First thing I would do, is check the Atic floor can take the weight.

Buying wood in small quanties, such as the 15kg bags is an expensive way of running it, if you are planning to have it going most evenings this time of year.

& a new user/burner uses a stack of wood in the first year 😉

I burn evenings only & get through 2 tons of seasoned wood a year, which takes up quite a bit of space, more than you think anyway.

Collecting wood is very addictive, once you have a burner to play with 😉

[edit]Ash is king if you can get it…

For my money you need a splitting maul for the big stuff, and a hatchet for the kindling.
Neither need to be good quality, Id rather have something I can leave out in the rain, so for me its a fibreglass shaft for the maul, and a cheap steel shafted hatchet for the kindling, and dont keep it sharp, it’ll be more prone to sticking when splitting kindling, and more likely to do damage if you catch your fingers.
You can abuse them for years, and get a Gransfors small forest axe if you want a nice one for other jobs.

    So it looks like..

    1,000,000,000,000.00?

What’s our current population? Well the bit that counts, 65 mill?

So does that make it £16,129 and threepence hapenny each then?

My neighbour does not work, so it might work out a little bit higher than that, sorry.

Surely Eddie ‘The Eagle’ Edwards has got to feature on this list.

(And to a much much lesser extent, Eric ‘The Eel’ Moussambani)

I had the great pleasure to meet Eddie ‘The Eagle’ in Cheltenham once, while dinning in a well known fast food outlet, he took his fame in his stride and brushed his olympic ski jumping experience off with a slurp of his milkshake with the words ‘if I weighed 20lbs less at the time, I would have been in the medals!’ that and ‘if I had some boots that fitted too, that would have helped’

    Top quality Brit. nutter 😉

My wifes father did chase me with a axe once, so have a sinking feeling I would indeed be dead & before I could do the deed in return too…

For kindling something light, so you can tap away quicky all day long with.

sorry mcmoonter, you seem to have gone to a lot of effort to make something that tbh, only a parent could love 😉

On the other hand, Inns has made something that looks neat and functional without the need for triangles.

btw my log pile is no looker too, so I know what its like to have an ugly log store 😉

The owner of the dog is described as a white male, aged approximately 38 to 40 years old, with cropped blond hair.

They had left the scene when the Metropolitan Police and London Ambulance arrived.

    Responsible dog owner that!

Bren – the farm my family come from is still run by people we know as a poultry farm. there is a fox earth on the farm, the owners refuse to allow the hunt on the land. there is no issue with poultry being taken

Same as the farm I used to work on, we never lost any poultry or lambs to foxes for all the years I worked there.

There was more than enough food left about for foxes that they did not need to come bother our stock.

Our boss also banned fox hunting from his land, mostly because of the mess the followers used to leave.

I bet you felt smug and ‘I told you so’ after that s

Funnily enough, yes at the time, but no in the end!

The boss who was very good at his job, went off sic with wiplash & stress & the owners son took over!

I ended up leaving being kicked a month latter, all got quite messy tbh

refuse to get in a car with him driving and explain to your bosses why

I have done the same in the past, my boss in the end took my place in the car & lived to regret it as the driver then went on to rear end a lorry 10min. latter 😉

    How tall are you Hock?

    Ive owned a 16″ & 18″ 26 inbreds & 18″ 29er inbred.

Being 5-9 puts me between a 16&18 frame, the 18″ 29er Inbred did feel too big for me, would love to try a 16″ 29er mind.

Guess I prefer the way a smaller frame flicks about.

[edit] love the on-one carbon 29er forks btw

    It certainly *feels* more efficient

Agree, I messed about last year by adding a rear mech, 8 spd cassette and shifter (all XT) to my SS bike [cries of horror] & tbh went back to SS after a week or so, ss just felt more efficient, plus the fact I am so cack handed with gears anyway 😉

Tell her the truth, and chastise her for such shoddy craftsmanship! Then tell her she owes you a replacement under warranty!

Nice idea Mrs Toast, but I fear she is a bit young to understand the ‘kids made goods must be kept on the fridge act’ just yet 😉

At the age of 43 I should be able to work out how these things are made! 😯

Or group of night riders is dwindling at the moment, we have gone down from a pack of 6 to 3 recently, mostly due I am sure to the muddy wet conditions & we have not seen any real icy/snowy weather here in the midlands yet, which always makes or local stuff a little more exciting 😉
