Was running racing Ralph with stans race sealant. Both tyres got cuts rather than punchures. It really struggled to seal the front and failed to seal the rear which I had to fit a tube on the return trip. If I was to do it again I would opt for a heavier duty tyre over the thin xc tyres.

I live 20 mins drive from the start at knettishall heath and drive past it on the way to work. I got the wife to drop me off in the morning then she drove to Holme next the sea with the kids to have some fun on the beach.

On the route these isn’t much in the way of shops etc. I saw a few pubs in the villages you go through and a spar shop in castle ache.

Peddars way comes out on the a149. The road opposite goes straight down the beach. There is a pub in Holme. I didn’t see anything else. Hunstanton is a few miles down the coastal path.

I Rode back and had the wife collect me back at knettishall later that evening

Well I did It. What I ride it was too. I covered 97 miles in just over 9 hours. 3 punchures as lots of flints in places. Glad I did I didn’t think with my fitness it would be possible, amazing what the right food can do at regular intervals

Still putting up with this. Concemplating a new dropper but want to try a few things before. I want to try and put the original dropper lever on to see if it’s a bleed issue or lever issue.
With regards to quick service. I’ve never had one apart. Any way to lube the wiper seal etc without taking the oil etc out?
If its simply a bleed issue I’m temped to try the wolftooth sustain

I’m being drawn to the oneup. I could possibly just squeeze a 210mm drop in. If not drop it down to 200mm. I wasn’t aware they are the same internally as brand x. I’ve had two brand x posts. Apart from the early levers being poor and they start to get alittle slop that been ok

I’ve been drinking plenty for the last few days, also eating lots of carbs. I’ve jelly beans, flap jack and bananas at the ready, plenty of water. 1x 29er hardtail. Upped the tyre pressures, upped the fork pressure in hope of better pedalling. Off for a good night sleep. Anything I’m missing? Wish me luck

I’ve experimented with tokens and air pressure, running from 20% sag down to 30. At 30 it’s very plush on small bump sensitivity. At the lower sag it’s alot firmer and I don’t like it.

The Megneg says its designed wit to make a more supple top end, more support and more ramp up. That sounds more progressive to me.

I’ve Had the same feeling about the fork damper since new, it’s 5 months old now. I’ve played around with the rebound setting myself, used the ones rockshox had on the trailhead section and also paid j tech for settings. It starts out great but throw into a rock garden at speed it gets wooden.

It’s a whyte t130s. With tokens it’s only 160psi to 30% without its 180psi. 13 stone kitted. At first I thought it was a faulty shock. I’ve spoken to 3 people with the same bike whp report the same thing

Thanks for the input. The the bike yoke easy to service? And the oneup just has a cartridge like a brandx?

Thanks. I’ll give it a go Sunday. Weather doesn’t look to bad. Scattered showers in afternoon.
I know I can get there. I’ve covered that distance before. So basically, keep the food and water up, pace yourself and just keep peddling?

    Thanks

The setup I have with the shock at the moment I’m kind of happy with. I just don’t like that I can still bottom it out without much trouble on bigger stuff and that it’s at its limit on tokens to looks like from comments on here that the Megneg is the way to go.

Ill probably keep the standard debonair piston. Poss the addition of an mrp ramp cartridge as seem between tokens. 2 tokens isn’t enough and 3 is to much.

Am I the only one who doesn’t like the damper on repeated hits then? It’s a charger rc. I’m not sure if I should go for the charger 2 or 2.1? As an upgrade

I had exactly the same issue on the 5th gear (counting up from the smallest) on two bikes equipped with gx. The chain is catching on a tooth ramp on the cog next to it. A few seconds with a demel sorts it. There is videos online covering this issue

Planning this ride at the weekend. I don’t think I’m ready to cover 100 miles yet. I’ve done 200 in the last 2 weeks and 40 miles currently seems my limit. Going to send the wife and kids to the sea side at Holme next the sea and I’ll meet them there. 46 miles

Anyone rode the route from thetford recently?

Since this post I’ve managed to go on 2 night rides! Both only around an hour 😂 so probably right in thinking I was a little excited about the nights drawing in and then reality gets in the way.

I’ve been using some old Chinese lights, one came from aldi and to be honest they been doing OK. I’ve a liking to lights without batteries as they are a bit of a faff. Ad mentioned above the bikehut 1600 light seems reasonable for the money, extra 10% off with British cycling.

Also one of these Chinese torches for the helmet.

That’s a shame but to be honest looking at the pics online of the pump mounted I expected it to hit!

How bad does it hit? Enough you could space the bottle mount up slightly for clearance?

