Concur with Poynton / Disley / Macc having lived there in the past. Plenty to go at and not far from Peak District.

moved to Marsden, W.Yorks a few years back. Little village, 30 mins to Leeds or Manchester on train ( when they run!!) but decent riding from the door and plenty to link into further afield. I can be off road within 5 mins of leaving the house.

Evening. Been going to Bavaria over the last 20 odd years, plenty to do and very outdoor friendly!

Obersdorf , Sonthofen are great and plenty to go at. Easy marked cycle tracks and running / hiking trails. Cable cars for getting up high and following the routes for walks or to mountain huts.

I normally go to Garmisch though, we did this Sept with our 9-month old. Plenty of walking with the baby carrier. We stayed in a village in Grainau, just about 5km out of Garmisch. Plenty to do in the area, easy travel from Munich ( we flew and hired a car, 90 minute drive ). You can get the train easy enough from Munich airport and once you’re in Garmisch it’s all easy to get about. Plenty of restaurants , supermarkets etc.

Theres a campsite south of Garmisch towards Grainau on the main road ( think it’s called camping Zugspitze ). Aldi across the road, right on the river, easy to get about. Stayed on the campsite in the past, showers, all decent facilities.

    lovely place – enjoy.

I’ve got an old GoPro 4 so not a bad idea. If I could figure a timer to ensure it’s the same time every day that would do it .

I really like them and use them mainly for my long distance ultra runs as I struggle with what to eat, so they work well for me.

    Bargain at this price!

@Graham – thanks. Not sure what station in particular. My friends mother is cracking on a bit (70) and enjoys French radio having lived there for quite a while. We’ve tried shouting at Alexa but she doesn’t like it!

Thanks for the suggestions to far folks.

I’ve have an Alexa myself and find it simple, but it’s not for me I suppose 🙂

Jumping on this…. looking for some SPD MTB shoes for my bike after using flats for a while… when did cycle shoes get so expensive?! Ideally, yes wanting a winter shoe too, so looking for ideas on this also.

I used Blockchain for BTC purchase, it’s still sat in there at present.

Also purchased some ARB shares (£100 worth) and they’re doing ok! I didn’t get in on the mega cheap prices, but not doing bad.

Another similar to ARB (Argo) is one in the US called MGT Capital Investments – another block mining company. Bought £30 worth under an equivalent US penny and doing ok on these for now!

I’m also no expert , I just do my own research and only put in what I’m happy to lose.

I have the Blink XT (XT are the outdoor ones with a better casing) and find them good for what I need. Easy to set up and use and notifications sent to a smart phone. Run off Litium AA batteries, so they’re easy to maintain and service. Work with the Amazon products such as Alexa and so on.

I got 2 for my Dad recently for £120. You can add to the network as and if you wish. No ongoing fees or subscriptions.

I have a SP4 provided by work. I quite like it, you can use it as a tablet or type away on the keyboard.

my only issue with mine was the device would get really hot and then there screen would flicker so it was unusable. Battery life isn’t great either, so it’s always plugged in.

IT replaced my machine and it’s been fine, but not sure I’d buy one with my own money. I have a personal iPad which I prefer for everyday browsing and use and find it much slicker than the SP4.

Yep agreed on puppy pads – never used them with mine, first few months we were getting up at 3am to let her out for a pee and toilet , after 5 months she will go until about 0630 and has only had one accident in the house. Now she lets us know when she wants to go out for the toilet, she had a look when she’s trotting around. Takes a few months and unsettled nights but worth it I think.

Cockapoo owner here, had her about 4 months now, got her at 11 weeks from a breeder. Thankfully I’ve known the breeder for a long time so could vouch for the dogs and got to see the parents and where they were brought up. Paid £1500 for her. Breeder has a good reputation across the UK so I know she’s a good dog.

She’s a great dog, keen to learn (with treats!) and pretty well behaved. Already have her off lead on re-call, walks nice on her lead and does all the usual sit, wait, high-5 and lie down!

Looking forward to taking her on a longer walks once she’s older and maybe have her following the bike on rides!

Come from. springer spaniel a few years back, so similar temperament but seems less frantic! We’re enjoying having her in the family.

I have a SWB Caddy which is great for me as a ‘car alternative’ but I don’t carry big loads, just my bike really, so not sure how it would cope with weight in it.

Comfortable enough and decent fuel economy.

Mine is the 1.6 diesel which are well known t have injector issues across the range. Caddy forums suggest 1,9 SDI or 2.0tdi. My 1.6d has been fine though….. (just cursed it now haven’t i….)

Thinking of moving that way shortly – my partner is from Marsden originally and family still there. We both work in Manchester.

Partner suggests you can drive to Greenfield thereby avoiding tunnel and cheaper on the train too.

We are hoping to be there by the New Year so will also be looking for some riding (I did post a separate post the other day!).

Generalist – sorry you got out of bed the wrong side this morning and I will work on my apostrophes during these times of uncertainty! 😉

Thanks for your second reply which was more helpful than your first.

    Have a good day folks!

I’ve spoken to EE customer services this very day. They, for the sum of £10 have allowed me to use my calls, texts and data (up to 15gb!) in Canada for the month. Like Tracey says, you can set it up to cancel on a set day.

I’m going to Canada shortly for a few weeks.

Currently with EE on a contract – for an extra £10 for the monthly billing period I can use my minutes, texts and data (up to 15gb) like i would at home. Bargain, and less hassle.

I wont be going mad on it, but handy to have for emergencies or looking up stuff online for example.

Not sure if this extends to maybe their PAYG SIMs and then just pick one of them up.

I bought a used one of these this week, a day later my mate highlighted the recall to me.

I’ve spoken to my local Evans ( chillfactore / Manchester ) today who said they were waiting for CSG to get the replacement forks in; likely to be mid August . They took my details and frame number so they could log it with CSG.

Shame I can’t ride it now for a few weeks!

I’m an idiot selling one ( trying to ) on FB.

The advert is active so I’d think one would assume it’s still available?

My favourite question is “ is this still available “.

    me “ yes “.

    Silence….

Or generally some 14 year old kid, “ will you swap for a PS4….” NO SWAPS!

I done the Buff winter trails (half) event yesterday at Coed Y Brenin.

My third go at it, and I love it. 2:43 and generally never seem to get much faster.

Still… I see it as a training run- doing my first Ultra this year – Lakeland Trails 55k in June so just getting miles in now .

The cable car up to the Zugsptize was closed from the Eibsee side when I was there in September due to an accident . Out guest house host was hopeful the lift would be open again for Xmas. You can get the train or go the Austrian side.

Plenty of other areas , Alpspitze, Wankbahn Available too.

If you can get WiFi in your garage buy an amazon echo dot or similar in the sales. You can get internet radio via them and all of the dab stations.

I was there last April – pleasant weather and wind wasn’t too bad , short sleeve weather !

Wind got gusty at times, thankfully behind me…managed 52mph was a bit erm scary! 😬

Costa teguise was where I stayed and you’re close for some nice roads and routes .

i hired from evolution bikes. Helpful and friendly – I’m not affiliated to them either.

Seems a fascinating and driven guy, particularly after all of his injuries. Seem some programmes with him in and his virtually metal leg. Enjoy.
