Got one in medium and I love it .I have plus size tyres on mine there’s some pics of it on the 650b+ thread .Very capable going down the steep stuff but all depends on what you want it for.
A friend of mine has just built up a new Solaris which is lovely and probably what I would suggest if you wanted something similar the parkwood which I also used to have.

Turned it back in to a 29er the only tyres that had any sort of resonable clearance were trailblazers on a 25mm id rim but dont think they are really suitable for British weather i.e wet !! Also I thought plus tyres on a mid travel full susser was a bit overkill really unless your always riding very rough trails . I had a go on a mondraker crafty plus at the weekend and was left with the same impression. In my opinion they are far better suited to a nice hardtail like my bigwig

So ive finally found a set of tyres im happy with .Had some pretty horrible muddy wet weather down here in cornwall and the 3.0 NN and RR in my bigwig have coped just fine which means there’s a 2.8 NN and a trimmed down ground control from my experiments with the codeine in the classifieds if anyone is looking for one.

Running a standard rc 140mm pike with 25mm id rims so tyres are not as wide as they could be .And sorry no more pics of chainstay clearance till wednesday evening but very similar to seat stays as the frame has been designed for 3″ tyresDSC_0936 by RYAN KENT, on Flickr[/img]DSC_0929 by RYAN KENT, on Flickr[/img]

I’ve had a Parkwood as well and this is quite a different beastie , it reminds me of a cotic bfe and doesnt pedal uphill too bad considering its got a 64.5degree head angle .I wouldn’t suggest going shorter than a 140mm fork if using 650b+ wheels as i’ve already had a few pedal strikes using 170mm crank.

All mountain style frame protection kits from hookit products are worth a look if your after something other than the standard 3M tape diy kits.

Same here, as much as I like my codeine in plus size format it is an awful lot of bike for the majority of riding that I do and coupled with the fact that the wheels are in a frame not specifically designed for them, and for that reason I’m going to put them in a frame better suited to them a long low slack steel hardtail!!

What forks are ppl running these 2.8″ to 3″ on? Does it need to be plus specific or will 29er forks work?

I’ve yet to find a 3″ tyre on a 25mm id rim that wont fit in a standard 29er pike.

So before i had the NN on ,ive always tried to have matching brands when it comes to tyres. Previous to the schwalbes i had a purgatory and a ground control 3.0 but didn’t feel happy with the clearance but did like the grip of the purgatory which i think is a better option for a front .so what i have done is ordered a 3.0 NN from merlin in trailstar compound. just got back from a quick blast and im happy with it ,so i have a 2.8 NN spare .Hope all that make sense

If anybody is thinking about a NN 2.8 you might want to have a look in the classifieds

So ordered my NN 2.8 from Germany on Sunday evening and they turned up today in proper schwalbe boxes. popped them on and went out for a quick bimble around my local trails in deepest darkest dampest Cornwall .First thing was clearance, definitely a lot better in the codeine than the specialized offerings ,they came up at 69mm tread width on a 25mm id rim.
The most surprising thing about them was how well they rolled very impressive for what looks like a quite aggressive tread pattern .Grip wasn’t quite as good as the purgatory but very close (think that might of been pressures) Also with the tread blocks being so far apart it did seem to handle the slop particularly well .
And finally the weight a definite improvement here the bike felt a lot more responsive. but we will have to see how those side walls hold up over the next few weeks !!

I found some showing in stock at bike-components.de, ordered last night so if you want to wait till the end of the week I could put up some dimensions. I’m kinda hoping they are somewhere between a trail blazer and a ground control.

OP I’m the same height as you and had a go on a medium 275 soul at the weekend. Did feel a little long for my tastes .I’ve found Cotic sizing recommendations tend to be spot on.

@alexh it certainly is just that.
Felt extremely confidence inspiring last night in the muck and slop .And even though there’s very little clearance in the back ive still not had any frame rubs . The ground control feels a lot draggier compared to the TB but i have no complaints about the purgatory. Might just leave it like this for the winter and wait till a few more manufacturers release their efforts .And if its any help to anybody both the Purgatory and Ground Control 3.0 measured up at 2.9 inches on a 25mm internal rim.

Here’s my codiene with a purgatory in the front and a trimmed ground control running in the back .Purgatory far superior to the TB i was running and haven’t been out with the ground control yet will update when i have.DSC_0845 by RYAN KENT, on Flickr[/img]

Think the parkwood was only released mid 2014 so shouldn’t be out of warranty. My one cracked in a very similar place and I had no problems getting a warrantied replacement.

Oh yeah, and are we talking 33lbs for the large codeine? Is that with dropper post, tubeless and pedals? I know some people recon it’s around 30.5lbs but not sure if that’s the higher spec version

Just measured my medium lower spec version with reverb, tubed chunky monkeys both ends, nukeproof electron evos and carbon knuckleball bar at 32.6 lbs.

Does the shock even have a climb switch?
Doesn’t need one. Designer a genius.

Having just upgraded my 28lb Parkwood for a 33lb Codeine and matched or beaten all of my local PB’s going downhill as well as uphill, i would have to agree.
