While on the subject os “snail” has anyone tried the floating rotors they do on ebay for £11 each? Not sure I would trust them! Alot more to go wrong on brakes than a chain ring

I’ve managed to find a black xx1 shifter on ebay for £64, looks mind and apparently used twice. Anyone on here?

Going to swap out the inner and outer cable aswell, it requires a fair bit of pre3when shifting up the cassette, I have nx 12 on another bike and find this alot easier to shift

13thfloormonk this is one of the complains I have read about.

I’m going to get the bits and see what it’s like. I’ll fine a few notches in both of the adapters to ease removal too.

    Thanks

I’ve a 3 year old cocker spaniel which I wanted to take out with me on the bike. I tried a few times but if he sees an animal while out he’s more interested in that than me on the bike and just buggers off…

I’m happy with my alloy biz. Only thing I’ve done is add a dropper, wider bars and swapped the wheels for some superstar/wtb from the October offering and decent pedals. Does me perfectly just general xc and long days in the saddle stuff without much tech. Fork gave me some issues after 3 rides, lots of stiction which went after a lower leg service (they are grease and not oil lube)

The spec on the carbon doesn’t lot horrendous, I love the colour but the way the the chain stays drop down looks odd

Managed to fit on of these on my whyte t130. I’ve opted for one positive and one negative token as no idea where to start off from. Gone from 160psi to 200psi to get 30 percent sag. Not had the chance to ride yet, quick driveway bounce shows it takes very little force to get the shock to move and ramps up alot more. Looking forward to getting on the trail with it

Thanks for the replies. I’ve been looking into the Wahoo Elemnt Bolt from recommendations on here.
Can someone please give me some more info on how the offroad maps/navigation works as I’m completely new to these and no idea what to expect.

If I was to load a gpx file to it how would it work? I guessing off road isn’t going to be turn by turn nav? A map and a marker denoting your posiob that map?

I finally managed to get to the bottom of the reverb issue. I did a 50 hour service as wasn’t sure if it was a bleed or sticking post issue, inside grease alit grubby but nothing horrendous. Top and bottom bushes fine but replaced bottom and new top cap which was scratched after a tumble.

Took the 1x remote off. Trimmed cable so it’s got a fresh end, Held hose with shimano clamps and wound the remote back on tight then it carries out a bleed.
    Working as good as new

You can use a hope 30mm bottom bracket then use the hope dub conversion kit

The main thing I’ll use is being able to download files of off peiste routes and follow them.

Rode my wheels for the first time yesterday. After 20 miles they now have slight wobble and lost some spoke tension so will be going back for a free true which Just looks like I have to cover postage to superstar?

I too have the same issue with the front end caps. When fitting the front wheel, If I knock it slightly when fitting the caps fall out!

@tinglesrack my damper says charger on the top?

I’ve followed the instructions on sram YouTube video exactly but still not right. Was fine with the button but with 1x I have to sit on the nose of the saddle to depress the post. If I sit in the middle or at the back of ree saddle I have to bounce to get it to drop.
I have spoken to sram who mentioned removing the lever. Cut hose end then use a 13mm spanner to remove the barb completely from the lever, thread the barb onto the hose, then install the lever back on then bleed so I’ll try this. Mines been like this since February but now starting to annoy me more!

    @paulh110

Did you ever rectify this? Mine doing the same since fitting a 1x remote.

Am I right in thinking there is side to side adjustment on the central bolt on the bearing too?

I just found a video on YouTube showing the shimsno mount working on the hope brakes. The lever you have is the LA one? I believe its around 5mm longer lever over the normal ones

Slight change. The UK suppliers don’t list the hope mount like they do on wolftooth site. So it’s either a band clamp or the sram clamp which I have an adaptor to mount that to my brakes.

    @onzadog
what clamp is it that you use?

