    We got the 2-3 person one from Decathlon last year.

    Been great fun, from lakes, rivers, canals or sea.

    Opted for the x version which didn’t have the cloth outer for quicker drying.

    Have it up in 15 minutes and down in a similar time.

    Think one day we may get a proper canoe but space is limited.

    Plan to go on some summer adventures in it this year.

    Asked a similar questions OP;

    What…..petrol lawnmower

    I didn’t have Honda Izy money and our local engineer said they struggled too get parts for Hyundai.

    Ended up with a Cobra with a Honda engine;

    Cobra MX460SPH Self-Propelled Petrol Lawnmower

    Only used it a few times but seem solid.

    The pub at the train station is great. That’s where my knowledge of Dewsbury ends, sorry.
    Mirfield is only a couple of stops up the line and many a nice cafe and a few charging places in the supermarket carparks.

    Hmmmm, came for stories of 8 armed security octopus, was hoping for laser beams.

    I’m a little disappointed.

    Cheers one and all. Knew STW would come to my rescue.

    I like the idea of an electric mower but suspect none will be around after 20 years like some of their petrol counterparts mentioned above.

    We’ve a local lawnmower engineer so will wonder down this weekend and see what they can repair/recommend but the Honda Izy or a Honda engine variant looks like the winner. I’m hoping for a second hand one to save a few £.

    We will be spending a great deal of effort to shift from the sea of green and a pond will be in shortly.

    We’ve still not found the box with bike kit in yet which should be the more pressing issue.

    Given the warm dry Winters we’ve being having recently I suggest going high. Val Thorens, Tignes…

    Would agree, and Val Thorens great for beginners.

    Anyone notice a drop in dust on surfaces after having a purifier?

    We’re not plagued by allergies however, we do suffer from being lazy.

    Noticed a few of the air purifiers tout they reduce surface ming which i guess makes sense.

    Believe Aviva were one of the few who would accept NCD upto three years, though they may have changed their policy. Worth getting a quote from their direct arm.

    Found it a pleasant way to spend a couple of hours.

    Learned i should not drink more than two beers during the job, some very shonky work towards the end on my part.

    I’ve the 820 and the only time i’ve been pleased with the touch screen after 4 years was changing a data/metric field while riding.

    The few times I’ve needed to move around the map view, my fingers have been too dirty/sweaty to operate the touch screen.

    I’ll be changing to a 530/540 as/when it dies.

    Currently use a Petzl Tikka which is fine on medium & high modes (think 200 & 300 ish).

    May be lower lumens as it’s a couple of years old.

    Been faultless and replaced a lost Tikka that i’d been using for a few years prior.

    My first foray into trail/fell shoes is the Higher State soil shaker;

    https://www.sportsshoes.com/product/hst1514/higher-state-soil-shaker-2-trail-running-shoes/#sku-hst1521

    Been great. Worth consideration and much cheapness.

    I had a webchat and they said there was no more stock, so they automatically cancelled my order.

    That does not surprise me. I hate Evans, why did i even bother.

    Just had a webchat, unsure when stock will arrive. I can cancel or wait and see.
    In no rush.
    Not hopeful.

    Our local one is Happy Dayes in Sowerby Bridge.

    The mechanic is the dude who does the regular ‘Back from the Dead’ feature.

    Nice bunch and always helping out the community and homeless.

    Dropped off a fair amount of stuff, from tyres to bikes.

    Means i can trump all day safe in the knowledge they will smell of roses, FACT.

    @stwhannah Hey Hannah, i own an insurance brokers in Halifax. Ask your questions, I am not afraid.

    We have done some club insurance in this sector including some who did trail maintenance/repair.

    Home insurance while under construction isn’t cheap and a fair amount simply won’t cover/restrict to FLEA.

    Can’t comment on the £1,500 as i don’t know what it covers/cost off works/value of the existing structure.

    As with most things, shop around.

    Worth trying the following;

    Cheers all for the replies, love this place.

    Our council planning portal has everything on from 1980 onwards and no note of this wee addition to be seen. I suspect the seller may be wrong on the construction year.

    I’m popping over tonight to have a chat with the neighbour to asses their dickish levels. May even bring some pre-emptive frozen sausages if they transpire to be prize throbers.

    Is it not possible you can find another house this just seems like you risk falling out with your neighbours.

    Been looking for a while, want to keep to walking distance of kids primary which limits us just a wee bit. That and our area is silly price wise. And we’re fussy. Well, i’m not, i just want a garage for fettling.

    check on Rightmove to see when the neighbours bought their house

    Good shout!

    EDIT:

    I would test the reasonableness of the neighbours by chatting with them

    Yeah, but then he may smell! This would all be sorted by a quick chat.

    Is there another window on the other side of the extension?

    Patio doors on far side, window on end and sky lights so ample light.

    Just back from the architect (handily next door to my office) and envisaged no issue but the need to build a fair bit back from their wall unless they are happy to share the drainage/party wall.

    Mumble grumble.

    sandwicheater

    Aahh, I agree with both sides of the argument.

    What other reason would they have putting a window there than to stop others/right to light?

    Going to speak to planning but that’ll take ages and house will likely be gone.

    EDIT: Extension is 5 years old.

    I’m tempted. Just back from a weekend cheese making day at Lacey’s Cheese (would highly recommend) and may give it a go.

    I’ve ordered a kit and already have a beer fridge to store while it matures.

    Looks ace OP. I’m also on the look out for a 26″ bike for jnr.

    Figured there would be loads about now that 26″ causes cat aids and such, but pretty slim pickings.

    I’ve a similar conundrum, no showers, 14 miles commute with 400m of climbing.

    I typically take the last 1 mile nice and easy to stop any dripping and cool down.

    Wash before depart is a must. Panniers to stop sweaty back. Wee face wash at work. Get in work gear, done.
