Generally seems to be better in La Thuile/Pila but I’ve no idea if that’s an actual thing or not

Reckon a Magic Mary fits well between those too, not quite as good in slop as a Shorty but a fair bit better than a DHF

Waterproof shorts are amazing, sound like they won’t work but are one of the best bits of winter kit I own

The Marin trail (now called Gwydir Mawr/bach) has had some work done and it’s last descent is one of the best trail centre descents I’ve ridden, definitely worth riding in my opinion.

Turns out mine broke soon after my original post, a normal seatpost was better than the Exaform because I could at least lower it. Wouldn’t have another.

Absolutely hoofed it down all afternoon yesterday at Ladybower, so I’d imagine it’s transitioned back to it’s normal boggy state.

Manufacturers often leave some headroom so they can sell different power outputs whilst using an almost identical engine.

Marin trail close to Betws-Y-Coed is worth doing if you’ve never been, the last descent is one of the best trail centre descents I’ve ridden and you can easily head up for a second go by just turning right at the top of the first climb.

Bolt on hook thing may well be the cable guide for the rear mech cable, just before it enters the chainstay. Not sure why there are two spares mind!

In the standard “recommend what you have” STW post, I really like my Kona Process 153, sounds ideal for what you describe.

Loved my C-Skins ReWired 5-4, never got cold even in North Wales winters. Front zip, so well sealed that barely any water got in and the water that did enter stayed there and warmed up. Lining dries super quick too. Worth noting that mine was a medium but fitted me quite well at 6’2″, though in hindsight a MT would have probably fitted better. Plastic bag trip helped keep the lining in good condition around the ankles.

I’d have said Petrol Accord with that description, but assume you wouldn’t want another one?

Watch that you don’t end up running a shock with too long a stroke (the 200×57 in particular) as you might find the rear wheel/swingarm hits the frame. Can’t see the 200×51 bringing about any issues but the 200×57 may well do some damage.

Really hoping Brand-X do a 150 or 170 version soon! Seems to be both one of the cheapest and most reliable posts around

Airdrop Edit V2 has a shorter seat tube too. One of the best things about my Process 153 is the low top tube/short seat tube combo

Solden gets my vote too, amazing riding! Did a very similar thing in a car with a friend, but did the Pyrenees for a week (Bagneres de Luchon, Ainsa then Saint Lary-Soulan), followed by two weeks in Morzine, then through Chamonix to Austria, Czech Republic and back via the Nurburgring and some bits of Northern France.

I’ve just done all 10 on my 153 and it made a pretty big difference to how supple the suspension was, the main pivot bearings were absolutely knackered. I’d say one full set of bearings (£70 for a full set of EnduroMax) in two years is pretty good going!

Worth noting that Cut Gate may well have returned to it’s boggy state after Wednesday and yesterday’s rain, the rest of the route should be absolutely fine though.

The Bontrager remote is compatible with a transfer post as is way cheaper (£18 vs £57), in case you do decide to get one and want to save £40!
