Years back a group of friends decided to buy Mad Bull for xmas, we had 8 racing together ever other month, all over the country, great excuse to meet up, have a few beers & break each others cars 😉

It all got a bit silly, with all the hop up parts you could get for them, some of the group spent a fortune tuning them up. Funny thing was, the cars that used to win all the time were the standard cars without the bling motors and suspension 😉

    Great fun…..

Have you tried the NHS direct line dan1980?

If it is something, sort of urgent, they might be able to book you into your local priamry care unit?

Paul its also worth checking the chain tension in a few places as you rotate the crank, as not all setups are 100% true.

That’s a bit like saying a future classic film has to be succesful at the box office. Or available in HMV in the sale.

    No, just affordable, that’s all

I could (in theory) go out tomorrow and buy a Ferrari 355 for 30k, same price as a new mid spec Elise. It would cost me the same to tax as my pick-up and I could probably insure it for reasonable money on a limited usage policy.

Well in theroy then a Ferrari 355 could be a classic for you then.

    That’s my point 🙄

LOL, 3 pages of chilled car talk – sweet, is that a record?

Bet Surf Matt is itching to get his teeth into this one 😉

Just a quick one, a future classic car for me, has to be something reasonably affordable, for the avarage car nut.

My vote would be for the Lotus Elise, got to be a future classic

I had an old Renault 18 estate, which was sad in itself.

Used to park it in the same carpark every day for work & started to notice slighty strange thing going on when I used to go back to it after work!

It started with silly things like the drivers seat, being set slightly far back, or the inside mirror, being pointed down, tape in the cassette player being changed, etc.?

Over the weeks it got more bizzar, I would find it parked the opisite way round to the way I parked it, then a few days latter, it would be parked a few spaces to the left of where I parked it.

Once I even got a ticket for parking it in ANOTHER car park without a ticket!

The last straw was finishing work one day, to find it missing from the car park!

So I called the police to report it stolen, only to get home to find it on my driveway!

A few years latter a so called mate told me he had got a spare key cut without me knowing and had been pranking me for months!

    😉

pull over to let them pass

When its safe to do so, the above works for me, too.

Give up on trying to teach other drivers how to correct their bad ways & work on driving as safe as possible.

At the age of 17, two weeks after passing my test, in a Morris Minor, going pretty much flat out at 50mph in a 60mph limit, had a guy tailgate me. When he found a space long enough he overtook me giving me the finger as he passed.

    Two miles down the road…….

In a 30mph limit, the same driver was out of his car by the side of the road, having a right telling off for speeding by a PC, so I slowed right down and smiled as I returned the finger, even the PC laughed 😉

On my 26′ SS inbred, I run 32:18, round my hilly routes, on my inbred 29er I am running 32:20.

Both setups will be spintastic on the flat mind, but I gear my stuff for the climbs 😉

The 29er is getting more use than my old 853 26′ inbred, which I thought was going to out live me!

Neighbours E92 M3 seems to cope just fine. Proper winter tyres though and good driver might help a bit…

    Good point mmannerr

Many moons ago as a 17 year old working on a farm, I pulled a well known rally driver out of a ditch in his 4×4 rally Cosworth car thing with my tractor.

He had let a friend of his have a spin in the snow & the driver had dumped it on the first bend he had come to 😉

Not a big car/rally fan tbh, but watching this pro drive off and set the car up for the bends was amazing to watch.

You got a Badger that drives now! 😯

Saying that, I have been trying to take a picture of a badger in the wild for years now.

There are 4-5 sets near my place & often see them about at night, but never managed to photograph one yet 😉

Driving home late at night, through a narrow remote country lane, came round a tight bend and was greeted by a group playing cricket on the road! by frigging torchlight!

All kitted out in whites, had filders scatered all over the place, four ctates of beer as stumps!

God knows how many balls they lost…

Most modern cars are reliable if they have been serviced and looked after, well compared to what cars were like in the 70’s & 80,s 😉

    My advice would be…

Get up early and buy your local paper, dont worry about the model too much, avoid anything flash or owned by a young driver ;-), look for a one owner & good service history & haggle haggle haggle, motorway miles are good miles.

Never had an expensive car, always gone the cheap route myself, if you know a mechanic take him/her with you.

I imagine they got the LH crank off and then couldn’t get the axle out the BB and then didn’t refit it properly.

    That sounds like what happened…

How old is the BB & who fitted that?

MX5, you should be able to pick up a Jap import for that sort of money this time of year 😉

Might even make on it, if you sell it in the summer?

    the seller is a business

    😯

Very slack for a business, you could go down the enforce the contract route, but it might be long winded.

If you are set on having the bike, it might be worth trying to speak to the business owner over the phone & see if you can come up with a price?

But I fear you might just have to walk away & get on with your life.
