the thing that I find troubling about the conspiracy theorists is that they say that they are keeping an open mind, but then they only believe in a conspiracy, and not in what other people tell them.
so they dont have an open mind, just a belief in a conspiracy.
and wise words at last from IanMunro.

the old one is quite a lot different to the new one half an inch less travel and the back end has been re-designed to get rid of tyre clearance issues. plus new cable routing which is weird but neat and does away with a lot of cable rub. think the paint has been improved too.

I do work at Crosstrax, like I said I'm totally biased, but I have a pretty impressive array of bikes that I could have as my own and Ive been a Yetifan for years, still love the 575, I think the Zesty is the best all-rounder there is, but for me its the covert, which is why I own one.
But I'm on here bigging up my personal bike just like any other member does.
brake jack – not really a problem on the Transition as it only really affects Lawwill designed bikes, maybe hei hei is confusing it with brake squat which affects all bikes, including DW designs but to a lesser extent, but then as DW himself agrees brake squat is a good thing as when you hit the back brake the bike balances itself a little by sitting into its travel and stabilising the bike.
Still its my opinion that's all.

Im not sure why filthy would make a comparison about a bike that he hasnt ridden, the old covert is not the bike you are enquiring about so why comment on a different bike.
Anyhow back to the present, I have bottomed out the covert once or twice, as you would expect and the tyre hasen't touched the frame.
im running a 2.35 high roller on the back in case you wondered.
Oh and of the ones Ive sold, no-one has come back to me telling me of the problem.
also my frame is white so any marks would show up pretty easily.
I am biased, but then I totally rate this bike, and being a commencal, lapierre, yeti, cove, scott, kona, labyrinth dealer I can ride quite a range of bikes and its the Covert every time.
but it is just an opinion.

i've got one and I sell them so I'm totally biased, however I'm biased for a reason they are **** mint.
Totally transformed my riding, the bike climbs well, but on the descents its better than anything i've ridden (meta5 and 6, Zesty and Spicy, Genius, Yeti 575, 7 and a few more) and gives loads of confidence. Ive sold all the ones I can get my hands on and everyone has come back raving about it so I cant recommend it enough, If you are in Leeds then Ill let you try mine, but not for long as I like riding it too much. :)

I'd get the 2011 Scale 35, its better than the 2010 Scale 20, or the 2011 Scale 30 if you want XT, better frame and I prefer the Reba to the Fox.

Its frickin mint, Ive had mine a while now and It climbs well, and gives me soooo much confidence going downhill that Im now hitting stuff faster, dropping further and generally riding better than Ive ever done, its a perfect bike for the UK.

it depends on whether its a rear wheel and you expect the shop to remove and re-fit the tyre, rim tape, cassette and disc.
could be a few quid, or they might charge for the labour of all the above.
its best to take the wheel in bereft of any of the above.

Im pleased that through the efforts of people on here spotting the bike on ebay its led to an arrest, but be careful what you put on here as the same people selling stolen bikes on ebay are also users of this forum so be careful what you post.

problem with multi user trails is that they end up like golden acre park which is like a motorway now.
my fear there is that they will do the same with Meanwood valley and then we will lose a gem of a trail.
as for the horse trail there is a trail there but I mean what if we were then excluded from all the wooded bits because the horses had a full "trail" built for them.
but I like muddy sections that arent used much in winter, they become sustainable because they arent ridden much in winter.
Its a bone of contention up there, but I expect the council to just sit on it and nothing to happen, good luck to the Chevin guys, I still aim to support other developments in Leeds, and the region.

Dave you wont get Downhill runs on the chevin, the DH runs are the main reason people are against mountain bikers, as soon as you mention it the walking groups co-ordinate themselves to fight it, it was the case on ilkley moor it took two years to convince people that we are not all armour clad teenagers doing 40 mph down a public footpath.
Personally I think the other users are ok with bikes and would tolerate some building, however I would not want to be then heckled for not being on the "bike path" when Im on some of the nice cheeky stuff that I ride now.

I'm not against this, but how would you feel if the horse brigade got in there first and turned round to you and said that you cant ride all the cheeky trails in the woods anymore because they are now horse specific trails.
Id like to support you in what you do, but the chevin is very very busy and mountain bikers are a tiny percentage of the users up there.
Parking is limited and as half of the chevin is off limiits anyway I dont want to alienate other users and lose what is already there which is some cracking cheeky trails that are tolerated by people as long as you are polite. I dont see the need to change whats there. IMO

The chevin has been discussed many times and its not going to happen, now if the likes of chevin cycles could get behind something like temple newsam then that is a quick win, then lets see what Leeds council might provide, of course its not in chevins back yard and it wont benefit them directly but you have to get one thing done first.
There are middleton woods that the council were keen on and also they are happy to leave the dirt jumps in adel as long as they dont get too big, also they were interested in other developments, but its not Roger you need to speak to its your local councillor and to the asset management team with a proposal, not a petition.
Im negative because I see so much stuff knocked back, but if you want to develop something then work with the council on something they are prepared to do.
we expect a trials park in Rodley in the new year so stuff does get done, but not via petitions its dialogue with the council. particularly your councillor.

This has been looked at so many times its not going to happen petition or not, Leeds council dosent have the money for it, I have spoken to Leeds council on many occasions and chaired the Cycling development meetings and its not on the agenda, however they would be willing to see a development of Temple Newsam if you would like to get behind that.
I hope as you are looking to develop this for some kind of Chevin cycles benefit you might be able to look beyond your shops own benefit for the greater development of cycling in Leeds

A lot of people saw the point today at my LBS and we did ok, nothing earth shattering but a good day.
But the majority of people who shop in LBss dont use the internet to buy bike stuff which is why online is still the minority of sales in the UK

its not just specialized, or road bikes, the whole industry relies on retailers having predicted what they will sell for the summer and having ordered that the previous year and having held stock through winter, just so that the manufacturers can start tempting people with the following years stock midway through the year, the whole industry is out of touch with what the buying public wants imo.

    It's all Scott Bikes
Im a dealer and asked the head honcho at Scott the question that a service wont affect the frame integrity, unless its Drakes who will **** it up, but aside from that, his response is that it is to ensure customers get a Scott dealer to check the bike over, which I wasnt happy with as i reckon the warranty should be five years regardless of who looks at it.

People can wear what they like and Im not concerned who wears it or dosent.
I dont justify wearing it or not to anyone.
And I wouldnt take the piss out of anyone that did, or didnt.

Pros, they are niche, and aid some people with wrist problems, cons they compromise handling.
If they were any good for riding a bike then Honda, renthal etc would be using the design on motorbikes and the downhill fraternity would be using them.
again for climbing, etc, the XC racers would be all over them if they improved your climbing ability, but you dont see any on the XC circuit either.

Roadies are probably mountain bikers too, in fact they are like the rest of us just cyclists.
At the Etape de dales yesterday after Malcolm Eliot and Mark Thwaites smashed out 110 miles in 5:43 and 5:49 they didnt go for the Rego, they were tucking in to Bacon Sarnies, and at Ribblehead, you would have seen Ian bibby and Ed Clancy neking cheese burgers, so get over the whole them and us toss that this web site keeps coming up with.
I was out on the road bike tonight and tomorrow Ill be on the mountain bike, wednesday I may get some dirt jumping and digging in, its all just riding a bike ffs.
