Having worked in the brewery I can tell you theres a reason the beer doesn’t taste right. The place is **** bogging.

We’ve got a Sam Smith’s in Newport and it’s a decent place to go for a pint but unfortunately the beers not the best. Pint of ‘man in the box’ anyone?

Had an 07 Focus automatic handed down through the family when I changed jobs and lost the company car.

It’s cost me £130 for a new ‘special’ battery lately but that’s all apart from a few services and MOT’s and it runs like a dream. Even if it is a little crusty around the edges.

Suppose it depends what your using them for?

I’ve got some Trojans which I find very comfortable and I always use the high top style like with ankle protection. Arco is great for safety boots though I would recommend going there and trying some on. Avoid the Arco low ends though the last pair ruined my feet.

My Mrs likes the Rawson’s Retreat red which I get from Tesco. I don’t know if it’s the being pregnant thing but she swears it tastes like real wine. Whereas I think it tastes like crap. Worth a try though…

I just had a look at my speed and to be fair to BT I’ve got nearly 5 times more speed with BT than I do on my normal signal and that’s right by the hub. Sounds like I’m stuck with them.

You need to tell her she has been unreasonable, you seem to have plenty of examples. You don’t have to agree with her to be supportive like others have said. Maybe making her see how it’s going to affect your lives for the worse will shake her out of it a bit?

I was a heavy critic of Anscombe when he played fullback in the past but I was really impressed with his efforts at Outside Half especially in the 6N. I like the option of Biggar on the bench as an impact player.
Don’t think Priestland is in garlands plans at all.

We have a few graduates where I work and have had some placement students as well. We make speciality elastomers under the chemical arm of a major oil and gas company. Maybe oil and gas is a way forward?

There’s an ATS Euromaster in Magor and if you really want to branch out a branch of ETB (Exhausts, Tyres, Batteries) in Newport that are pretty reasonable. Bit of a stretch from Ross though.

Just tried the foot under the bum but I am not flexible at all and it’s been out for a good 24 hours and the knees quite swollen, will ice and try again.

That’s the problem, as soon as it’s back in I can go back to normal but now I’ve got to sign off on the sick for a week as I can’t walk.

Well hopefully the physio could manipulate the miniscus back into place. I can’t live with it if o can’t walk on the affected leg. Thanks for that cure though I’ll give it a try. I used to stretch it out using the other foot as support but that hasn’t worked so far.

Seeing a consultant tomorrow so will probably have to go under the knife again.

Merlin advertise on their site that they have a shop attatched to the warehouse. Bought a Malt G1-X frameset it’s very good so far.

Yeah it’s looking like that, this will be the third arthroscopy I’ve had if I need another. Could do with it being manipulated back into place ASAP though.

I did deploy some GT-85 but so far it has failed to lubricate it back into place

Been following the race on Dotwatcher and it’s been hell of a ride from Fiona. The leader after two days had to scratch due to sever saddle sores and she hasn’t looked back.

Faletau is a class player but can’t seem to keep injury free. We didn’t really miss him for the 6N and we’ve got a few options for the whole of the back row so I’m not personally worried yet.

    Starting back row for me:
    6. Wainwright
    7. Navidi
    8. Moriarty

Will probably **** it all up in the quarter finals again though.

@n0b0dy0ftheg0at sounds like you need to check out the Planet X London Road.

One of my favourite ever commutes/rides was in the pouring rain where me and a colleague raced the entire 3 miles home without ever saying a word and laughing the whole way. I am sometimes swayed by the weather but not if it would put someone else out of pocket as the OP says.

I’ve tried quite a few of these mentioned lately due to my partner being pregnant and also just not fancying a hangover. I do find the poeple questioning why annoying though, as a grown up I’m sure I can make my own choices, but that’s just me lol.

The Lidl Patronus is the only one I really didn’t like and I’m not sure if erdinger gave me a bad stomach.

As far as tasting like real alcohol goes I find a lot of the drinks lack the mouth feel of the higher alcohol versions so taste a bit thin but on the whole a lot of the stuff coming out now is great.