Going back to this. Just brought a voodoo bizango 29er, stuck some racing Ralph on and can’t believe how much easier it is which had brought me back onto the tyres on my t130. I love the grip on my 2.6 tyres but 90% of my riding is xc/trail. Has any one used schwalbe rocket Ron or rock razor? They look fast rolling

Thanks for the input, understand with the bigger tyres they ain’t going to be great but if what I have isn’t too bad I’ll keep as is and I just man up abit!

Small update, I’ve done nothing else with the post, I’ve been on a small ride today and found if I sit on the seat in my normal position I have to bounce the seat to go down, if I slide forward on the seat slightly, like 5mm it’s fine, the fault has started since I changed saddle which I’ve finally realised today, going to slide the seat forward slightly and retry

I’ve spoken to the company who serviced it who believe it could be a bleed issue after ruling out the basics. I’m running a 1x lever which apparently the hose can draw in air when threaded onto the barp? When pulling vacuum when bleeding I do get small bubbles, I’m not sure if that’s meant to stop? They is after pulling vacuum around 20 times with the syringe

Finally managed to sit on a 20″ bizango. It looks like a massive frame, it would be fine for just long rides but I wouldn’t mind the ability to have somthing with some chuckabilty so have opted for a 18″, will be able to get a 150mm dropper in it although dropper routing looks odd, cable exits on the back of the seat tube to the chain side?

No bizango on stock at warehouse so have a 2 week wait

Found another store who had a 18″ bokor instock which I’ve had a sit on, to be fair it didn’t feel to pad, 240mm from top of seat clamp to seat rails so room for a 150mm dropper post. Would have liked to sit on a 20″ to but non of the 29er In stock where this size.

Can’t help much with your sizing, I got one within the last two months and am a medium. They come with different size cheek and neck pads, small and Large and the mediums fitted in the helmet so I’m guessing if you got a medium lid you would use the smaller pads and if you got a large lid then possible the larger pads?

I had bleed issues. I found using hope easy bleed ki helped alotx I also removed my rear caliper and bleed it lower than the bottom bracket with a bleed block. Worked a treat after getting air stuck in the loop where the hose hoes bellow the bottom bracket

I’ve around 500 miles without the whole chain wedging between the jockey and mech cage destruction. Been faultless, they are slightly wider than stock

I know the lockout works fine. I’ve not adjusted the rebound since I’ve been back, it felt fine when riding.

Thanks for the reply replies, I didn’t know about the gnar dog token, seems it fills all the small spaces up at the top of the shock, with the two tokens I have now I seems to have fair bit of adjustment to go.
The bike the shock is on is nearly new, it’s been used 5 times, I didn’t know if suspension had a settle in period where things start to move easier and loosen up, if that makes sense?

I’ve found just messing about On my drive I can do a bunny hop and push the bike down hard and it will bottom out, I’ve no idea if thats to be expected or not?

Is it normal to fit a large amount of bottomless tokens to shocks to stop bottom out so easily, my old bike had a monarch and I had to fit 6 or 7 bottomless rings in that to make it ramp up

Have you been spending less time on the bike? Just a thought, my fave saddle’s been hurting a bit lately. However I think I’ve just become un-hardened to it as I’ve not been riding as much.

This couldtbe a factor, I did have a few months off the bike before getting back out again, possibly worth trying it a few more rides to see if its just me getting back into it

Ref weight I’ve gone off the spec from the website of the shop who are building the wheels, after the comments on here about the ex3 weight I think there is a typo about the weight shown on the site , both built with pro 4 hub, standard dt spokes, rim weight that are advertised are the same as above, but the total build Weight is 50g lighter than the dt rims which are a lighter rim.

Also can be built with cx Ray spokes for another £100, might be a bit overfill for your average weekend rider?

Hello, first thanks for the replies, secondly sorry for the late reply, I don’t get on here much but wanted to update on this situation.
It was a bleed issue, the hose it routed bellow the bb, which puts this section of hose bellow the bleed nipple.

I brought a hope easy blles kit which makes things alot easier, it basically just allows the master cylinder to hold more fluid so your not constantly topping fluid up while bleeding.
I removed the rear caliper and screwed in to abit of wood down lower near the floor and then bleed it, this removed all the air and has been spot on since. Hope this will help anyone else who may come across this

I remember seeing pictures on one of the Facebook pages.
I’ve contacted whyte who have pushed me onto the dealer I Brought it from, the shock won’t be with me till Monday to check frame alignment

I’ve been sent some pictures of the damage to my shock, I’m going to push this with sram, whyte or my dealer as the bike shouldn’t have gone through 2 shocks in such a short amount of use. It’s only scored up one side, I think somthing is out of alignment and it’s been side loading the shock
