I’ve been selling bits from my old 29er hardtail, has been difficult to say the least. I managed to get £70 for my old Reba’s and they were 2011 non boost jobies.

With the market flooded by the likes of the CRC closure, constant sales etc. its even worse.

I’d say expect offers in the £130-150 region

Im still running Pro 2 Evo’s from forever ago and they are probably only just ready for a bearing change. PLus i like the noise!

Im going to go for the Pro 5 Fortus 30 wheelset on my new build

I had exactly the same with Shimano calipers on old Avid 183 rotors. They wore concave, so much so the edges of the pads were down to the thickness of the spreading spring but the middles looked like new!!

Can’t believe how well they still worked like that but after a change to Shimano discs I’m much happier

Im 6 ft, i still have my original KS Lev from when droppers first appeared, 125mm drop, only sometimes do i wish it had more.

i’ve just picked up a 170mm drop for my new frame after finding out they exist in that length!

I wouldn’t order anything before trying the Marsh method. May well solve your problem for free!

Another +1 for the dakine hot laps.

During the summer I carry an extra 800ml bottle in one of the side pouches, it does make it lean and become a bit uncomfortable at times, but I use that drink first then go to the one on the bike. Perfect for what I need, 1-2 hour ride in the week.

This time of year I wait for the mud to dry then just brush it off. Looks virtually new still after 2 years.

I had something similar with my deore rear. Solid with the bleed block in, once 50% worn pads went back in it had to be ‘pumped’ up to work whilst on the trail.

I tried the Jason Marsh bleed method and it’s worked a treat. Back to solid lever.

Personally i use OEM Shimano Resin (D03S i think) in my Deore 4 pots.

After trying various aftermarkets on previous brakes i’ve always found the OEM’s softest compound works best for me

Excellent use of a machining centre there! 6061 or 6082 grade?

Agreed with above, mine came on Saturday, tried them on and fit fine, same as the on-one trail trousers, if i was more 34/35″ waist they would be too tight. (on a medium)

A good way of keeping myself in check over the xmas break!!

Had my first ride in them last night (well any MTB trousers for that matter) was very impressed. Medium on a 33/34″ waist.

Hmm, 31/32 waist, maybe I should have gone small. I’m not a small in anything though, always medium/large

    Posted 6 hours ago

If i was any fatter they wouldn’t fit so i would say you will be fine, plus that have velcro style adjusters round the waist to pull it in if needed.

I’ve ordered some of the Altura one’s from another PSA so will be able to compare when they come

I find Altura always comes up a bit small so if in doubt, I’d size up.

why do i read that AFTER i’ve ordered……im a 33/34″ waist and i went for medium?

Certainly converted to trousers for the not so nice conditions, i got the deal with the shorts for £60. Olive colour is nice too

Naive question – what do you mean when you say “cleaning windows”? It’s basically a squeegee with a vacuum, right? So do you mean you use it to clean off the soapy water (or whatever) you use to clean the windows? Or have I got completely the wrong end of the stick?

You used to be able to get a spray bottle with a microfibre ‘scrub’ head on it to actually wash/wipe the windows, the vacuum then removes the remaining moisture

My Varta rechargeable AA’s are ever so slightly larger diameter than their disposable equivalent. Only maybe 0.5mm overall, but enough for it not to fit in my sons toy train without getting it stuck

The marked trails have there place, as mentioned above, but the natural side is far far better to ride. Some of them are super obvious, but without a bit of guidance you may struggle to put together a good loop

    For what its worth,

I changed my whole drivetrain over the weekend, yesterday was the first ride, i went from a 33t front (on an old converted triple) down to a 30t front ring. I found myself riding alot lower down the cassette than previous. I didnt even get into the largest sprocket which is something i did use a few times before.

So to summarise, defo try a smaller chainring first!

i have used screwfix bare plaster paint with success,

but by far the best (IMO) is Dulux Trade Supermatt

I would say yes to the ins. boards between the rafters.

But if you are going to go mad and expanding foam all the joints etc to try and seal the heat in as much as you can, you may need to add some ventilation, air brick, trickle vents on windows etc.