Probably say the Free Damn was my favourite. Might pop out and get some now.

Mavic All Roads? They’re 24H and 23mm internal. The fully built ones come tubeless ready as well. I’ve squeezed a 30c tyre on mine.

Ordered a bottle of Jameson’s which was then delivered with age restricted delivery. Neighbors offered to take parcel but unfortunately they can’t as it needs to be someone from the household.
Luckily the very kind driver came back later in the day when I was back from work… On a Sunday as well, hero.

From what I remember of my time in the measurements department in my apprenticeship we had a machine that calibrated the torque wrenches. You basically tightened up a 1/2″ drive socket that was attatched to a NM readout and that told you if you were at the correct torque when the wrench snapped. There was then minor adjustments on the wrench. If they let a 17 year old at it im sure it’s not too difficult.

I’ve got a podsacs saddle bag and it does sway when fully loaded but I’m talking a full 4 days worth of clothes and kit sat in there. Took it to France and used it in anger for the first time on a road bike.

When your climbing it wobbles around a.lot but on the flat it’s quite stable you just need to adjust to riding with it on.

Took a pair of SPD SL pedals apart and cracked the bearing housing but after that I got the hang of it.

If there’s play you can take them apart and clean out all the grease and then tighten them innards slightly as you would with a cup and cone bearing. Then regrease and reassemble and you should have a like new pair of pedals.

Having worked 8 hour shifts and 12 hour shifts I certainly would suggest that you look closely at the shift patter before accepting. I used to do 7 on and 2 off which was awful. Luckily we do 12 hour shifts now and I feel much better or it.

I’m a few years younger than you but I made the difficult decision 6 years ago to leave the company that trained me and move on to something else that was slightly less pay but on the face of it seemed to be better.

Of course the reality was a lot different and I ended up travelling the country having arguments with grumpy salesmen about why I couldn’t repair their equipment with the zero spare parts they had provided.

But I persevered and applied for everything going that I was qualified for which led me nicely to a job 3 miles away from home that I can ride to and has a lot more benefits than I’ve ever had.

Morale of the story is it will all come good in the end.

Great write up start to finish. Really thinking hard about doing the first leg of the ride up to Brecon as a one nighter.

Plastic trunking top entry into a plastic back box in my garage and the thing was built 2 years ago so must comply with regs. Can’t see why there would be no knockout on top, take a hole saw to it?

Do you mean the fork is dropping out without a stem on?

Yes that’s what I was worrying about. My previous fork didn’t have sealed bearings they were the ring assembly type and everything seemed to be pressed in and then the fork was held in place with the compressions ring on top of the top bearing.

I cut and assembled with all the spacers I had as I wanted to have the bars as high as possible so I may try putting the 5mm on top like TiRed suggested. It does seem nice and solid though and im.awaitijg a few more parts before I can get it test ridden.

I ended up measuring 13 times, cutting. Little bit off the end to practice and then going for the full cut whilst holding it in the jaws of my bike stand….
Feel free to call me a cowboy 🤠
Also neglected to wear a dust mask because carbon fibre lungs sound pretty robust.(I’m not allowed to use them in work as I’m not tested or something so I didn’t have one available to ‘borrow’.

Seems to fit fine my only concern is that the bearings don’t seem to be pressing together and holding the steerer in place. Is that normal? I’m afraid of torquing it up to far as my calibrated arm doesn’t do 5nm.

Recently went on a cycle touring trip around Brittany on an old bike I had to make some hasty repairs on whilst my son was in nursery.

New BB in and cranks back on I happily rode off the ferry and put into the French sunshine where the crank pulled away from the chain ring and was left dangling from my cleats… Hadn’t tightened up the crank or put the bung in.

I’ve just bought a Merlin Malt G1-X frame for £300 which seems to be pretty good value considering I’ve already got all the parts off my old bike which snapped at the seatpost after some slight user error.

If you’ve already got some parts knocking about frame only might be an option to build up something your happier with?

Jack Thurston posted a link to a Devon Coast2Coast ride earlier on. Devon C2C
Looks like a very good route and mainly on the Tarka trail and old rail lines.
