    I’ve got a 575 and am 6′ 1′ and ride a large. Although they come up slightly bigger the medium would be too small for me.

    1. If you stay at the hotel for one night you get two days entry to the park at the moment. Err, that’s about the closest thing to a ‘deal’
    2. We went the week before easter and we didn’t queue for anything, no problem at all. I wouldn’t even consider it in holiday season.
    3. No idea, sorry.
    4. If you keep heading down the M4 you’ll be in Wales..

    I’d go for the 2011 fork with the tapered steerer as the FIT upgrade is easy enough to do at the next service and much cheaper than a new CSU – if you did want to upgrade to a tapered steerer at some point.

    Is the dad wearing a cycling top that makes him look like an eff off bumblebee?? If so avoid.

    3:19 Why does he not just go past him? Perfect opportunity. Instead he chooses to loop back on the trail to end up behind him again? Bumblebee guy was blocking the trail to the right so he could have cruised by end of story…

    New cable outers too short? Fine on the work stand but not under compression of the suspension?

    Hey, it’s all good stuff. Thanks for the responses. The energy efficiency of the building is obviously related to the cost to heat the place, hence giving some context with the EPC info. Focusing on better efficiencies within the building is probably going to be more productive than trying to beat the market – provided I can keep the wife away from the thermostat!

    I’ve just been through a similar process. Ended up with a shortlist of;

    Sony HX9V
    Panasonic Lumix TZ20
    Olympus SZ-14

    I surprised myself in the end and went for the Olympus, I handn’t really considered one until I started hunting about in the web. Plus points are the 24x zoom and the price really. Sony & Panasonic are approx £200 but I got the Olympus for £164.

    I’d have to recommend..

    Start Edale
    Up Mam Tor
    Rushup Edge
    Pennine BW / Mount Famine into Hayfield
    out of Hayfield via Snake Path
    Past Kinder Res to Oaken Clough
    Down Jacobs Ladder back into Edale

    About 18 miles, but will take you AT LEAST 3 hours I’d suggest. This is pretty much a classic Peaks loop and a number of sources would advise you to do it the other way climbing Jacobs Ladder first – I’d disagree though, but that’s a debate for another thread!

    I’m no photographer, but this is just one of those times when you point and shoot and get a great picture..imho!

    Got some G30’s for mine and they’re pretty good as an all round lens. Similar to the Vr28 but a touch lighter I think. They are apparently Golf specific but they seem to work for MTB’ing pretty well if you ask me.

    As above, I’d be tempted to sell it all on Ebay and just go 10 speed. I’ve done the same recently. bought new XTR shifters, mechs, chainset, chain and cassette(XT)for about £600 with CRC 10% discount. Got about £550 for the old 9 speed XTR stuff in total…

    Yeah, by ‘granny’ I mean a 22 chainring.

    As to the why? Lighter, better ground clearance, fewer rings to replace, less faff with front mech set up – all for what appears to be a very similar spread of gears. Yeah, so you probably will lose top end, but then I’m not planning on time trialing on a 140mm full susser.

    Just bumping this up. Has anyone ridden the Red loop here? just been reading the info on the 29er demo day it seems to refer to a number of red loops? Worth a look or not?

    There was a loop in MBR a few years back which was ok. However, it did this BW as a climb but it’s a superb descent so I’d try and include it…

    I’m going to give him the benefit of the doubt and just assume he’s forgotten his decimal points.

    Should read ‘cost £60.00 to build starting bid £20.00’

    The ending for NCFOM is a bit err what?! But true to the novel apparently. Not sure if that makes it any better or not?!

    Unstoppable 9/10

    Thought it would be honk, but was absolutely gripped! Disengange brain, sit back and watch things go bang. Gotta love Denzel as well.

    Didn’t realise that as it’s still a 1 1/8th fork. Must be some sort of reducer race with the headset then

    S_J

    Bit confused by this, the headtube on the E120 is a standard 1 1/8th so you can’t run a tapered fork on that frame. Surely all you need is a new crown race?

    Loads of FSA spares here. Pretty sure any of the 1 1/8th races will work.

    Just got my 2010 Floats back from Mojo following the Kashima upgrade – you can see the difference in the two finishes below. When I spoke to them on the phone they actually told me that they had to change the uppers they were going to fit as there was some ‘discolouration’ to the Kashima finish on the original parts that were picked. It might be that the earlier batches weren’t consistent?? Superb service from Mojo as usual, just like getting a new set of forks back. thumbs up guys!

    1 1/8th CSU now in the classifieds if you’re still interested??

    Given that it took me 12 hours to complete it one way, this is just an incredible achievement. Seriously well done, we’re not worthy!

    Tyres for Thetford – a simple equation

    Dry = F – RR R – RR
    Damp = F – NB R – RR
    Wet = F – DD R – NB

    To my mind, as it’s £100ish plus postage just for a service (postage is free with the upgrade), I’m happy to pay the extra for the upgrade, which for me is running the correct size steerer tube as well as the blingy coating so it’s worth doing. As a purely cosmetic exercise I’m not so sure though.

    Are they Kashima?? because the one’s I’ve got a the mo aren’t…

    I’ve done it twice in a day both times west to east and I’d say the best descents are coming the other way, given that I’ve not actually done them this is based purely on perception from going up them! However, wind direction really needs to be the primary issue as a head wind for a 100 miles is no fun!

    Grimy, whereabouts on the down tube do you clamp it??

    The above post is spot on. On my Anthem I can barely tell whether Pro-Pedal is on or off it makes that little difference. On my 575, however, it’s essential if you actually want to go uphill in any sort of efficient manner!

    Got my bleed tool on Ebay. Turned up within a couple of days. Still says they’ve got five left as of this morning.

    Re rotors, I bought some RT76’s even though I’d just invested in some Hope Floating Rotors for the old M4’s. Gotta say that the new set up is miles ahead of the M4’s in terms of performance.

    Anybody know how the Ice tech rotors are different to the RT76’s? They look the same but are a lot spendier.

    Got mine today. One thing to note is that I didn’t get a rear IS mounting adaptor for mine so I had to re-use stuff I already had. I think most people have recevied a rear IS adaptor with theirs?? I also got two sets of olives and inserts despite ordering another set seperately, which was a bit of a waste of £4.

    As DezB says, really easy to fit and swap the hoses over. I cut my hoses down and didn’t bother with the burping technique as I never have done before, and they seem fine. Really powerful right from the off. Should be awesome once their bedded in.

    Oh, and I did get a mug!

    I’ve jumped on the bandwagon as well! Couldn’t resist at those prices.

    I’m assuming the adaptors haven’t changed to mount the calipers? Hoping to re-use the Shimano ones I’ve got already

    The first full susser I ever lusted after! Mint Sauce rode a purple and black one so it had to be uber cool

    Also turns out to be one of the worst bikes ever made by all accounts! Good job I couldn’t afford one.

    This is officially the best thread ever!

    Nice to see a post about the ‘good old days’ of mtb that has made me smile, as opposed to some of the other rubbish that’s been posted on this forum over the past week!

    A built up that exact spec a couple of months ago and used 262 for both the drive side and non-drive side(standard 3 cross pattern). Worked fine.
