PB this year, mainly due to long period of furlough and great weather in the spring.
    So far in 2020,
    920 hours (+70hr vs 2019)
    31,852 km distance
    166,000 m elevation
Highlight was being fortunate enough to take part in two sportives with real people (one gravel, one road) just as the rules allowed it at the end of summer.

Take it your personal devices can detect wifi networks? That would narrow the problem to the work laptop. Might just need the latest wifi adaptor driver installed – your IT support should be able to do this.

After discovering my existing ethernet and wifi system had a number of slow spots where it wasn’t making the most of the new FTTP service, I’ve just installed a Netgear Wifi 6 mesh (one router and two satellites).
The poorest areas (garage pain cave, wife’s working from home office) have seen speed increase from 25Mbps to 300Mbps. All simply due to a better wifi coverage compared to the old and pretty modern and expensive single tp-link router.
The other advantage of the mesh is that there’s only one wifi id/password, so as you move around the house, your devices connect automatically and seamlessly to the strongest satellite without switching wifi networks. Also for me, I’ve just ripped out my legacy ethernet cabling, gigabit switches and powerline adaptors as they are now way behind the wifi capabilities.

Agree with riding it. you need the sealant to find it’s way into gaps. The other thing I’ve found useful is to run a line of sealant around the tyre bead before you inflate and seat it.

Been using Bose SoundSport Free in ear wireless buds for Zwift training for 2 years. Really stable in ear. You twist them in, not like a screw! More like 1/5th of a turn and they kind of lock in place. Can do 3 sessions on a charge. Sound quality is great too. Stable bluetooth connection to phone. Used for approx 1000 hrs to date without issue.

Don’t think it is this but recently fitted Xt 11-42 cassette in GRX 1×11 set up and the noise was due to the cassette being loose. Why? Because, despite being an 11 speed cassette, it needed a spacer on the freehub to ensure it was clamped correctly. Taking a further look, I think it’s because the inboard surface of the cassette is concave, making the clamp length more like a 10 speed cassette.

I’ve used Wheels Manufacturing bearing extractors with great success before. In fact used one this morning for a 15mm ID.
If your bearing is 10mm ID then this one will do it

Got one of these frames set up with either conti gp5000 tubless 28mm with guards (it has mounts) or for much much more fun, Schwalbe GOne allround 35mm.
    Ridley Kanzo Speed
It’s a belter of a bike. Only seen one other in the UK so far.
In XS, seat tube c-t is 480mm and effective top tube is 525mm.
Ridley sell it with a Shimano GRX set up, but since it’s got a front mech mount, I’ve transplanted my SRAM 2×11 wifi hydro groupset. Looks really sleek with internal cabling.

    21,940 km

First one for me. Spent a lot of time trialling various wet weather kit and didn’t need it – amazing weather. Only trick was layering up correctly for 2 or 3 degrees in the cloud on the downhill of Kirkstone to 15 degrees up Hardknott. In terms of atmos, incredible. The bell ringing through all the villages and through Winlater was a massive encouragement. The marshals were all on the ball and a cheerful bunch too. Recommend it to all. Oh was aiming for 7.5 but did it in 6.5hrs so chuffed with that with my old man back

“Anyone had problems with nipples failing on the stock Kinesis wheels?”

Not quite but….The nipples on my Crosslights seemed to corrode and seize. I discovered this when re trueing and the nipples crumbled away. Bit of a bind I thought so I took them to the LBS for a rebuild with new nips. Then things got more interesting when the mechanic said the job was a no go after he discovered the rims had circumferential cracks in them between eyelets!

99% used for road commuting duty so nothing unusual in use.

Overall, nice and light for the cash but utterly shoddy (IMO).

I’ve run Conti GP 4 season 25mm’s for a good few months with no issue. Bit on the tight side though so always carry a tough tyre lever like the Topeak shuttle.

Big thank you to the chaps who put on the ride today. Must have been daunting with such a large group but you had us well organised. Everyone I met today was really friendly too and gates rule was superb especially on the Jagger downhill at the end. Cheers everyone!

Use my Nexus 4 regularly on rides. Longest was a 7.5 hour Strava recorded ride. Used phone to make calls post ride and sat nav function to get home. No problem at all with the battery on that occasion. On mtb rides I keep it in a case (for bumps) inside a waterproof bag, inside my Camelback. Common sense really.

Just tried The Bike Shop on Monk Street, conversation went along the lines of:
“do you provide the custom fit service for Shimano custom fit shoes?”
“what do you mean trying them on?”
    No then

Place on London road don’t do it for Shimano on Bonty.

Closest to Derby I’ve found so far with capability is Cadence Sport near Burton but no availability until November. Next nearest is Swinnterton Cycles in Stoke – so I’ll give them a go.

    Cheers for all your suggestions.

I had the same issue a few weeks back, when I was away from home and I needed to remove the cassette to fit a new spoke. Like you I only had the adaptor and an adjustable spanner.

The first thing I tried worked a treat. Put the bike upside down and use the chain itself whilst resisting the turning of the cranks. I don’t think the wheel was in the dropouts, just somewhere neer so that I could bet a bit of the chain on the cogs. Little fiddly but very effective and a ride saver for me.

    Good luck!

Ditched the car back in 2003. Had 2 Vito’s since then with no regrets. Obviously suitably practical for biking but also finding the van ideal for new family life.

Mpg not brilliant have to say (mid 30s at a guess) but then I don’t do too many miles a year.

Really great day out yesterday – first PP for me (brown stumpy) and buddy (red/black stumpy).

    Top notch atmosphere, friendly dudes.

Many thanks to everyone that arranged it and kept the bunch in check

I’ll try to link some of my own photos soon.

Nice one. Sounds like a good use of a Sunday.

I’ll be there on my brown bike. Maybe +1 too.

Mental M : Giant looks a good bargain – will consider.

titusrider : Canyon’s look a good deal too. Anyone rate the Canyon Nerve?

    z1ppy – new is what I’m after

titusrider – In this price range LBS stock standard brands, i.e. Scott, Specialized, Cannondale, Commencal, Cube, GT, Kona, etc.

I feel the sensible thing is just don’t think about it and lump for a Specialized. But on the other hand that’s too obvious and your expert thoughts would help.

A 12 noon start would be a good move for those that travel from afar.

Overall I thought the event and facilities were superb. The marshalls at night did my morale wonders, especially the 3 guys blasting out and 'singing' Ghost Busters at 2am! Couldn't get "I ain't afraid of no ghosts" out of my head for some time.
