dmjb4 I suggest you watch some dog whisperer. All dogs want to be with their leader (the owner if the training has been carried out correctly). If you are travelling at speed the dog runs with the bike and doesn’t rootle around it runs alongside. As Onzadog points out without good recall and stay training no dog will be safe but with this training no problems at all.

Venom or Celtic Frost probably wouldn’t make it!

A touch of napisan in with the detergent kills the bacteria and hasn’t ruined my shorts yet. A long time ago a washing machine tech recommended that I half the detergent used from the pack recommendations (it still cleans dirt from the clothes but will not mask BO smells from live bacteria).

How big is your library? This has the biggest effect on start up times for me.

Haven’t been to Afan, Dalby has been mentioned by one of the women riders in this part of the world as good. Ican’t recommend Thetford as it’s a bit of a mud fest though the cafes are good. Grizedale was enjoyable though the boardwalks may cause the jitters. There’s some natural trails that adjoin the North Face Trail.

A lot of Fireroad climbing on the Marin for recovering nerve and taking a breather. Steer clear of CYB it will frighten her from the off. A trail centre might be better as there will be mud but less of the axle deep stuff found on natural trails. A well groomed trail will require less input for line choice to ride well. Once the cold wet rainy season abates natural trails will allow her to develop her skills.
Another plus of trail centres is the cafe experience available at the end. The promise of a hot drink soon can lift the flagging spirits of the saddle sore.
