I have a kryptonite fahgettaboudit chain. They didn’t touch it. They went straight through the frame which is nice soft aluminium.

I paid vat and duty on forks from germany but didn’t pay any on wheels from china. I didn’t pay anything on tyres and brakes from germany but who knows if I will for the groupset on the way.

Electronically controlled gearbox and do away with the derailleur completely.

Bike discount had the upgrade kit up for 640Euro before taking the page down.
So guess its going to be around 400 for the derailleur. Thats going to hurt if you bash it or sram quality makes it unusable as the pivots wears out in in 12 months.

Moxie all the way. Look at the bike above.
I have a sirius on the way and if it rides like the moxie only less travel I’ll be a happy boy. Ps I had a mk5 soul.

Thanks for that. I have paid, I will send the letter and evidence to HMRC and see what comes of it. Update this thread when you find out please so others can get an idea of what it will cost.

    @bruneep

I purchased a fork and had my invoice through today for a similar amount £232.
Did you pay this then request a refund or have you refused to pay it?

I just received an airshaft from r2 bike today. Ordered Friday and here today. Because it’s below £135, the price advertised is the price you pay.

I have a park tool pcs 10. Its big, cumbersome and heavy. It doesn’t pack up small. But its stable, bomb proof and easy to use.
I leave mine up all the time in the garage. It’s definitely not one to pick if space is short and it needs moving about regularly.

If you are happy to do a lot of preventative maintenance you can run them sans seal. For a dry wether only road bike a good quality skf, fag or other top quality manufacturer non contact bearing is fine.

After reading this thread I purchased a yeti 12oz cup and lid. I have one complaint, its too good, my morning coffee is still boiling in the afternoon and I burnt my mouth yesterday because of it.

    What is it?
Do you have the box and papers. This will greatly effect the price and Saleability.

The German custom system ATLAS was down for emergency maintenance on the 11th of march. It could be contributing to some slight delays in deliveries.

I’m sure I greased the seals on my 2019 fox 36. It still needed the seal driver to seat them as they were tight.

Absolute waste of time. I’m assuming the battery is lithium and not nicad. The lithium battery will way naff all in relation to a motor/gearbox. The frame will be heavy as to support the gbox and motor. All other components will be over built because of, you guessed it, the gear box and motor.

And watches. Go to wherever buy the watch, post the documents and box back to your address. Forget to declare on your return.
With the saving you could get a nice week in New York thrown in with your rolex.

Nukeproof neutrons. They are lighter than most metal pedals cost a 1/4 of the price and last just as well.
I had burgtec penthouse mk4 (metal) on an old bike. I have just purchased another pair of neutrons for a new build. I couldn’t tell the difference between the burgtec and nukeproof so saved the cash.

I have a wahoo elemnt bolt. Its ok but basic. The mapping is pretty poor. Gps logging is also pretty poor compared to garmin.
But it has good battery life, very reliable and connects to my wahoo kickr without any issues.
I see it more as a training tool than an out and out satnav.

Put the paint cans in warm water before using. It will spray better in these temps. Best tip I was given by a pro car painter.

I dismissed the vag cars when choosing my company car. They only had the 1400cc engine which meant I could only claim the lowest fuel rate.

I have had pretty much all brands at some point. But I’ve stuck with magura. Gon for mt trail this time on a hardtail build I’m doing.

    Try a xg1295. Cheapest uk price £290.
I know you have ordered a chain but the x01 chain is the best value chain as it lasts. There is a thread on mtbr which plots £ over distance the x01 came first and the nx came second.

Looks broken. It might ride great but the top tube to seat stays look like something heavy fell on it and bent it in the middle.

I have purchased a merida big trail 600 for the girlfriend. Looks a decent frame with a good reliable spec.
She will be using it for a work commute and for trips away and local. Basically for everything.
I have just put my name down for a pipedream sirius s5 to do the same job.

I couldn’t find xt in the uk and the no one really knew when they would get stock. Ended up going sram x01 at considerable cost but had a 4-6 week lead time.

My bike discount order turned up. Value of £200 and no duty or vat.
Looks like they are waving stuff through for now.
Hopefully my forks get the same treatment when they are in stock.

I have a mountain equipment coat that I use for the bike. Picked it up from elis brigham in the sale for around £130
I sized down from my normal size due to not needing layers underneath it.
It is perfectly cut for mtb. Long arms so no gap for water to get in. Dropped back that covers your arse and cropped front so it doesn’t bunch up at the front when seated.
It gets hosed down after a muddy ride then washed once a month in winter. Its now 3 years old and still looks good.

Not a hse pro but worked in an old powers station that was built from asbestos.

You are right. There should be secondary protection to potentiallystop the release of fibres. Air sampling isn’t protecting you from the now. It only serves to prove there was a release.

If there is a release that could effect health then it is reportable under RIDDOR
Do you have a union rep?

I used sram olive and screw in barb on a shimano xt lever before with no issues.

Its the best I could find with the information available. The 20% vat is calculated from the price + duty, which seems to be 6% on bike parts.

    So quick maths would be
    600+36+127=730 plus shipping fees

There seems to be two duty values for bike/parts. One source says 6% and the other 4.7%. I’m not sure which is correct.

From a thread I started a couple days ago.
    Price + 6% duty + 20% vat + courier handling fee.

The p2s on my 26” kona are way stiffer and better for it.
The amount of flex in the exotics was disconcerting when riding. If you are happy with them then all good. My viewpoint differs and thats ok too. But it is something to be aware of.

Sirromj- thats fine if you liked them. They felt like wet noodles to me and I’m 80kg so not exactly heavy.

Getting hold of stock seems to be the problem.
I live on the salford/prestwich border. Dont know of any LBS around here (only moved here summer)

I found the exotic forks realy flexy. Was ok on my ss inbred 29er. I wouldn’t trust them for more than a bimble on canal paths tho.

    So uk vat is 20%
Uk duty is 6% on bicycle parts.
Plus the handling fee of roughly £15

The part I’m looking for is a pike ultimate. Euro to gbp the fork is £550
So landed to my front door its going to cost me £708.
Cheapest I can find in the uk is £782.
    £74 difference.
Would you have any issues regarding warranty as they were purchased overseas?

I have a kickr v5. It’s so expensive that I guilt myself into using it every day. I’m now loving it and look forward to a quick 1hr spin in the evening.
