I had a Argos custom fillet braised 531 audax frameset built for me which was ok I guess and I used it for alot of rides including a 600 k Audax ( never again) but alas felt abit er sluggish at time especially climbing

I bought a Pompino and it rode so well I bought a Kaffanbak the next week and sold the Argos because the Kaff is a much better bike at a fraction of the price.

What I am trying to say is the Kaff will take some beating.

I rode a few times in the 90’s with Nev “Chainring” he was hell of a characture, his passing is a great loss.

In his 60’s he used to gobble up miles at an unbelivable rate

    Sad sad loss

I have a Picasso 2.0 diesel and I used to get about 15k using michelins at the front end at £90 each ( I drive the car as a family car so no heroics in a picasso)
I changed the fronts to Prestivo’s at £50 a boot on the advice of our tyre supplier saying you will not notice the differance and they were right and the same tyres are there 30k later with loads of tread left

Prestivo also have a superb warrentee the wife hit a pot hole and blew out the sidewall in her car 10k+ miles 1/4 life of the tyre used so 75% off the cost of a replacement new tyre which cost us £14

    Prestivo’s for me

Middleburn cable oilers are brilliant I use em on all my bikes and the cables only get replaces when the outers are cosmetically shot

I even use em on my 456 which has full length outers all the oilers are fitted in the middle of the outer lengths so any crap gets blown out. I never get a problem with friction affecting my shifting.

In reply to the above posts about sealed cables I have tried all sorts Gortex et all bloody expensive and the do not last long ( for me). But hey each to there own. I just like the cheapskate options.

other blades I have used are

Feather- too dam sharpe and I cut myself alot and I suffered razor burn. Not for me
    Derby – felt blunt
    Merkle – ok nowt special
    Wilkingson sword- not very good

please note these are my findings but for othere folk may dissagree but each to there own

Have a look at post 33 and 34 on page 2 of the link

yes the guy does have ” more rattle to him than a skelaton tossing it’s self off in a metal dustbin”

    here you are

Go to the phone dialer and dial *#*#4636#*#* (DO NOT press send or call button) just wait a second and you will get the ‘test’ menu.
In the test menu choose ‘Phone Information’
scroll down and choose on the first drop down – GSM auto (PRL) (for high speed data) or GSM only (You may get 3g if not use GSM auto (PRL). I have chosen GSM (PRL) setting and it works fine on my HTC desire.
Back out to test menu then back into ‘Phone information’ to see if it sticks (if not try again) then back all the way out. Mine stuck with my chosen “GSM (PRL)” setting on the first attempt itself.
You might want to reboot (power on and off for those who arent familiar with reboot terminology), but I found the settings worked straight away and I didnt need to reboot.
I don’t take any responsibility for step 6 – 6) Try other settings on the dropdown if you are brave as I don’t know the consequencies of using settings like “EvDo only” and “unknown” as they may be better depending on the way your provider provides information. I have not tried any other setting changes. (….. yet!)

    Running a 456 with 120mm Maverick SC-32’s

I do not think I would go longer cos it handles so well with no low BB issues

The way I read it from On-One the 456 will take anything from 4″-6″ with the sweet spot at 5″ 130mm
