come down to staveley and do the sam houghton challenge. 48k route around longsledle, kentmere, and troutbeck. think you can enter on the day. not much to enter, and all for charity. food in wilfs afterwards and party at beer hall in the evening. tidy!

the fort bill track seemed to have better racing when the track was shorter, before the world champs.

to be honest i thought it was a bit dull. until the semis and finals, now that was worth watching. shame gough didnt get the win though.
hope the dh brings more luck for the brits.

got my hardtail set up with 36 single ring up front. rode a 25 mile loop in the lakes no problem. considering going single ring on my full sus trail bike.
the front mech is such a pain in the ass to set up, and is generaly crap!
    never liked them.
although, doing 50 k charity ride in a couple of weeks, so need all the gears i can get.
swap and change as the ride dictates i reckon.

i’ve had a 224 for 5 years now, and its superb fun. but have been looking at a am bike to replace it.
the only problem being that the 224 aint worth that much so probably going keep hold of it.
buy 2nd hand if you go for the dh bike.
where in the lakes are you?

Ay up Rich you’ll soon forget cannock chase, nothing more sweet than a midweek ride up kentmere and a pint in the eagle on the way home, all on your new doorstep.

There are two tracks on farlton, the old race track on the front, and some new illegal stuff round the back. both good fun to ride, but look out for the farmers, have been known to threaten bikers with big guns

Jwt, what did you reckon to the stuff that may or may not be in kentmere?

I got it frame only. think the pump is fine, although ill check it.

Thats not a bad idea james, ill look in to offseting the wheel slightly. the rim is straight, and it only rubs under loads, or hard cornering.
the frame is an ironhorse mk 3 trail with dw link, so there is not alot of space for wide tires.

I lived in burneside for a year, after growing up in staveley, for 28 years.
only moved there because staveley is so expensive.
negatives: pub, strange locals, floods, noisy factory at night.
positives: good chippy, and think the school is ok, but the headmaster is a mate of my dads, so i would say that.
wont be moving back in a hurry!

yes i am father to samuel and cameron, but not the prime ministers wife.

    its not the best solution.
if you dont mind losing a couple of inch of room space, stick insulated plasterboard on all external walls. i've done this on quite a few properties and it works a treat.

we camped at the quiet site at ullswater last summer with our two young kids. nice big playground for them to run around, and a decent pub with games room for later. if the weathers good its highly recomended.
