If u have been using GT85 8O For some time, No wonder ur chains snapped !

I’ve never really been a convert of oil or lube and thought that even Olive oil is still gonna give it some wear resistance…..

    I Know ! I Know !

After last years Wet Autumn and Bitter winter early on this year i started experimenting ! I do on average 100 Miles a week all off road and have P!$$ED about with allsorts this year !

Eventually ended up with ROCK ‘n’ ROLL Extreme in the dry ish Autumn and thro the last two weeks of wet weather into what we have now and it simply performs !
    Thats it !
If u want proof buy some !

The reporter Chick in the studio retorted with
    “How Bizzare”

I cant say I would stop and help !

I stopped at Dalby last year and tried to help a guy who had a puncture !

He was on a hire bike from the centre and didnt have any tools or spares, I offered up a patch which he gladly refused requesting a Tube instead !

In the end i rode off and left him as he said my patches were of no use as the werent Glueless !

Apparently patches and glue dont mix !

Sorry ! but once bitten !

I use the Troy Lee XC Gloves after reading good reviews about them and can honestly say that after 6 Months of hard use they appear to be as good as the day they came out of the packet.

I only have 1 pair

I use them in the Heat of the summer the rain and the cold !
They are fine for me !

I was stating the obvious !

    Yes.
Well, most of the time anyway, it has to be REALLY wet to get through and down the top of the sock.

SO ! The answer’s not Yes then :?

Only i went out Yesterday afternoon with a pair of ENDURA bib longs on and threw caution to the wind and donned My Singletrack baggies over the top !

The force of the water against my legs on the trails had the water straight through mine and against my legs, It’s not the first time either, every time i go out in the wet i inevitebly end up getting wet !

Hmmm ! Wearing baggies makes ur feet cold ?

I’d say thats a pretty Bold Statement to make ?
How does wearing baggies make ur feet wetter, are you saying that bib longs remain waterproof and the water does not penetrate and run down the inside of the material against your leg ?

I,m going to stick my neck out “AGAIN” and say thet “PERSONALLY” i cannot abide GOTE-TEX and also think Sealskinz are a complete waste of Money.

    *NOTE*
this is my own view and NOT necessarily one that is shared by others.

I wear a pair of Bridgedale socks and just accept that my feet are going to get wet !

I,m not sure trying to justify SH!T & P!SS are valid enough reasons to allow Animals on trails !
I think a modicum of common sense should be applied and the owner should respect other countryside users by abiding to the countryside code for a start !

My gripe is having a Dog OFF a lead in a place where members of the public frequent, I,m not interested in how cool a dog looks with a Pirate bandana round its neck or with ickle booties on its feet !

If its a trail centre specifically maintained for Cycle use WHY take a dog on there ? I just dont get it ?

I was bit on the hip by a Greyhound in the summer that was well trained and hadnt ever done it before and was very obedient !

My argument was that if it bit me there at that hight what was stopping it from taking a lump out of my sons face who was riding in front of me !

As we approached the dog the owner assured us that it was OK and was just being friendly 8 stitches later i wasnt so sure !

As far as i,m concerned dogs should be on a lead in a Public Place or forestry block / Trail centre, If the responsible owner wants to prove to the world that he has an obedient dog then join a dog club and get it to run through hoops and sticks……….
Also if it is deemed acceptable to have a Dog off the lead where members of the General Public go to be safe away from streets, Walkers, Dogs, Dog crap, Cars etc then approach the Land owner and get permission to have a dog off the lead stating that you THE OWNER take full responsibility for the actions of the dog !

See if they give it to you !

My son wont get on his bike now outside the estate where we live as he is scared that he is going to have to go to hospital for stitches !

    +1 For PARAMO !

In my experience there isnt a brand out there that can touch it !

I’ve had Most btands over the past two and a half decades and ALL seem to have started out top drawer and gone downhill in the quality stakes.

i,m just saying that there seems to be a lot mentioned on here ref LBS some happy some not so happy !

On the whole i,m overjoyed with any bike shop that is not local to me,
For instance the one i have just visited and the service i received was absolutely brilliant…..

I visited my LBS recently enquiring about Gear Cables and when asked what i was running at the time i replied “GOODRIDGE” which amused the shop assistant greatly stating my confusion as Goodrige only make brake lines and NOT gear cables, I was told to bring it in and he would clear up any confusion and identify the problem i was encountering……

At the time there were a load of school kids in the shop hanging round the counter like groupies !

