I ordered a Haglofs Krait softshell last time they had them in and I really like it so far, not really been cold enough for it yet though. It’s quite thin, would probably work well on the bike over a baselayer for Spring/Autumn.

Try surfing? Shouldn’t be TOO busy yet as most schools haven’t broken up for the summer yet.

Forestry at Uni then the appropriate plant operator licences I’d imagine, don’t hold me to that though.

Nice one, will email a bit closer to the time as riding will be weather and other plan dependent.

Sounds like a winner, also means I’ll be going in the same direction as the beach traffic if it’s sunny. Have done a bit of Kayaking before (can’t roll though) but never really done much on the Salcombe estuary. Will email you.

Having seen that you live in Whaley on other posts (could have collected from you), I almost asked you to get order a Chunky Monkey even though I don’t need one. Thank you for not waiting any longer, you saved me £15.

As above, it’s normally alright other than between approx 5:00 and 8:00om. Having Said that, it once took me 11 hours to get from Shropshire to Salcombe

Moonglu ftw. Can probably build them before then if needed, though they may have a set in stock, and I specced mine with 20mm adaptors. Matt H at 18 Bikes is known for building very good wheels too, so they’d be worth a shout.

Horsethief is worth a try (reccommending my own bike shocker), I was very surprised how nimble and “poppy” it felt, despite it being very long (it’s almost as long as I am tall = probably 6’1″ long…)

Cheapest I could find was £1200 as a named driver, the joys of being 18  Our 2010 Golf Bluemotion Estate is insurance group 6.

Salsa Horsethief. Not sure whether they can still be had cheap, but I got mine for £800 with a 2013 Fox CTD.

Had mud+snow tyres on our old A6 all the time. Swap between summer-ish tyres and General Grabber ATs on the Discovery. Seeing the difference between the two, it’s no wonder the tyres it came with didn’t work in the snow 8O

We sold our 1995 Audi A6 1.9 TDI for £450, 292k miles and I’d have had no doubts about driving it any distance.

Tour Du Mont Blanc is awesome, but bear in mind the weather may be awful at the start of September. We got caught out in a blizzard on the Col Du Joly in early September and it’s the closest I’ve ever been to Hypothermia.

Chamonix’s awesome, but other than the bike park at Le Tour it’s pretty intense. Great place for doing stuff other than riding though, although it’s pretty expensive.

I used an EXO Ikon on Monday for a 4 hour ride in the Peaks and it was awesome, but there was no mud so I can’t comment on how it’d be in the mud.

Always wear a killcord, even with our 2hp outboard. Pleasantly surprised by the lack of idiocy in Salcombe, although it’s difficult to see if others have killcords on or not. Must admit that having a harbour speed limit of 6/8 knots is really nice, much quieter and better for sailing. Some pretty rediculous boats down there mind (2x350hp outboard Boston Whalers for example). A terrible tragedy that could probably have been avoided.

I’ve ridden it once before, some of the climbs were unridable but I reckon I could do all the descents. Wouldn’t want to do it on my own though.

I did the TDMB in August and thought I was going to die, but eating plenty, drinking loads of water and wwearing my Skins A400 shorts seemed to work remarkably well. End of the second day was hard, but that was the hardest day and after that I was fine.

Not gonna happen I’m afraid, I’d hit something even if I was in an empty car park! Feel very lucky to be able to drive our Golf Estate though 8)

Might do Ady, you going? Need to be back by 6 for work but will also depend on the weather.
Magic roundabout looks alright as long as you know where you’re going before you get there.
