I’m very proud of my splashbacks that are the reclaimed flooring fromHeathrow Terminal 2. It looks cool, it’s recycled and it’s a bit of history. Wasn’t too expensive either

I spend a lot of time in D&G and think Trekster is pretty much on the money, although I’d be dead if I tried to do the Kirroughtree black and Dalbeatie in one day. So I’d be:

    D1 Kirroughtree

    D2: Dalbeattie and Mabie

    D3: Ae and Drumlanrig

    ETC.

I have some old sidi megas which I always found very comfortable, but they have naff all arch support, so now I have some lakes which do and my knees hurt less too.

So I went up to Kirroughtree this morning to give it another go. Skewered the sidewall of the 2.6 nobby Nic on the front at the top of the first section of climbs and the rain started to fall heavily.

Minced down the the breakpad and switched up both front and rear tyres (I had a generation 1 2.35 No by Nic on the bac) while I was there Sam, who owns the shop said “your bars a very rolled forward, doesn’t that muck up the handling?”

what do you know, a set of Maxxis and a rotated bar and I took 4 mins of my best time on the red loop. Bike feels much better in the corners, in fact everywhere. Only downside is I’ve shrunk the reach so it now feels a bit short, but what an improvement in handling.

I thought they used to sell eccentric disc post mount adapters that you screw your discs into?

I’ve done a bit of SUPing in the sea and on a couple of large lakes, but are rivers SUPable? And I don’t mean anything manic or fast flowing (basically the river Nith, in SW Scotland now in a drought)

I have an AMG C63 estate. It’s an amazing car. Planning on selling it at the end of July…

I’ve also thought thoughts about a coil in my 15 Smuggler. I’m slightly heavier at 100kg and have a plethora of reducers in my monarch. So if anyone can say more, I’d like to hear it.

I’ve got a 2.6 Nobby Nic on the front of my Smuggler. Works a treat. Would love something similar on the back, but there’s not enough room.

I’ve got these, admittedly not at this price, and they’re great:

Stanton Sherpa with a cheap cabin fork (that I’m frightened will kill me)

3.0 Dirt Wizard Front. (actually pretty small for a 3.0)

    2.6 Nobby Nic Rear.

    Lovely combo.

It’s one of the very first ti frames and the crack is in the tiny tube that braces the twin top tubes and connects to the seat tube. Bit of a fiddly point.

To be honest I hadn’t ridden the frame much and was looking to sell, I’m 6,3” and it was fine 5 years ago, but now I’ve gotten used to riding longer bikes it feels small.

Always liked the idea of a stooge, will see if they’ve done large ones that the fork will fit.

I’m sure at two points in wanna be startin’ somethin’ Michael sings:

I want the same on the side of my croissant.

X-fusion, if they currently aren’t, were still doing 1 1/8 forks until very recently. Personally I loved my inbred 29er rigid with a 3.0 Dirt Wizard, Jones bars and ESI grips. Which gave it a whole load of upfront cush without suspension and I’m pushing 40 with a couple of fused vertebrae.

I’m a pretty heavy user (HD video editing, medium format photographs etc). Still use a 2011 MBPro with maxed out RAM and a SSD where the dvd drive used to be. Have put a a new 2 TB drive where the original drive was and it’s a proper workhorse.

Keep all user files (documents, movs, photos) on the 2 TB drive and once a year do a clean install on the SSD. Just waiting for my 3 year old to spill her orange juice on it.

I had Siren Cycles build me a softtail with exactly that premise. Only 60mm or so rear travel, but big forks and it’s a hilarious bike.

    I second the BAM recommendation

I have a Siren Song (US HANDBUILT SOFTTAIL)
120mm 29er up front. 60mm 650b in the back, the idea was to make it a hardcore softtail.
It’s a great bike, but I’ve just upper the nicheness of it, by making it a drop bar MTB. Big rise stem Midge bars. Hilarious fun.

I didn’t like my Sherpa with Dt Swiss 29er 130mm fork, even with 27.5+tyres it was all getting a bit tall.

I’ve now put the fork on a new BFe and will be trying it out with a 3.0 front and 2.6 back Nobby Nic combo.

So yeah, I’ve been building a bike aroung a 130mm 29er fork and that’s where I’ve ended up.

My dad was born there and I have a shack on the beach in Wellfleet. It’s pretty idillyc, dirt roads and fresh water ponds. Where I am it’s pretty hard to get to, so not that many people, but in August it can be pretty busy, especially on the weekends. There’s some pretty good biking if you look for it, I’ve retired an old SS Tinbread that I made a rigid 69er out there.

    Lobster is best steamed.
Welfleet has the best Oysters in the world, but don’t turn your nose up at steamers, littlenecks or Quahogs.
Blue fish covered in mayonnaise and then roasted in the oven is my favourite local dish.

The south is preppy (although that’s more of a rumour as I’ve never really been there). From Wellfleet north to Provincetown it’s fairly arty, Ptown is America’s second largest gay community and there’s a great parade, but there’s no night life anywhere. Whale watching is fun for everyone older than 2.5.

Sorry this is all a bit of a random selection, I love it there.

I did this last year. It was completely brilliant. A couple of friends did it this year, they loved it.

We’re all planning to do it next year

I’ve got a 29×2.6 Nobby Nic on the back of my Sherpa and love it, with a 29×3 Dirt Wizard on the front, the bike is a bit of a monster. Only trouble is the B.B. is getting a bit high so might go to a 650b+ on the back.

@StefMcDef I have a set of Ragley Carnegie’s you can have for postage money (or collect in person if you’re in London). They’re the yellowy green ones.

I directed a film called The Hippopotamus*, which is based on a novel by Stephen Fry and that went up on Netflix last week. It’s a bit divisive, probably split on your feelings about the author of the book, but a lot of people seem to have enjoyed it.

*I don’t get any money from people watching the film on Netflix, so technically this isn’t spam.

Well if they invite me back to show my next film I definitely will!

I ended up doing one of the shorter red routes in CyB. Had some good bits, but wasn’t as great as I expected. Maybe I’ve been spoilt by spending so much time in Dumfries. The scenery around Tywyn was stunning though, especially when the sun came out.

Mike, yes I’m the director, I think the film has come out in Australia, although only a small release. Should be on download/disc soon though.

Thank you both, I think Coed y B is probably worth the small diversion, especially as I’ve never been.

Now, anyone got advice for the best 2 hour ride for a fairly competent technical rider, on a hardtail, that’s a bit out of shape?

I have a 1*9 on my rigid 29er (so quite bumpy at speed) and I’m yet to lose the chain with a normal mech and n/w ring.

An ex-girlfriend of mine regularly sails to South America with a boat full of beer, red wine and olive oil. She then sales back with a boat full of rum.

She’s amazing, the rum is delicious:

I’m a little biased, as the last film I saw was my own, but we had the premiere on Friday, and people bloody loved it

So I guess the why for me, is that after seven years work, I’m fiercely proud of it. But the why for your average watcher? It’s damned funny.

Arse, can’t get the link to the trailer to work.

I used to have an m9, but I sold it and bought a Sony A7rii and a Leica Q. Currently trying to work out how to get rid of the Sony and get another m9.

The Q is fantastic, although the paint is a little fragile.

I’ve done both RAM and SSD in my 2012 MBPro, if you don’t use your SuperDrive much I would strongly suggest putting the ssd in that bay using something like an OWC data doubler. I now use the traditional HD for all data and the ssd for all applications, works pretty darn well.

I have a similar problem on one of my bikes. The shortest I could find was a gravity dropper turbo which I think was 275mm
