Try claife heights, just over the lake on the ferry. Nice ride from cartmel fell. Nothing to serious, but still great fun. One of my faves.
There’s also some stuff in chapel hose woods worth checking out, quite hard to find the trails tho, but just above cartmel fell.

It’s fun ain’t it! Never rode to get fit, that takes all the fun out of it! Now I’m married with kids, its also social, as its the only chance to see my mates! Still get a buzz riding now as I did 24 years ago when I first rode a mountain bike.

Loweswater gold anywhere is amazing, but at the tower bank arms in sawrey, on the way home from a ride around claife, or grizedale, is very special indeed.

not much space to park in kentmere, unless your really really early and park at the church. Better off parking in staveley, plenty of room to park and food and a pint at the finish.

just got back from paphos this week. We had a drive in to the mountains and they look superb for riding. but not sure on rights of way, or sign posted trails. lots and lots of wide dirt tracks though. There is a mountain bike shop in pathos that does tours i believe. possibly called mtb pathos? they might be able to help.

Rode the black for the first time today. And its great fun. Cant wait to go back and have another go. Could have easily spent the whole day just playing on this one trail.

Anyone who thinks this is smooth and boring should step away from the keyboard and get there bikes up here and actually ride the trail. its loose, rooty, steep, and very jumpy. just what grizedale needed. All the riders i spoke to today were really enjoying it. Good mix of riders too, from downhill lads on big bikes to xc lycra blokes on hardtails. Good job done to all involved building the trail. Took the camera up, so pics to follow.

hotmail hacked on monday night, all my contacts sent an email with a link about making money with google. one contact who opened the link has had money taken out of his account in america.
different password to here, so don’t think its linked.

Not sure about paying, mine was free!
I rode on intermediate 2, up fell foot road across kentmere park, and down 3 rivers. 20 of us on the ride only out an hour 15.

My dad had the same problem with the sectors from crc. Orderd them in November, canceled them last week, after getting the run around from them.

would like to see minnar get a win on home soil. watch out for graves though, reckon he’ll be up there this season.
Be interesting to see if gwin can take the pressure after a storming season last year.
As for danny hart, hope he can carry on where he left off last year, but has being world champ got in the way of training and preparation for this year.
Whatever happens, i cant wait to watch it all unfold.

Just got home from a route around hawkshead, great sunny weather and 3 pints of loweswater gold in the tower bank arms, where by complete coincidence, my dad rolled up for a pint, after a blast round claife. all in a good but cold day out.

As with any kitchen, get a good fitter. our howden’s units are ok, for the money, but the appliances they supplied are terrible, they’ve all broken within 4 years.

Don’t worry, you will see EMF live, but it will be in 16 years time in field just outside of kendal!
Don’t give up racing mountain bikes in a couple of years time, stick at it and you might be half decent.
Take all the rough times and put them down to experience, by 2012 you’ll be in a happy place!

Been to nearly all of them. great event every time, but they are long days, lots of hanging around, walking about, looking at bikes, and lots of midges. So i reckon not ideal for kids. There is always something to watch but depends how long your kids boredom threshold is.
Was thinking of taking my 6 year old this year, but not sure if it could spoil a good weekend!

par boil, place in pan of hot olive oil. drizzle oil over spuds and sprinkle cous-cous over the top. cook till golden, with a couple of shakes inbetween.

Heading out of grizedale you need to be on the fox bridleway. at the bottom turn right up the road climb. as you start descending on the road, look out for a fire track on your left. climb over the gate, and ride up the track until you see a bridleway on your left. this is hole in the wall! When you reach the road go left, till you get to esthwaite water. turn right and head for sawrey. just past the sawrey arms, turn left on bridleway, short climb, and superb descent to finish on. at the bottom of the bridleway, turn right and head for ferry. This is the best way to get from grizedale to windermere, its a great end to a ride.
