Back on page 119 @somafunk posted a link to Seth Abramson’s (35 twitter post examination of DT’s speech.

I’ve been reading his twitter ever since and found it a consistently good source of info. (Usually new content starts mid / late afternoon UK time)

In case the information is useful to anyone, this is my post from 5 years ago with links to the relevant section of the Criminal Justice Act and the precedent setting legal case.

Also worth reading the subsequent post from ‘Scapegoat’ who IIRC may have been a serving police officer.

I have the ‘Barn Top’ Halfords Advanced in your first link. Good quality. If not apparent, it’s a Hammerite type wrinkle-black paint finish. The top area is deep* and has two plastic fittings for 13amp plugs to fit through (I.e. for impact / drill chargers etc). With the included rubber mats, the first five drawers are approx 2” deep, the bottom drawer 2.75” deep. The drawers are the soft-close type similar to good kitchen units. I.e. you can ‘throw’ them closed and they slowly retract the last couple of inches.

*In case it’s any help to anyone – it’s four or five inches taller than the previous Halfords Advanced chest. Which means it’s a very tall stack if used with roll cab and mid box.

^^^ I recently had an ink supply issue. IIRC I couldn’t find a UK phone via HP’s own website. Google produced the customer service number 020 7660 3859 (M-F 9:00 – 17:00 ish).

Just dug out my copy of this for sun-lounger reading material. Amazon says second-edition published 2013 but mine is 2005. Some of the technology has moved on a long way since e.g. torches / GPS.
It’s very USA orientated but if EDC kit interests you, it’s worth a read. The Amazon reviews are pretty accurate IMO.

It reads like you’re intending to repair your existing hub, but if it’s any help to you – a few years ago I replaced the supposedly ‘Formula’ hub on a 2014 Boardman Pro 29er with a ‘Deore XT M756’ on the basis of the info in this screen-grab.

CountZero that monkey fist wouldn’t be packing an S/S steel ball?

That’s reminded me. About 35 years ago, went to a specialist fabrication / welding place we used. Owners were distraught – whole batch of components they’d made from steel (think a weeks work for 3 people) customer points out the drawing says ‘s steel’.

But real question (probably ‘doh’) but in your photo above ^^^^^ what is the shiny thing at the back?

Leatherman Juice (UK EDC legal) plus micro nail-clippers & True Utility telescopic pen (with magnetic cap).

True Utility Nano torch or Tesco 9LED / 3AAA Torch – cheap & excellent.

Folding protected magnifier – small print / maps / makers-marks on S/H stuff

Mini tape measure – DIY stuff / buying clothes / I need a widget to fit this other thingammy.

Finger plasters in my wallet – lost count of the number of times these have helped other people.

… but my go to tool is a Wera Kraftform Kompakt 20

Very nice tool (if you’ve not done so already) I’ve found it’s well worth adding some conventional bit-holders for restricted-access work. These are 6” (fits in the case) and 2”. Took a while to realise the whole ‘blade’ can be swapped over as it cannot on the pistol-grip / ratchet version.

I messaged a seller about an item asking for more information/ photos.
The seller has responded and included what appears to be a photo.
Hower when I click the thumbnail image, it takes me to, what at least appears to be, the ebay sign in page asking for log on details.

Had this twice within the last week:
1/ After sending an email with an attached photo for the seller, then clicking the thumbnail on the copy of my own email in Thunderbird.
2/ Same thing after receiving an email with attached measurement photos from a different seller.

    Seems ok to me. HTH

Anyone got real life experience of using one of these ?

I was using a Makita MM4 yesterday (EX2650LH ‘split shaft’ motor plus 196256-2 Hedge Trimmer). Starts easily, operates any way up, cuts well, good angle adjustment on cutter. I bought this as a special-offer with a brush cutter head as well.

Whatever you buy, my personal recommendation is that you also consider one of the aluminium back frame supports. I use the Stihl RTS harness, which works with both the pole trimmer and the brush cutter. The ‘proper’ tree people seem to like higher ones though.
