@DrP, then you are sorted for a cheap as chips indemnity if need be.

Would i suspect be a fair bit cheaper than the planning application fee.

    I’m with nickjb, do that.

    Don’t believe you can get an indemnity insurance policy;

I’ve pinged off an email seeing if this is possible.. thoughts on if this will be considered at all?

Pretty sure it’s a condition of any policy that the issue not be raised with the respective council.

@tomd, when the first lockdown occurred the MIL used chapati flour to make bread loaves, just as good.

Do you have a cat or know someone who has one?

Fashion some shoes for it (the cat, not your arm, that would be silly).

That should take your mind of your moist appendage.

    You are welcome

the availability of newspaper is the main issue now!

Never thought we’d miss the free paper/local rag but now i have to pay money for a paper for fire lighting duties, mumble grumble.

Your gold mine sounds a bit rubbish.

Was hoping for Star Wars stash found under the floor boards, i’m a tad disappointed.

Well this is handy, just put the Halford light on the road bike and was not looking forward to the inevitable movement.

I’ve some lumicycle clamps hanging around, will see if they work.

    Holy slack response batman!

Only just got around to having a butchers.

Oh the shame of finding i’d used ALLLL the spacers behind the cassette (suspect 9 & 10 spacer).

Now just a wee turn on the barrel adjuster has it smooth as butter.

Now i’ve no excuse not to use it, damn.

Plus whatever for the Moon shield, lives on my commuter and MTB all year around and going strong after a few years.

Similar dimensions to you OP and I’d suggest you consider the Stif Squatch (XL) and it’s in stock i believe.

Think i’d still like to give the Solaris itch a scratch but been really pleased with it.

Bike parks, 100 mile bivy rides, local woods, been a hoot.

Will probably be able to report back how it works after this weekend.

Please do OP, currently just bung wife’s hairdryer on/in if really soggy/need the next day. Above would help with the scornful looks.

I’ve a pair of Specialized 2FO clips that are comfy on long walks/hill pushes.

Pretty durable too, must be 6-7 years old now though on their last legs.

That’ll explain why they were in B&M Bargains.

Brannigans crisps are no longer a thing.

What??? Nooooooooooo!! Still have about 12 packets tucked away in my desk draw at work, will cherish them all the more.

Most residential home policies rate on bedroom/bathroom count. If your re-build is below the declared sum of £1m and your number of bedrooms/bathrooms hasn’t changed it’s likely to have little to no effect. If you’ve added bedrooms/bathrooms expect your premium to rise.

Still update the insurer, some wish to know about extensions in past 25 years.

You can to be safe arrange a desktop valuation, we use these guys – https://www.rebuildcostassessment.com/ , will be about £130 or as referenced above, use the free RICS tool, https://www.rics.org/uk/products/data-products/insurance/

@savoyad I’m pretty sure there was an axle spacer (well, it’s what i assumed it was).

It’s an Elite Drivo II, believe 11 speed but I’m running 10 speed cassette with a 2mm spacer.

Was a bit blase setting it up so will have a good butchers an manual tonight.

@scotroutes , hmmm, there’s a thought. I’ll check the box, came with a multitude of bits.

EDIT: Cheers @snotrag, will have a play tonight.

    @joebristol
I’ll also give that a whirl, new to this turbo lark. Did see the erg option but ignored it.

So not unusual, that’s cool if not a tad annoying.

Is a different cassette to wheel, just same model/size.

Out by a full gear width so more than barrel adjuster territory.

You could get some adapters made to suit the turbo axle to make it the same as your wheel if it bothers you.

That’s a good shout. May try it without the spacer as it’s so far out to start.

    Cheers guys.

    80mm on my Stiff Squatch.

Built from spares and at the moment 175mm cranks make life fun in some stuff.

Will get some 165mm cranks shortly.

Moon Shield also worth a look, been faultless for just over 2 years of daily winter commutes and MTB duties. Can be had for £25 ish.

    Full mudguards
    Disk brakes (hydro or cable)
    Pannier rack

Above has made my life easier.

I did think hybrid when i was considering commuting (12 miles each way, 900ft of climbing each way) but opted for the drop bar bike to try and get into road riding more. I don’t have that much space so it needed to do more than one job.

Can then tack on a decent road ride when the mood takes me before/after work.

Went for a Spesh Diverge and has been a great all rounder, anything from pootle with the kids to C2C.

Battleface would appear to do it but will be rated on entire trip, not just the MTB trip portion.

Not aware of any provider that does it, if you’ve already left the UK your trip has started/window missed. Do you not have travel insurance at present for your US trip, ask the insurers to amend that policy?

Crumbs, forgot i posted this, cheers one and all.

As 165 are readily available without a silly price tag will take a swing at some second hand cranks and see how I go.

Ran the uberbike alu jockey wheels for past year, not by choice, couldn’t find any Shimano spares.

Have been fine, one is starting to seize but a bit of TLC will have it working again.

    I didn’t notice any difference.

I should point out i’ve probably ridden less this year than ever so they have had a pretty easy life.

Write. My writing was always appalling, but these days using a keyboard all the time I struggle to write legibly at all.

Very mush this too. I seem only able to write in capitals and well, it looks pish.

I’ve an Edge 820, touch screen is infuriating. Seems a lot worse than on the 800.

Don’t often have need to touch it once riding but yeah, can get a wee bit tiresome with sweaty/gloved fingers.

Buddy had a 530 on a recent C2C ride and it was impressive with 40% battery still left at the end. Yeah my 820 was half the price but had to charge it mid ride, battery saver mode and no sensors and it still died 800m from the finish.

The drowned 800 club, I’ll join.

Much like above biblical, ride killed it.

Did manage to dry out after a week in rice/warm places. Turned on but was never happy, would crash every ride and would no longer connect to pc.

Replaced with 2nd hand 820, can be had for not much and it’s been pretty descent.

The auto sync is good, no more connecting to the computer to create routes/upload results.

We got a Samsung tab when our wee one was four and still going (after 4 years), albeit on it’s last legs now (software outdated for newer apps).

Got of of these cases and it’s bomb proof; https://tinyurl.com/sc24spbz

I’ve the older version as my only road bike, cracking bit of kit.

Spare set of wheels if it needs to be a bit more spritely.

    Guard/rack mount for commuting duties.

Hold my own on club runs/century rides (but iz amazeballs).

My version will squeeze nobly 32’s but the modern dropped seatstay version can get something a wee bit bigger.

Can’t comment on the 1xVersion, does it still have option to install a compact 2x?
