^^ What TurnerGuy said. Try rotating your levers up for a few rides and see how you get on. It feels fine when you get used to it (this coming from a ex-“levers in line with forearms in attack position” user).

Immediately move £20k to a different bank. Government savings protection only covers the first £50k in a single institution. Doesn’t look like anyone’s going to fold anytime soon, but better safe than sorry eh?

You could try emailing E13 directly – they’re usually pretty quick about responding to set-up questions.

Gutted I can’t make this – it’s my birthday (30 wooooo) so spending the day with family. And I missed the last one ‘cos my car got upset on the way out of London.

Fingers crossed I’ll be free for the next one though 🙂

Get up early, exercise like crazy. Exhaustion has to kick in at some point, just don’t oversleep on the big day 🙂

Why would the electrons ever slow down? There’s no friction acting against them to slow them down…

For Armourtex I dismantled everything – removed the linkages and all the bearings and just gave them the two halves of the frame. I think you’d need to do that for most places tbh.

Seconding Armourtex – they did a grand job on my Socom, masked off everything perfectly and a massive colour selection to choose from.

I dunno, looks like a Picaddily line train to me. Does seem a bit odd that there are rules for “no bikes” but nothing for “no massively oversized bags” though 🙂

Gap as suggested or Banana Republic do some decent smart trousers. I find the cut fits my “strong legs” rather well 🙂

do your bit – fight to save the NHS

How exactly do I go about doing this? Write to my MP? Is there a “Save the NHS” campaign around?

Edit: not having a go – genuinely interested as to how I can express my POV to the people making these decisions.

I cycle past that place on the way to and from work. Was wondering if it was much cop – guess I know the answer now 🙂

I’ve just started using them. Takes a while to get used to because of the way they use your legs differently, but my running gait is changing already (in a good way!)

One thing I’d say is that you definitely need to try a pair on before buying. I usually wear a UK 10 or 10.5, but I wear take a size 8 VFF.

I was driving down the motorway the other day and I saw a sign that said “Stationery traffic ahead”. How I laughed at the idiocy of the signwriter!

Imagine my embarrassment half a mile later when I ran into the back of a WHSmith lorry.

I didn’t have “depression” per-se, but I was very unhappy around 18 months ago. I didn’t even bother with the NHS – I just went straight off and paid for counselling myself. It wasn’t cheap and I had to take some time off work to attend the sessions (thank heavens for understanding bosses!) but it definitely helped.

Best wishes and all that – hope things get better for you.

If you live in London, Armourtex in Hackney are good. Did my Socom in a rather fetching blue for £60, and managed to competently mask off all the areas that needed it (head tube faces, ISCG mounts, bearing holes, etc).

I need a big tough bag to carry stuff in. Ideally something expandable and easy to haul around, hence my first thought was a rucksack. I’ve got a couple of decent wheel-able suitcases, but I’m not sure I want to travel that heavily – I may end up doing some travelling when I get to Thailand.

Thanks for the suggestions so far 🙂

Wrap a layer or two of electrical tape round the outers where they’re rubbing?

I don’t bother with changing tyres. Always 2.5″ High Rollers, ST on the front, 60a on the back.

Having said that, both my bikes are dressed for the same purpose and I don’t race competitively or worry about how long a climb takes. If I was serious about racing – XC or DH – then I would absolutely change tyres to suit the course / weather.

As it is, the most important thing to me is grip on the way down, so I stick with tyres that work for that and compromise on the ups.

Dismantling a Tazer to build a Soul.

Funnily enough I’ve just dismantled a Soul (and a 5.5) to build up a Tazer.

Of course I bought the new frame before selling the old, so now have a serious money pit under the stairs! Ah well 🙂

Mine started on Sunday morning, by Sunday eve I felt pretty bad. Took Monday afternoon and Tuesday working from home rather than poisoning the whole office. Now sat back in work and it’s moved from a head cold to a big cough.

Fingers crossed it’ll be gone for my mate’s stag do on Saturday!

Don’t bother, calluses are great and stop you getting torn skin in the same area.

Took me a couple of years of rowing for my hands to harden up but now they’re nice and tough, no worries with rowing or cycling.

I’d go second hand for that money – maybe a Blur / Tracer / Meta, something like that.

The “hit box” issues aren’t anything to do with hit boxes – it’s just that Theatre mode records things from its point of view (i.e. that of the host). Due to lag, this isn’t exactly the same as the view of the shooter, so you get Killcams and Theatre mode footage that looks way off.

Hey here’s a sniper montage I saw that I thought you might like.

Everything I’ve read about IT band says RICE doesn’t help – it’ll just come back 🙁

If nothing’s changed on the bike – have you changed anything non-bike related? Started running / upped your running mileage / changed to a job that includes more physical activity?

I took a mid-travel bike on the jumps course and a DH bike to the singletrack cornering course. As it turns out it doesn’t make much difference – it’s all about the rider.

I had my Intense Socom done by Armourtex. They masked off the head tube, BB, ISCG face plate and all the bearing mounts no worries.

Finish was great when it came back. Also – if you’re not sure about colour, they have a series of metal pipe offcuts sprayed in various different colours so you can pick one based on how it’ll look when it’s done.

Aa above – getting it diagnosed properly would be a good idea.

If it is IT band problems, they won’t just go away with time – you will have to put effort into stretching to get back to full health. I’m suffering with IT band issues at the moment and stretching and foam rolling is doing wonders (even given how painful the rolling is 👿 ). Good luck with the recovery!

Just chiming in to say that HSBC has pissed me off with this widget nonsense as well. TWO new “personal questions”, the calculator widget and a new security code.

NO I’M FINE AS I AM THANKS. I DON’T TELL PEOPLE MY PASSWORD BECAUSE I’M NOT A NINNY.

Sam B – where the hell did you find that? I’d be frightened if I hadn’t noticed most of the posters are probably taking a break from humping their sisters somewhere in Arkansas…

Haha a friend of mine posted it on facebook in a similar “is this guy actually serious” vein. Some of the comments are astonishing 😯

I picked up some SRAM S30 Race wheels with 100 miles on them from ebay for £400. Riding really nicely so far.

I also found a set of SRAM S80 deep section carbons for £500 – waiting for them to arrive before I can see how nice they ride 8)

Couch to 5k worked for me:

    http://www.coolrunning.com/engine/2/2_3/181.shtml

Bear in mind that it’s designed to ramp up not just fitness but also get your body used to the impact from running (which cycling won’t help with). Don’t be tempted to skip weeks – take it nice and slow and build into it.

Also: definitely try to concentrate on landing mid-foot rather than heel striking. Think rapid short steps rather than slow long ones 🙂
