Brendon making the right decision on second runs  and understandably not happy.

In later years he went on to play Fred Elliot in Corrie, I say, he went on to play Fred Elliot.

Must have lost his feathers along the way somewhere!!

MASK  and transformers were a favourite, and the toys you could get were brilliant! I may still have some in a box somewhere.
As for looney tunes it has to be foghorn leghorn! Cracks me up every time.

We rode geforcejunkys route over the Col de La Basse. It’s a bit of a climb especially in the afternoon sun, but the views are stunning. And the  Singletrack decent down the other side is very nice. I found a route on Trailforks to follow, so navigation was quite easy.

Thanks for the advice from  all above, that really helped. We’ve just got back from finishing the ride. And it was excellent! Probably one of my favourite days riding in this area.
We also met Tahnee Seagrave in the lift queue at pleney, and passed Jolanda Neff wheeling down the road in Essert Romand! Brilliant day ?

Going to give this route a go tomorrow. How tech/steep is the descent in to Essert? Wife’s hurt her wing last week and is struggling a bit with the mountain bike.

I’m currently sat In Morzine having similar thoughts as the OP.  Here on my cotic jeht (popular on here it would seem!) as my eldest is on my old airdrop edit. He is flying on that and I’m struggling to keep up. I’ve had a wander around town this afternoon and the cheapest deal I could find was an ex hire commencal furious for 1700 euro. Or a 2020 commencal supreme dh for 2500 euro! Think I’ll Nick the airdrop back off the boy!

This just happened to me to me this morning,  10k in to a 50k ride! Tried to ride on but had to turn back.  I’ve had this happen a few times now, always linked it to my job as a builder. If I’m bending over a lot, or building low walls it will start to hurt, then just as I think I’m recovering, pop it goes and I’m goosed for a week😡 Pilates and core strengthening does help, but I’ve let both of those lapse recently. And now I’m paying the price!

I have Graves’ disease, and my thyroid was fully removed in 2017.
I wasn’t sure it was the right thing to do so I dithered for a couple of years before deciding to have the operation. And to be honest it’s all been fine up to now.
Took a while to find the right dose of thyroxine for my needs , but once that was sorted I’ve had no problems at all.

I doubt my wife and kids would manage 12/13 days riding on the trot! Not sure I would nowadays to be honest!

Heading out to Morzine in  a couple of weeks, and looking at lift passes. There’s four of us riding and I’m looking at buying passes for 5 non consecutive days for the whole portes du soleil area. Is this the cheapest way to buy passes? Or are we better off buying day by day for the area we’ll be in that day?

Looks like the lift in Morgins is closed for summer 23!

Can’t seem to find any info on an alternative way to the top apart from riding!

Greenland was up all last night with a stomach bug according to his Instagram post this morning, so he just crossed the beam in qualifying to make sure he’s in finals on Saturday.

Bridleways were still blocked 3 weeks ago, but we managed to push/scramble around the fallen trees to reach the last fire track to natty bridge. So passable with only a few minutes added to your ride.

Tetrad in Preston make great sofas. Check out the Facebook page for what’s on offer in the factory shop that’s open Fridays and Saturdays. We have bought five sofas from them over the years and all have been well made and comfy.

Just signed up. Some difficult choices this year especially in the women’s. Hopefully I’ll keep a closer eye on things this year and not pick all the injured riders!

Is the called something like ‘Grandpa and Dentist’? Thanks, I’d forgotten that one

Depending on who you talk to, it’s Dad, Grandand and Dentist. Or some call it three witches!

Did a lap of garburn about 6 weeks ago. Troutbeck (west) side is cutting up but still rideable if you have the legs.
Down in to Kentmere is probably the roughest it’s ever been in the 30 years I’ve been riding it! And it’s bloody great!😀
Not much flow, but the faster you go the easier it gets. Sore arms and big grins at the bottom.

I rode/pushed up the fox yesterday and It’s only been resurfaced on the flat middle section where all the big puddles were, possibly 200m or so. The rest has had a few holes filed in. It will still be be a fun fast decent.
It looks like they’ve only done this to remove the felled trees from the fell. No sign of any machines or heaps of stone, so I don’t think any more work will be going on. I have pictures but no idea how to post on here now!

In situations like this I would usually put wires and lights in from below leave the existing ceiling in and overboard and re plaster. Saves a lot of mess and hassle and you get a nice fresh ceiling.

It’s currently very wet all over the Lyth valley, forecast is for heavy rain all day tomorrow, strong winds and light rain Saturday and light rain Sunday morning. Sunday afternoon looks ok. The bridleways around chapel house woods are mostly rocky so shouldn’t be too bad to ride, but most of the paths that are used to link up the bridleways will be mud bogs!
Whitbarrow scar will be pretty good on the ground as it’s all limestone up there but the wind will be an issue as it’s mostly in the open. Most the fields in valley bottom are flooded or sodden so avoid these! As above, If the ferry is on, a lap of Claife is great in any weather and a far better ride than anything near crosthwaite. Cheaper option for food in this area is the damson dene hotel, only a limited menu but nice enough pub food. Hare and hounds at Bowland bridge is under new ownership and I think you can have a Sunday roast for £12.95, looked alright last week when I was in for a pint mid walk. Enjoy the weekend!

Also fan of the 49ers since Joe and Jerry, so really hoping for a win tonight. But Mahomes is a very special player and I think he’ll win it for the chiefs.
Going to try and stay up and watch it all but doubt I will make it past half time!!

Sound advice thanks, I’ll start by looking at Cervinia.
I like the idea of Eurostar direct as well so will also look in to this option.
    Cheers.

Some good advice on here https://www.leelikesbikes.com/top-5-pump-track-mistakes.html
I have used measurements from lee’s website in the past to make some wooden rollers for when the kids were young and learning to ride and they worked out really well.

If you’re after live music, try bootleggers. Depending what night of the week you’ll be in Kendal there’s usually something on.

I wonder if a call to Tim Farron would be in order? He knows the area well, and might be able to help shed some light as to why bridleways in the lakes are receiving such treatment.

It wouldn’t surprise me if HP was next, as that has recently taken a real beating from the weather. If HP doesn’t get treatment I suspect that something fishy has gone on regarding the resurfacing of 3 rivers!

Passed through Genoa on the train this afternoon, a very sad and eerie sight seeing the green lorry perched near the end of what’s left of the bridge. It stands so high above the valley, And could be seen for miles.

All good info so far, thank you.

its looking like Freiburg as a base, and then use public transport to visit other areas is going to be our best option.

Has anyone any experience of hostels or good value hotels in the area for a family of 5?

Thanks for the replies. Looking up Titisee and Freiburg.

We will be there in July, so hoping it’s warm and sunny.

Three of us had a trip up to Peebles last week and we each had a room in the hydro for £29.50 bed and breakfast. It was a Tuesday night, so think that’s why we got the good deal.

I use fabric’s cageless on both my gravel bike and comencal meta v4. Used on uplift trucks and chairlifts and never lost a bottle. But still easy enough to remove and use while pedalling. Only downside I can see, is a little paint scuffing of my frame where the bottle rubs when it is removed. Great product!

If the syndicate riders fill the podium on Sunday, I fear the Internet may have a melt down!
If it makes them get down the hill quicker then why not use 29.
It’s going to make for some interesting racing hopefully.

If you are anywhere near preston, tetrad make great sofas, and have a factory shop in the city that’s open Friday afternoons for some great bargains.
