I found my large Super pretty comfy, but then got an A1 (xl-xxl) and it’s far far more comfortable, if slightly sweatier.

Heard of that done many times using BMX tubes, presumably to make the fit is tight enough.

Currently on a Crosby Coffee blend and it’s one of the nicest I’ve ever had, I won’t describe the grinding method I used though for fear of having the coffee beans forced into my ears.

I live in Whaley too, thought the commute requirement might be pushing it so I suggested Marple or New Mills instead, but in reality it’s only 10/15 minutes further out than New Mills. Decent bike shop, LOADS of pubs, supermarket (or little shops if you prefer).

Marple/New Mills worth a look too, 30 mins into Picadilly on the train and ACE for riding from the door

I really like my WTB Asym 30s, not that light but very strong and asymmetric shape means the wheel doesn’t need dishing, making it a bit stronger.

DO you go out every week jruk? I’ll be down in South Devon for a while at the end of the month and would be keen to join you if you don’t mind? I’ve ridden Haldon before but only the trail centre stuff so it’d be good to have some local guidance!

MX/supercross riders must be well up there too

I’ve got SRAM NX (deore level I suppose) and I’ve been very happy with it. I wouldn’t say I prefer it to Shimano, would be happy using either.

That was my thinking, cheers Stu. Deciding between an Aeris or an Airdrop Edit could prove to be tricky mind.

When will XL frames be back in stock Ben? Also, any sizing suggestions for someone that’s a leggy 6’3″?

I’ve got WTB i30 Asyms on Hope Pro2 Evo hubs, built by myself as my fiurst go at building wheels and they’ve been spot on so far. Big tough tyre (Magic Mary and Rock Razor) combo may have helped somewhat

Got this combo in supergravity form from Bergfreunde.de for £60, I’d definitely reccommend them.

The steep stuff was unaffected when I rode it on Wednesday, some of the flatter woods closer to Greno have been logged but that was a very small proportion of the woods.

In my limited experience, the roads are no steeper than in the UK, they just go on much further.

Got a Magic Mary for the front so I’m hoping that’ll give braking control a good go! Both Supergravity, no punctures for me please.

Nope still in Bangor! I’ll be back on the 4th of June I think, then away at Trans Provence again. I reckon it’s doable, just not sure it’s worth it if I know they’re coming off again in no more than a week.

What would the potential benefits of going for a slightly narrower (say i29) over an i35? Less likely to ding I suppose? Tyres are a 2.35 Magic Mary and a 2.35 Hans Dampf

Been impressed with our club Scimitar jerseys, the sleeves are slightly short so maybe size up if you’re lanky, but the material is ace and the cut in the body is good. TheCycleJersey tops we had the year before were crap, very thick stiff material that was almost unwearable in summer.

Yep, rode a Kona Process 111 and wished I hadn’t because it was really good. Then road a 153 that was a large instead of XL and I STILL really enjoyed it. I’m glad I’ve not tried an XL

In the spirit of reccommending the frame I own, I’d say an On-One codeine. Way under budget (even with a Cane Creek Double Barrel air) and really fun to ride. Try not to get a white one though, mine seems to look dirty even when I’ve just cleaned it.

Cut gate will be far too wet, I’d avoid. A loop that includes The Beast, Hagg Farm, and Lockerbrook generally holds up well to the rain, Lockerbrook can be muddy but it doesn’t suffer in terms of erosion like Cut Gate does. Have a look at Keeper of the Peak on twitter for some up to date conditions reports :)

Vickypea – a point well made. It has already been filled in by quite a few people I’m afraid, so I can’t go back on what I have said in the introduction.

Set it an hour early? you’ll either wake up an hour early or on time. Or maybe you’ll wake up two hours early. I don’t really know..

I will be chrisrobs, and I’ll be passing them onto PeakDistrictMTB for their interpretations too! I’ll let you know gorillainthepeak, probably through this thread so keep an eye on it!

I agree, I’m really intrigued to see what happens! Intrigued enough to write 10,000 words on it anyway…

    Apologies for that!

Yes it’s still half done, I rode it in both directions yesterday and whilst it’s all ridable in both directions (had I not set off too quickly on the way up), it’s still the loose surface of big angular rocks. No real improvement as far as I can tell, it’s not got the mixture of grain size needed to allow it to settle (as is the case on the way up Jacob’s ladder from Hayfield) and I’d imagine the flow of water down it isn’t sufficient to move the rocks at all. I noticed no change between New Year’s eve and yesterday, other than it being dry yesterday!

Make sure you spend plenty of time getting the shock set up to your liking, just a few clicks of one of the adjustments or a few PSI (or both) can change the feel significantly, it did for my Codeine anyway.

Probably less than last year, but got noticeably faster this year. Then lost the speed again through riding 5 times in 3 months

Marin trail is really good fun, although there is a fair bit of fire road between the singletrack sections. The last descent is up there with the best trail centre descents I’ve ridden.

My first and my warranty replacement have both lasted no more than 2 months of use once a week before throwing their contents all over the floor, I’d avoid.