Should make a good bit of difference though, in just retaining the heat created, rather than turning it into a sauna

Thanks for that.  Helpful for the future.  I’m also told that both Black and Decker and DeWalt batteries are interchangeable (same parent company), but haven’t tested this.

I would be surprised if that was true…

Nobody would buy the Dewalt batteries if cheaper ones fitted

I’ve just done this job, i think our slope to the back is about 200mm worst case, but it also slopes down the other way so would need all 4 corners at different heights/depths to make it level.

As its just for the mower etc i blasted some offcuts of  3×3″ fence post into the ground and screwed a treated wooden frame work to it. think there are 6 pillars in total, 1 on each corner, 1 in the middle front/back and 1 in the middle of the rear most joist. The front of the framework sits on pea gravel for drainage.

I jumped up and down on the frame before we built the shed on it and it seemed solid enough, was the quickest & cheap option for me.

    I have one….

On my alloy frame i ‘wang’ it up tight and its fine,

On the carbon hardtail im a but more gentle but it still doesn’t move due to the rubber parts on the straps.

This was a cheapy one from Mr Bezos rather than the official version.

when we had a previous extension done, we had a alu bifold, when i asked the question re ALu or Plastic, the response from the builder was the UPVC ones are sh**e, they’re bendy and don’t last 5 mins, the Alu also looks better due to the thinner profiles.

Similar to tjagain- pretty sure I’ve got a black chilli conti 26″ buried in my parents shed. Not had much use before I got a 29er. However, I think it’s X-King 2.4″ though.

If you’re interested and near north Warwickshire I’ll find it (I can’t be bothered to post it though)

Thanks for the offer, surprisingly that is whats on the rear at the minute, rolls quick but doesn’t have much braking grip.

tjagain has sent a couple of Rubber Queens my way so just waiting for Mr Postie to turn up and I can have a play.

Thanks, I thought that was the case but couldn’t remember, also I’m sure if the little crown logo was in the tread that also meant black chili

I don’t know about the fn2 but my ep3 was bombproof, I think I had it for around 11 years with no big problems and sold it nearing 200k on the clock. Rust definitely wasn’t an issue.

Agreed, my EP3 was superb. The only rust i had was from stone chips on the bonnet etc.

But now as most of them are nudging the 20 year mark they will start to suffer.

The FN2 is tame compared to the EP3, why doesn’t the OP look into something like a DC5 import? or maybe an FD2 mmmmmm dont get many of them to the pound :)

We have recently had ours changed. Had a 30kw Baxi system boiler & a Main cylinder, with a Hive control.

I did here the plumber speaking about Intergas, isnt that the ones with very few moving parts?

It replaced a vented system with a 20 year old Gloworm which was probably slightly underspec’d for the task.

4 bed house with 13 rads. The cylinder apparently keeps the water up to temp for approx 24 hours, but i doubt that very much. has made a big difference to the rads though, and its quiet!

Like someone else has mentioned above, i have the Metabo as mentioned by the OP.

It was pretty much dead on square out the box, tiny adjustment on the bevel gauge.

Its done loads of CLS cutting, skirting, architrave etc. and its not too light, not too heavy. I have the folding stand with the rollers on aswell, i’ve not wanted for a bigger one yet, but if you were doing landscaping work i imagine you would quickly get bored of flipping 4″ posts over to cut through both sides.

When i was looking originally it was a toss up between the Metabo, the Dewalt with shadow line, or the Hitachi/Hikoki with the rails coming out the front (saves on space), i heard the cheaper dewalts with the covered rails suffered from loose bearings after a while and the Hitachi/Hikoki was an unknown quantity at the time.

If i was in the market to choose again i would probably go with the Hitachi, or save some more pennies and get the Bosch with the snazzy folding arm!

Water stones and some YouTube videos.

    It’s like a hobby in itself 😃

Agreed….we have some Richardson Sabatier, im using the 1000 grit whetstone to sharpen them to a good edge, never as good as factory, but still finger chopper offer good enough
