If your skills are a little lacking come to sunny mid Wales for a 2 day skills course…www.forestfreeride.co.uk then have the rest of the week exploring the area.

Theres plenty of there and back stuff, both biking and walking. Plynlimon is just over the hill, a nice out and back epic from here is over the Plynlimon range, down through Nant Yr Arian. Overnight around Devils Bridge and ride back the next day.

Consider going tubeless and get some kind of chain device (if you haven’t already got one)

    Hiya Nichola

Put the chain into the middle gear on the front.

Now get the chain onto the smallest cog on the rear, use the H adjusting screw to line the rear mech jocky wheels up with the smallest cog, so the chain is running in a straight line.

Get the chain onto the biggest gear on the back and repeat above using the L screw.

The stops are now set, next slacken the cable tension off to the rear mech. Then start to reapply tension while trying to change gear (up and down) you might find that the difference between smooth shifting and not is only takes half a turn or so.

Hope that helps, if not then we’re running one day MTB maintenance courses this year along with everything else we do http://www.forestfreeride.co.uk

Keep the group shelter…getting someone with a broken leg into a survival bag isn’t fun and keeping a group together in one shelter keeps them happier. Gaffa tape is a must, I’ve patched up more shin/leg injurys with gaffa tape than with anything else.

Am I right in thinking entry into the forest isn’t overly cheap anyway…so taking that into account I’d willingly pay £35 and maybe a bit more but I would agree with Coffeeking that a reduced rate for non racers would be a big bonus, obviously they wouldn’t get the freebies.

Good luck with it al,l I’m looking forward to it…whatever it is ;o)

Must be busy, I ordered a frame Sunday night, as of last night it was still processing…never mind, it’ll stop me building it when I should be plumbing in an Aga!

IMO Konas often seem underspeced at a given price than other brands.

I wear SPY Magneto goggles, no problems with spares and never suffered with fogging up. Not stupidly expensive either.
