The firmware is home-upgradeable on the 11-spd Di2 kit – I’ve done it myself when I was installing the new grouppo 🙂

LOTR twice. Better the second time as you know what bits to skip… Tom Bombadil you f***ing waste of space!

Also the whole Game Of Thrones series. Bad as it is, I quite enjoyed a re-read with foreknowledge of what would happen. Dany pooping in the desert is still a terrible ending though 👿

Meantime brewery tour with the missus: http://www.meantimebrewing.com/. Did my exercise this morning (30 min swim + 90 min ride) so going to enjoy a guilt-free couple of nice beers this evening and a day off training tomorrow 😀

So this is a thing that happened – not sure which stage it was on though! Recreating Watson’s jump over the TdF 10 years on 🙂

Justinbieber – don’t know where you are in the country but I may well be selling my Tracer 2 shortly. Lovely bike, but I’m caught up in ironman training at the moment and it’s just not getting ridden.

Drop me a PM if you want pictures or anything, sure we can sort something out 🙂

Funnily enough, one of the main times I catch up with friends is playing online with them. I see them reasonably regularly, but I live a good 4 hours drive away from some of them so don’t get to catch up often.

Spending an hour or two messing around in games is fun by itself, but we also catch up. I’d never think of calling them to say “Hi, how are things / the missus / the family” but conversation does turn to that. It’s a nice way of keeping in touch, whilst not having to go against my manly manly man nature and make a phone call to communicate with someone 😉

Also, you can do stuff like this:

Started building up my Plasma last night. First thoughts:
    – the internal cabling on the bars & stem was an absolute b**tard to fit 👿
    – the internal cabling on the bars & stem looks really good when it’s all fitted 😀
    – the frame is LOOOOW – definitely going to need to get some spacers to raise up the pads on the front end

Otherwise good – hoping to get the drivetrain swapped over this evening. One step closer!

Plasma TT frame should be showing up today. I need to check that DA 9070 will actually fit in the stem but if it does… Pics up when it’s built 🙂

In, but only riding triathlon training rides. So mostly big weekend efforts and nothing mid-week 😀

Reading the thread title I honestly thought you meant ‘sick’ as in ‘well good’.

Dat is a sick track man. Yeah, well peng.

Tangentially related, but this hasn’t been reported widely. The SLC is going to be sold off to a private company. Hope you’ve all paid off your loans, otherwise look forward to the capped interest rate going out the door in the near future.

Social mobility? None of that thanks! What a shower of c***s

The green curry I had out in Thailand was a touch spicier than the stuff I’ve had over here, but otherwise was pretty similar.

Having said that I was in fairly tourist-friendly areas of Thailand – I don’t know what it’s like out in the jungle 🙂

iBaa – that’s almost identical to the one I had, except on mine:
    – a black dial, rather than carbon
    – I *think* the hands were entirely green, rather than black on the non-pointy bit

Thank you! At least I know that I AM looking for a 031 Future Series. I think it’s the case that the version with the very thin clock hands is the ladies version (with a smaller face overall) and the bigger one was the men’s.

Obviously I’m now very jealous of you all – but at least I have somewhere to start the replacement watch hunt 😀 Thanks to all!

EDIT: Ladies version up on ebay atm: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/ORIGINAL-LADIES-ANIMAL-SPORTS-WATCH-WS031-RARE-100M-/200636931365?pt=UK_Jewelery_Watches_Watches_MensWatches_GL&hash=item2eb6e49d25

If you don’t have any thermal compound handy, why not use mayonnaise?

    maths question:

how long will it take for car1, travelling at 55mph, to catch car2, which is travelling at 45mph, if car2 has a 5 minute head-start…

not a difficult question, but suitable for a little coffee-time distraction

Which car is molgrips driving? 😉

Eight is fine once you get used to the bigger Start menu. Not had any problem with stability so far and it’s nice and zippy on my SSD laptop.

Would be even better with a touchscreen but mouse and the windows key works just fine for now 8)

    Dropping gel wrappers.

    Correct, this is bulls**t

Infact, being anywhere near a gel if you’re not in a race.

Whilst I would prefer not to eat energy gels where possible, it’s unfortunately the only way to check that energy gel brand X is not going to induce some sort of diarrhetic episode mid-race is to test it out beforehand….

This drives me up the **** wall as well! I blame that Labrinth fella

I think charlie’s talking about a disc wheel, where there’s a small cutout in the disc to let you fit a pump (or not, as the case may be).

Silica do a crack pipe adapter: http://www.sjscycles.co.uk/silca-disc-wheel-adapter-prod23401/

You might need to google round for someone who has it in stock or maybe resort to ebay. I can’t offer an opinion on how good it is, I’m using a 404/808 combo so don’t have disc worries 🙂

EDIT: also found ones by Fast Forward and Zipp

Don’t think that offer’s still available, it was a short-term thing to get people migrating over 😐

Also you can’t play games on Linux what is wrong with you people 😉

Does the Pressure Drive work with roadie valve extenders? My lovely Topeak mini – which is a great pump – has a screw thread on the head and so won’t actually inflate my deep section wheels 🙁

For the record – the valve extenders look like so (that’s not a thread on the end):

If you’ve got a Float then, worst case, you could just reduce the travel by 10mm with a spacer.

I took 6 weeks completely off the bike, then slowly worked up to MTBing again.

You can get back on it sooner, but the big risk is that IF you crash the bone will break much worse than before, and you’ll need a bigger and more permanent plate in. Given you’ve had an annoying collarbone for 8 years, waiting 6 months would be worth it IMO.

Servicing my 36 Floats I was reinstalling the damper rod at the end of the process, without a torque wrench. Overtightened it and PING suddenly the wrench is spinning freely and there’s fox fluid all over the carpet – the rod had sheared in two inside the fork.

Thankfully the damper rod was only ~£40 to get a new one from Mojo… plus another £30 for a decent torque wrench.

Yeh but if weight was the issue you wouldn’t run dura ace anyway.

Which “Shimano Di2” would you run then? 😉

I guess for £2.3k you could go pretty light on parts… rotor cranks / red mechs / some silly light/aero brakeset.

Dura Ace 9070 weighs less than the mechanical equivalent.

I use the High5 stuff, but the zero calorie option. It’s just cafeine and electrolytes. I’m convinced that it stops me cramping on epic rides. I’ve ridden up to 100 miles off road with no cramps. For energy, I prefer real food, like flapjack, malt loaf and the occasioanl SIS Energy bar.

^^ This is also what I do. High5 zero citrus is quite pleasant!

I’ve had a pair of King R45s on Stans’ Alpha 340s for the last six months or so. Lovely bit of kit, not too whirry and roll really nicely. Total built up weight is ~1400g so reasonably light (that’s with 32 spokes an end). No mechanical issues as yet!

Can’t comment on DT240s as I’ve never used them 🙂

Thank you! Just picked up some new shorts and hydration bits.

FWIW the voucher code doesn’t expire immediately – I was able to apply it to a second basket. Now I just need to decide if I really do need those Saint pedals 😀
