EDIT: I’ve got long legs, hence why the XL might be a good fit.

He’s a sailing instructor part time and had plenty of experience sailing his laser in all weathers, so he’s pretty good. Trapeze boats are too small for our club, you’d be going across the deck more than you’d be hanging off the side. He wants something a bit more challenging, hence the 100/300 decision. Blaze is a possibility.

Not quite sure the budget stretches that far Steve, but I’ll suggest it to him.

That’s what he’s coming from. He’s had it for about 25 years, it’s truly knackered now though, and I think he fancies a change. He doesn’t do much racing, only the local club stuff on a Sunday every now and then. Will be sailed at the small local reservoir and at Salcombe for 3 weeks every summer. He’s 56 and about 10 stone FWIW, keen fell runner so no excess weight around anywhere. Cheers for the help all.
EDIT: The deck moulding came away from the hull, then either someone sat on the boat whilst it was on the trolley or the weight of us putting beach stuff on it whilst we used the other boat caused the supports on the trolley to punch through the hull, which when it’s windy, causes the boat to fill with water.

Cheers. We’ve got an oil Again, which is fantastic in winter, but gets turned off in summer because we can’t justify opening windows whilst burning money.

Gutted I missed the whale riding picture :( Soma wins by a nautical mile though.

No pictures, but we’ve got a rapidly thinning 12’Lx4’Wx8’H indoor logstore, probably 1/4 full, and with enough to fill it almost twice over outside. Not great airflow for the covered one, had planned to bring the stuff outside indoors over the summer but summer didn’t happen so neither did the logs. Also use coal, but only as a base in the log burner, so get through that very slowly. Impressed by anyone who uses a solid fuel range for cooking, does fuelling one just become routine?

Altura Mayhem are rated highly, and you could buy two for your budget.

Once I’ve finished my exams at the end of June, I’ve got approx 10 weeks to go pretty much wherever I like, but a lot of my riding will depend on the weather. Plan to:

Go up to Scotland for a while and ride most of the 7 Stanes
    Laggan
    Fort Bill red
Aviemore (the trails in the Monday morning debrief)
    Cairngorm
    Lakes
    Calderdale
    Snowdon
    South Wales
    Dartmoor
    Surrey Hills

Family holiday in the Alps, will try to get some riding in then.
Uni in September, hopefully at Bangor, so plenty of North Wales riding then.

The cost of the replica kit doesn’t even bear thinking about.

I almost always agree with Northwind, and I’m not even Scottish.

Went in 2003 for a week, but that was to meet up with my Uncle when he was sailing the clipper yacht race so in reality we only had about 4 days of doing what we wanted, I’d probably only need 4 days to see what I wanted but that’s having been already, a week would be good as it’s your first time. Everyone we met was pretty friendly.

Mine was a good while ago. CBA with this weather, so I’ve not been out much. Might get myself a Whippet, because a new frame is always a reason to ride bikes again.

I’d imagine like most things in Japan they’ll be pretty expensive.

Giffgaff give the option to add just data to the package to enable tethering, not sure about Tesco though. iPhones can be used to tether to iPads using Bluetooth.

I’ve given away shagged forks on here as plenty of people want them for spares, and I got them for free so couldn’t really sell them on.

Endura Superlite are good too, as an alternative.
EDIT: admittedly not 3/4 but long for normal shorts, mine sit at my knees and I’ve got long legs.

Doesn’t really sound viable. Shame really, but if anyone is going to the US have a look at the Santa Cruz US website, Carbon Tallboys are $1500…

Cheers, sounds less appealing when I could get a Horsethief/Spearfish for £800.

Will be more tempted to ride my bike when I get either a Horsethief or an El Guapo 29er built up.

Have my SLX levers parallel to the bars, I like a bit of movement before they bite though.

I want to start climbing regularly. Maybe even start riding my bike again.

Please video every ride, just so we can see you slide down the road on your face when the forks come apart.

Lord of War = absolutely superb film.
Angels’ Share = also good, less of a comedy than I thought it’d be though.
Ted = very funny, if a bit far fetched.

I had a similar issue, turned out to be the insert in the star nut turning, rather than tightening the top cap down onto the steerer. New star nut sorted it straight away.

El Guapo 29ers arrive late Jan/Mid Feb so I’d imagine the 26ers will be arriving then too.

fitting a HT2 BB is very easy if you take your time with it. Make sure you get the threads reamed to make it as easy as possible though. I think Cotic do it, but it’d be good to make sure.
