I have superstar nanotechs or something like that. Look exactly the same as those except I bought mine last year. They’ve been great, solid performer with rather long pins

I have mine in my room, probably the same noise level as one of those generic business form factor desktops. Stick in in your loft and just remote to it if your fussed about the noise.

You could easily script it to shutdown at a certain time. Not played with WoL but I would imagine its supported.

I use mine as an SMB/Plex server. Got it back when you got the £100 rebate so I’d have a look as to whether thats going on anywhere, the disk isnt great, you only get a 250gb with it so I’d factor that in in your decision.

Was quoted £40 for it to be blasted and powder coated. That was for a hard tail. Dont forget to factor in new decals though!

Thanks tomo and everyone for your replies.

I called up and they were cheap but I also rang the LBS and they recommended garie Bevan. Took it down got to see all the colours and Dave said he had the perfect colour for me, might have it by the end of the week. They also said they do loads of frames and that they have all the plugs for BB HT etc. Looking forward to it!

Was cool to get to see all the painters and weird smokey wall sucky outy bits 😀

@mtbtomo would you recommend them then? Color selection good? I go to uni there so it may well be a good consideration.

+1 for upside down. If you just watch and dont make edits VLC easily allows you to rotate 180° for easy viewing

May I suggest a bike/living space overhaul? I know its rather glum and rather stereotypical of something to say on this forum but re organising my living space and a full strip and regrease of the bike always really cleanses my soul 🙂 why is it that you dont feel attractive/love yourself?

Make time with your friends! They’ll be great support through it and take the time to appreciate that their there for you at this difficult time!

I’m on the diet that worked well for my friend. There are 2 rules, eat less + move more. I try not to have naughty snacks but I still have a yard of Jaffa cakes from Christmas!

On the plus side went for a 5 mile run the other day and the lactics stills stuck in my legs… *sigh*

I don’t like the thought of the bionicon. I’m no singlespeeder but I just think theres too much to go wrong.

Good luck with the SX. Always wanted one, never could find one in L though!

Could be selling my Solaris frame shortly. It’s the green one in a large. I fancy a 29+ Surly Krampus next.

    Interestingly, how tall are you?

Off on a tangent but I’m always ready to chirp in on this. The problem with age regulations are the double standards that are employed. Go to the shop for some beers “sorry can I see your ID as you don’t look over 25?”. Try and show the ticket man at the barrier the discounted rail ticket you bought “can I see your railcard as you don’t look under 25?”

If your going to have age restrictions on products have it done by Mr Branson, he does everything 🙂

scanner darkly! Be careful with him and the movies. I started young with movies that were mature and serious (basically the good stuff), I think it made me realise how little time we spend on the planet a little too soon in my life…

I rave about mine, spec is awesome. I took the plunge and went for the VFM route, came up trumps because I love riding it. However I have nothing to compare it to as its the first FS. Also with sizing it didnt matter, its for DH and I took the biggest one they had because of my gangley legs!

I wish I’d bought one of these instead of the Sunn that I bought, which ultimately broke…

My mate had a Sunn Radical, when I asked him how it was he said “It radically broke”

If the former, I would suggest looking for a role that’s going to get you desirable technical experience and skills, not just bog standard desk top/server/infrastructure support ones which are easy to outsource and common as muck.

I would like to be in management but I’m not all for the project management side of things. What I’d like to do is be in a technical role and work my way up, rather than lose all that I’ve trained for and made my passion to become a project manager, I think my ultimate goal is most probably consultancy/solutions architect.

Having come from a school/LA background I wouldn’t go that way if I was you, especially if you ever want to move to corporate, it’s a big step across unless you have specific skills that are needed. The corporate world just don’t like education jobs on your CV.

I’d be looking to move in to a role that will give you some broad experience of a corporate IT world which will let you see if there is one thing you’re either naturally good at or enjoy more than the others before choosing a specialty. I know a few who have just gone the Cisco route as it normally brings in good money but hate the sight of a command line now.

Plus general support experience will broaden your CV and backup the degree.

Thanks somouk! They were great experiences though, like you said I am working to hopefully go into a company.

What does your 2 years of support experience entail – what were you supoorting/what level/how many users/what sort of organisation ?

I’ve had 1 year doing helpdesk support at a college of ~2000 students+staff in a team of 6. We had a new building built so I got to move and install hardware, patch into switches etc. I didn’t have much responsibility but I was straight out of college and the team taught me a LOT.

My second year was at a high school where I had more responsibility, AD/WEB/Windows admin/backups/Switch+patching/Imaging services/support, The list goes on as I basically supported anything with a plug attached! It was a small team (me and the network manager), again I learnt a lot from him.

As much as I enjoyed working at the school I wouldn’t particularly choose to work at another, the lack of funding for equipment was absolutely atrocious.

If I’d just finished Uni I’d take a year out and drink lots of beer/ride my bike a great deal.

    Your welcome.

This would be perfect, however, me and my girlfriend have plans which this would heavily disrupt!
