Bought a Bell Super today, fit is as good as the Hex but fits around my head more, rather than on it. Cheers for the suggestions everyone.

Unfortunately, I’ve got a massive head.

Had thought about another hex, but now I think about it I’d ideally like a bit more coverage at the back. Cheers for the suggestions.

It comes in sheets of varying thickness, which are then sewn into the jacket, meaning whilst you could have a synthetic jacket lighter than a down one, it wouldn’t be as warm for a given weight. However, it has the benefit of not throwing out insulation if you rip the outer material.

I wear my Montane Prism ALL the time, it really needs washing though as it’s pretty disgusting at the moment. Lots of very similar jackets about, Rab Xenon, ME Fitzroy (slightly warmer at 100gm insulation in the torso rather than 60 for the prism, but more expensive as a result). I’d go for synthetic over down as there’s no need to worry about getting it wet and it turning to sludge.

They’re pretty stiff in my experience, I wouldn’t worry about that legend.

Would recommend Stans Arch EX on Pro2 hubs, I’ve got them on my Horsethief and had no bother from them in the past 18 months riding in the Peak District and North Wales.

A mate works in a shop that sells cannondale bikes and said the lead times on them are fairly ridiculous, although he would be getting it at trade so presumably would have to wait for there to be a surplus in stock?

Day 1 – work so hopefully an online stream of some sort
Day 2 – Woodhead somewhere, hopefully somewhere I can escape before the crowds do so I can get home quick

It looks like someone has ridden it really hard into a wall.

You could build a very nice Salsa Horsethief or On-One Codeine for that much.

I’m hoping to drive over to Glossop and ride up the Longdendale trail to where Holme Moss meets the Woodhead road, as I need to be back in Whaley Bridge for half 6 that evening, tempted to Cut Gate though if the weather is good.

Salcombe’s good, a bit pink chinos and champers but it’s got some very nice beaches.

One of the most exciting finishes I’ve seen in a long time.

I like my Mountain Hardware epic gloves, they’re properly waterproof but don’t have very much insulation. Hands can even feel a bit cold to start with even in the snow, but warm up nicely after a few minutes.

Having said I’d have one of those 3, a carbon version of my Horsethief with a shock with lockout and Reverb stealth routing would do me just fine.

I’d probably have a Tallboy LTc or a Bronson. Would love to try an SB95 though.

I hope they do a Rocket in green. Or blue.

Chunky Monkey gets my vote. Big-ish, sticky and cheap.

In contrast to munrobiker, my Madison Tempest shorts were awfully made and I returned them after two weeks, but my Endura Superlites have been absolutely superb for over a year.

Cheers, I’ll give them a punt and see how it goes.

Montane Prism. I’ve got a bright green one, looking for a black one for a bit more subtlety.

Must admit my socks are calf length, so haven’t experienced socks full of water.

Sealskinz socks make a massive difference to any shoes, kept my feet warm and dry this winter. Make sure you get some waterproof shorts too, a whole new world of wet weather comfort.

I’ve been using Stans Arch EX (you’d want Flow EX I imagine?) for the last 6 months with On-One CHunky Monkey/Smorgasbord tyres (Maxxis Ikon EXO more recently) and had no issues with them losing air, all very easy to inflate with a track pump. I think proper tubeless rims + tape makes it far easier to get a good set-up.

Not Draper. The handles appear to be made of the pith from inside bamboo stalks.

They seem to be a role model to the rest of the world too, and they sell boats to all sorts of places after they’ve been used. Saw one in Reykjavik at Easter.

Going to Bangor. Cleaners only clean communal areas rather than bedrooms, so that shouldn’t be a problem, just trying to keep mud off the walls/carpet/everything. Cheers Gunz, that sounds perfect.

Dog ate Halo a while back, emailed XBOX and they sent out a new one for not much money (maybe even free?)

NWMTB in Cheadle is good from what I’ve heard, as is the Bicycle Smithy in Hazel Grove.
