I’ve just bought shimano brakes and they sit directly on the mount, guess if you shim it up with some of the Avid cup and cone spacers you could bodge it. Honestly though just buy the shimano rotors, I’ve tried to bodge mine to fit my Hope rotors and its just not working.

    I don’t think that’s something I want to watch…

sticky pistons are normally caused by the surface of the piston bore (the in/out face) degrading over time, it can easily develop scoring from running with sticky seals caused by the corrosive nature of DOT fluid and perhaps an imbalanced caliper centre over the disc brake rotor – this means 1 piston is working harder as its compensating for the offset position of the caliper

its actually very normal for DOT brake system to degrade over time, the solution if you have the resources is to rebuild the brake by draining fluid, splitting the caliper in half, removing old piston and seals, fitting new pistons and seals with DOT rebuild silicon grease, refilling the system, bleeding trapped air and installing to the bike

    thanks for the help!

I enjoy the tinkering (there is a limit though), and I am jobless at the moment.

Does the tweeks kit have all of the correct new seals?

    Ta!

I have a turbine, nice piece, not 60mm though. I have the 70mm, rather bling, mines a bit creaky but I suspect its my own doing (need a torque wrench).

Mountain bikes are a bad idea at the moment, too much uncertainty about wheel sizes and fear of trails coming alive (and presumably consuming me like a giant tongue?). Not wanting to invest in the betamax of MTB (thanks combined shifters/ levers preventing V brake uptake and QR wheel set limiting fork options) I’d sell all my kit, buy a vintage track bike and some mismatched carbon rims and hang out at the track for a few years working your dream job. Then quit, buy a 26′, flat barred, aluminium (its the next niche) framed 3×8 geared mtg and then ride BW’s following paper maps in the Hills.

    Best advice I’ve ever received!

I do see the benefits of living there. Me and her always agreed no to it, that’s why I think she’s rather miffed that I’m considering it. She would move, its just not to London. Have other offers from other companies, its just this role seems to be the pick of the litter.

If you’re young, early 20s, then that’s not the time to be inflexible about where you can and cannot work (appreciate if you’re older you may have more on your plate).

Its not that I’m inflexible it’s that I draw a line across milton keynes. Wait, that’s being inflexible….

You won’t be the only one working in London in the week and travelling home at weekends.

Depends on how long you and your partner can keep that up for though, I give it 2 years before either one of you freaks out.

That lifestyle must be weird though? Having somewhere just to sleep during the week, then going back up north for two nights?

    It will be a lie.

Don’t believe a single word that comes out of their mouths – as bad as (if not worse than) estate agents, in my experience.

(except for one person at my current agency, who actually seems capable of stringing together two words without either of them being a lie).

    Dave

Talking from experience? They do seem very sharkish/salesmany

I had a phone interview, the companies a big player in my industry. Shame about the location.

Looks like a nice trail too. Can’t imagine the the density of the trees allow you to go too fast (for me anyways :-)).

I always go over situations like this, there’s not really anything you could do if you caught them, they’d just deny it to the end of the earth. Like other people have said it can have such horrific consequences. Can’t imagine how badly we’d be portrayed if we laid traps for them/horses

I’m your height. I bought a YT Tues last year, 605mm TT, feels rather compact. The newer ones are longer though (3mm).

    What chakaping said!

Tbh, this would sound barking, but, unless you feel like your heading up to Fort Bill anytime soon, just get a long travel 650/29er.

Have you thought about an empire MX6-EVO? 1K, brand new, 26 with the bonus of 650b compatibility for futureness. That was going to be the frame I bought if I somehow fell out with my BFe.

Ask them nicely again, then move on if nothing. As Jamie says take the refurb and sell it.

You’ll soon see posts about 2 year EU tech laws etc but you’ll not get anywhere with that with mobile phones, and the cost of pursuing a small claims court settlement would at very best leave you with a new phone and costs of more than the new phone would cost.

UK sale of goods act actually gives a ‘reasonable time’ or up to 6 years to return faulty goods. If it was less than 6 months old it’s easier to prove a fault as the onus is on them to prove it was not faulty at manufacture, you now have to prove it was faulty, but the only real way of playing hardball with them is small claims and you won’t get your costs or time and stress back even if you won – so there’s no real point in going down the legal route.

Thanks nick, I was never thinking of SCC, I’m really happy with the phone overall. It seems I’m just testing my luck! Have responded back asking about the possibility of a refund just to see if they’ll offer me something else to get out of refunding me.

I feel somewhat sorry for them as sometimes we are expected to know everything about anything which could possibly involve a computer.

It could well be that something else has gone on and its just simpler to blame it on the UPS to save having to explain everything? (I dont condone this, however they may have their reasons)

Times like that can be stressful, especially if the fault was down to legacy kit.

I have no idea what background tou are from so sorry if this is trivial.

I’m not specifically a web guy so someone may have a different (correct 😀 ) opinion.

the “www” portion is simply another domain name. Your hypothetical site of “www.mysite.co.uk” is a hostname, but so is “mysite.co.uk” I’d imagine that whatever you/people use for DNS will redirect those who input “www.mysite.co.uk” to “mysite.co.uk” as both of those hostnames will be associated to the same IP.

Sorry if that wasn’t very clear, as I said I’m not specifically web
