Barbury Castle, south of Swindon. Regularly used to ride up there in the morning before work, on my 1979 Holdsworth Special. Sit on the old hill fort and smoke a fag and then come back down the road at 60 – 65mph.

Ok I hit a recorded 55 down there according to my old cateye computer the run back home to Wroughton was alot quicker than the ride up to Barbury

But on my old Litespeed road bike 64 down Snap Hill very forking scary

I used to use a DMR hub with a WI freewheel for about 6 years with one bearing change to the freewheel

I now use a Hope s/s cassette hub ( I got a deal on the hub but I was looking at the superstar hub)

The old wheels just worked the new wheel is shiney and full of Hope goodness ( and heavier despite the same rims )

    just go DMR

Hmmmm reminds me of a guy in the early 90’s I met on the Ridgeway who was pushing his bike because of a puncture
    I asked
    ” are you ok”
    curt snotty reply
“yes I am I have a mobile phone!!”
In awe of this chap I replied
“arn’t tyre levers and a patch more appropriate”
for some reason he gave no reply

How much is a trail bounced IPHONE4 worth?????

I prefer the slow revving relaxed driving style of diesel engined cars.

hence all the traffic jams in Somerset 😉

Take some pictures of your current flat and sell them. They haven’t been in so they need never to know and it’s just about what they deserve.

Sorry PP but the carbon On ones do not look too good in the pictures.

But I have not seen one in the flesh either

Mind you I have had several on-ones and they all ride realy well so please do not think I am knocking them on anything other than asthetics

I am 5’8 and ride a 17.5 simple with the seatpost 50mm short of the max line on a 350mm post and a 60mm stem

    Fits me a beaut

but in a nod of agreement with Haze I had to go for a 16″ 456 because the 18″ just felt too big

you have to try before you buy if you are a inbetween sizes

    gears gears gear gears 🙄

on a s/s you are NEVER in the wrong gear 😀

My preferance is 95% of the time my s/s ok so I walk more but hey if it was a race I would have a number on my bike.

All I can say is try it.

    Depends where you live realy

I have a place in the Haute Vienne ( near Limoges) and living in Devon I could drive to Dover bloody awful route 225 miles then do 400 miles the other side which would involve a night stop on route

But I prefer to pay extra and sail Plymouth Roscoff, why because I finnnish work, go home jump in my car drive 70 miles to Plymouth and get on the overnight ferry so my sleep patterns are not interupted, wake up fresh at Roscoff and drive 400 miles. This route saves me 2 days holiday per visit