I hadn’t noticed the xx1 shifter. Was only looking on Rutland the other day. It’s marked at 2017, is there any difference between that and the latest offerings

500 it is, thanks again molgrips

If performance isn’t much different then I’m not sure I could warrant the price tag. The rear mech is definitely a better built unit

Thanks for the Input molgrips, do you find the 500 to be enough light on a helmet? I’m stuck between 500 and 1000. Granted the night rides I do are only xc stuff so probably don’t need mega bright

That dakine one seems just the right size for what I need, Rutland cycles had them reduced to £14 since I’ve brought two for both bikes.
    Thanks

My wheels turned up yesterday which is quick considering I ordered them Saturday. They run true and spoke tension feels good. Yet to fit them yet. The rear rim came pre scratched, suppose its going to happen at some point anyway. Rear adaptor caps are a really tight fit, the fronts are alot looser and literally fall out as you touch them, need to adjust the centre spacer between the bearings too as ita dropped down before I can get the axle through

@ivorhogseye it’s been alot better since. It didn’t cause a shifting issue in mine just an annoying click in the 5th gear, (1st being the smallest) a little tickle on a dremel stopped the chain catching on two problem teeth on the next gear and it stopped the noise

    sam1988

@ivorhogseye, this is a known issue. Ive had to do the same on mine

Tempted by these lights. 1600 on the bars, anyone using the smaller ones on the helmet, either 500 or 1000?

    sam1988

Yes was thinking of swapping from the charger to a charger 2 or 2.1. I looked into the fast damper on tf tuned but they are £240 where as the charger upgrades are 200 euro

I’m wanting one for my whyte t130. If I use a gnar dog and one token it doesn’t ramp up enough and bottoms out a little to much. Add more pressure and it gets harsh. A gnar dog and 2 normal tokens I can lower the pressure and its very plush but doesn’t use all the travel

I moved the jockey wheel yeatersay to see what it’s like if it was a tooth out on the nw. The chain just sits on top of the wheel, you would know if it’s out as it would make a noise when pedalling

Surley bearing life between the two brands comes down to what bears they each fit? If one fitted bearings the cheapest they Could get hold of and the other has somthing quality like skf with actual grease in there will be a dramatic difference in life of that bearing. I cant tell you what uber have fitted as I never looked

I had this on an old rp23. Went for service, first rude after wiper seal started coming out as the seat the seals in deformed. Had a new air can unfortunately

I ordered a set last night. V6 hubs on wtb i23 rims for my voodoo bizango. Only reason I’ve spent more on the v6 for £240 over the v3 hubs at £160 is I’m a sucker for coloured parts, v6 hubs in blue where as v3 is only shown in black. Guessing this is to keep the price low.

Bike was new in February and its done it since day one so I opted it wouldn’t be down the wear. The jockey wheels spin fine but I’ll check the direction on them.
Chain lengh is somthing I never thought about, lesuire lakes built the bike, going of their work on other faults I found on a new bike I never much doubt they touched the chain lengh. I’ll get a picture later and try to upload later.
    Thanks

I’ve had two sets of plastic ones fault taking the mech with it. Luckily both warranty. The second had the latest sram jockey wheels on it. I’ve tried the first set uberbike made but they didn’t last very long before the bearings failed. I like the look of the superstar ones as they also have the ridge on them to stop the chain wedging between it and the cage

Does anyone else’s gx set up drop the chain in yhr 50 tooth on back pedalling. First t130 didn’t do it, newer model I now have does

    sam1988

I’ve had gx Eagle on two bikes now. It’s never been perfect even with lots of fettling and setting up. Some days it will be fine, others lots of clicking etc and poor shifting.
5th gear on gx cassettes have a known problem with chain catching on one tooth causing an annoying click g g ich I’ve ground down
Im waiting for the hope microsplibe freehub in January to give xt8100 a try

Im about to pull the trigger on some v6/wtb wheels for a cheap xc home I have. I’ve been unable to find a review of long term reliability of the hubs. Can only find about loose end caps and freehub body’s which it’s my understanding that’s been sorted.
The replies from superstar seem very to the point, seems like a guy who cuts out all the bullshit. Not sure if that’s a good thing or not
