. The clever seats are great. The clutch has been an issue though – just had mine changed after 72k miles. Honda where good enough (it’s a known issue) to give me £500 towards the new flywheel / clutch (and the part is now upgraded) but it still cost me 1k. Overall still very positive though.

I got passed by a guy in baggies whilst mincing down the off camber fireroad. Got him back on the climb, but considered giving up the sport at the time

If you said something like ‘nice descending’ as you came back past – that was me! – trying to make up for lack of fitness with speed on the downhills…

I thought I saw him with a track pump?!

Just remembered, did anyone lend the Salsa rider a pump on the first lap about 100yds after the start? He was at the first gate shouting for someone to lend him one, before the straight run to the Kenda climb, I just tutted and carried on, schoolboy error on his part

Isn’t it against the rules to be ‘helped’?
