riggsy, did you have to bounce it to get it back to downhill position? suspension was far too stiff for me at 10 stone, the first section after you go through the forks really battered me, more than a scott scale did

ahh your right hora, it went into "nanny mode" above 3000rpm for a while, lost all power so had to stop and switch off and on again, but nothing major. great in snow too :D

sounds right ash, on the one i tried, the suspension pressures were too high, so really needed a big hit to use much of the travel. i descended much faster on a scott genius :S

old audi A6 or passat if you can find one. Our A6 has done 249500 miles and has never missed a beat :D tows better than our land rover discovery, and pulls better from cold as well. really easy to do big miles in, and cheap for any journey any way :D hora wants it ;)

i tried one of those on sunday at bikeradar demo day, awesome bike but quite heavy, and the rear brake made a weird noise, and the bionicon system wasnt working properly so i had to bounce it to get to downhill position. great if it works properly though :) schrickvr6, the forks are bionicon own brand double agent, it means the whole system works :D

cheers for all the help. im used to a fairly steep head angled bike at 70. i get what your saying knottie, need to try one really. anyone peaks based got one at 100 i could have a go on? i think i will probably be an 18 and almost 6 foot, means i can still have a bit of growing room and adjustable with different stem/ layback post if needed.

thanks. I wouldn't keep it at 100, probably go between 120 and 140, but this really is on a budget, so forks would almost definitely be second hand, hopefully U-turn or TALAS. Ive got Suntours on my merida, which are probably cr@p, but i dont know any better, What's the head angle with 100mm forks on?

ended up going along to birch vale, up lantern pike, down past peep o'day, down the track to the ashes, then up to the top of campsite descent and down :D now my favourite descent, i love how it can be done with very little braking :D

smell – new bike smell. i dont know what it is but it smells nice. and call me weird but i like the smell of mud :D
sound – silence when in the air, clattering through rough stuff or my silent freehub

quite tall for a 13 year old. i am in the same position but 2 years older than him, and i really want a long forked hardtail. exactly like chuckys really. Coilers are fairly cheap second hand on ebay, orange bloods are nowhere near as common and quite expensive. could pick up a bighit pretty cheap aswell if he want something more downhill orientated, but the older big hitts were 26 inch front wheel, 24 inch rear.

i was staying at relatives in oxford and there was a rave nearby. they set the firewoks off at 6 in the morning, then 2 hours later there was a steady flow of stoned wizards walking up the road

bunnyhop, i have a laptop in my room, and sleep when i feel tired, but i dont usually feel tired until about 11 or half 11. its not that i want sleep but dont get it, its that a get as much as i need, but that isnt much. saying that, i only got up 2 hours ago :P

12 – 14 hours of sleep would mean i would have to go to bed no later than haf 6 in the evening because thats when i have to wake up in the mornings. but i can easily cope with six and a half hours.