    Well !

I,ve just been to a NONE LBS not near to me ! infact 279 miles away from me and they charged me £2.50 to change my rear cassette !
I,m working away and ordered the rear cassette to be delivered to my place of work,

I,ve been invited out on a ride & i was talking in the shop for nearly an hour !

Last month at another none LBS i recieved the same treatment ! EXCELLENT service knowledgeable friendly advice,
Went back home popped into MY LBS and was made to look a PR!CK infront of about 12 School kids

I just cant see why so many people have a problem with LBS’s !
Why cant i find one LOCAL to me that is any good !

I,ve got to be honest with you i’ve thought about opening my own bike shop just to see how Rude / Pretentious / Obnoxious and stupidly unhelpfull i could be !

I mean it cant be very hard !
So many other people seem to be doing a very good job of capitalising on incompetant ham fisted idiots like myself………….

I’ve ordered a fair bit over the last couple of weeks with the 10% off and all have arrived in good time, ordered Fri arrived first thing on Monday……

I’d say overall the service CRC provide is pretty much top notch, it beats me having to drive into town pay for parking and then pay over hiked prices and get treated like a Mong !

    But thats another story !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The rollers on the chain are bevelled and upon looking at the top 3 rings on the raer casette when i replaced there were little hooks on the tops of the cogs where the wear and stretch had flared the tops of the teth.

I thought id caught it in time !

The positive thing to come out of this is that i’ve just given myself a good shake up after looking at my CRC order history & upon looking at my diary i’ve done Many Many miles this year since fitting the new stuff.

I dont want the hassle of a chain snapping on me either half way round a ride ! i guarentee it will only ever happen when it’s just about Zero deg its sleeting / vertical rain and my fingers are gibbering….

    Just like last time,

I,m running double and a bash Guard,

I replaced the whole lot in the spring, front rings, chain, fr & Re Mech, rear casette,

    Its a 28T rear cassette, 22T & 32T Front Rings,
Just had a Look at my CRC order history
    It’s a Saint / SLX 9sp cassette, presumeably then i need to replace with 28T ?
    I,m running a SRAM 991 chain.

    Ouucchhhh !

I,m not sure why riding a bike with only 1 gear is deemed to be better ?

I rode one all through my childhood and into my teens !

    It was a BMX !
Maybe its because they get confused changing gear ? or struggle with cable routing ?

    INCOMMING

Grease, I suppose it will drag but not enough for me to ever notice !

Good point indeed ! ENDURA has taken a bit of a bashing and i have been and still am unhappy with some of their kit !

    GORE:- Too dear for me,
ALTURA:- Too much reflectalite and too yellow and Ron Hill esque
SPECIALIZED:- I,m not into it at all ! never have been…. i wont go into detail !

ENDURA:- Looks good, Feels good, and looking good is 90% of the battle.

Well i,m all for resources that give an unbiased review on kit !

I cant see the problem with sharing in an open forum the fact that a pair of MTB specific shorts came out of the bag not finished with a hole where the stitching was missing !
Not only that but the shorts were to replace an already unsatisfactory pair of shorts.

Lucky you having all that kit and a new bike every 5 years without a glitch !
My LBS wont even fit decent gear cables to my pride and joy and have asked me to find out what size shorts i require for definate as ENDURA clothing is a bit hit and miss !

Again thanks for the reply Jim,

The returns may be a fraction of a percent from Millions of customers however !

My ENDURA HUMVEES were replaced last week as the stitching disintergrated within a dozen rides in dry summer weather !

My replacements are defective ! got them out this morning to try on and there is a 1″ gap at the top of the tea bag material behind the knee AND i have an XXL pair which bury me  My others were XXL and fitted me just right………………. whats going on !

My MT500 jersey is absolutely cr@p ! worn 6 times now and the stitching is frayed at the seams where the straps of my camel back rub it !
Not a happy fraction of a percent here !

Especially as ive just ordered some Thermo lite bibs 3/4 and some singletrack shorts !

    Good shout slowjo

I,m sure that ENDURA must be aware of their shortcommings judging by the ammount of replacement kit sent out from this site alone !

I had reservations on the quality from my own experience however i wasnt aware that it was as widespread ?
