While we’re here, do your pads have much rotational play in them?

Wilko I’d more than happily buy that zocc shock off you! I *need* it to match my 350CR.

Are you looking for flats? Shimano have a new line. AM7 is the new flat shoe.

There was a thread on this recently. I ride an XL commencal meta, very long.

I can’t at all recommend Cleeve in the winter, you ride on clay. Why bother?

Go to Leckhampton, it can’t be worse.

Thanks for the replies guys, its great to know that others have the same worries.

I think it’s mainly come up because I’ve got my confidence back with riding and I’m where I was at last year, if not further.

Just have to try and have ‘tactical’ crashes 🙂

I don’t understand why they’re so bad. It’s easily solved. I only think it’s a language barrier. Solution: have them continue to deal with most of Europe, but have the US deal with us/anyone who’s first language is English.

I think commencal are competing in this…

Is it a case of call my lbs and ask them to find out? Just looked on the Madison twitter, no mention of stock coming in.

And based on STW it helps if you are called Graham

I was expecting that response to be from GrahamX.

As you mention sprints I’ll assumed you are using Scrum, many you could suggest doing some pair programming – this is another agile methodology here you and a coworker said a computer to work on a problem together.

I think this would most definitely help me, my colleagues are quite old school with their development but I think I need to try and push this next sprint planning.

It can be difficult to learn something while trying to deliver at the same time, learning often involves going back to the start rather than going forwards. If its a new language I usually try to buy a book and read it when I have time as I always find that better than online learning. Books usually seen better thought out

I don’t know whether I can apply this properly, though thanks for the help. I think I’m lacking in software design principles (e.g. do this this way because its the most efficient), as opposed to ‘you can do this this way in Java’.

    What are you struggling with?

Following the logic? The language? General concepts? Design?

I don’t think I have much problem with the language I use. It seems to be translating what is expected from my particular implementation into actual software.

I think a very general process for me is: Try and progress, fail, try and fix + try and attempt different solutions to the failure (seems to be where the bulk of my time goes), give up and ask for help, someone comes and shows me where I was wrong, then instantly hit another problem and the cycle continues. I just don’t seem to get much success/satisfaction.

I’ve just paid the earth for an XL mk1, as they didn’t do XL themselves, now they’ve gone and released them in XL! And its slacker 🙁

I’ve swayed towards the 350CR as it seems that if I do need anything doing then I’m going to be able to warranty them. They seem to be the best option for the price point too.

I’m sure they’ll look beautiful on my bright yellow Meta.
Well, they also come in black. I’d still have them in red though!

    You’ve got me there….

I’d take a punt on the Mattocs, unlikely to go wrong based on user reports. Did I mention they also come in a gorgeous red and ride better than Pikes?

Go in the middle with a lovely Mattoc Pro? They’re ace.

I’d like to, however can’t help that buying from non-UK would lead to me being up the creek when it comes to getting them warrantied.

Put the 200 quid towards sending the marzocchi for warranty replacements when the stanchions wear . Or so I’ve heard

I bought some pikes from the pinkbike guy (bikebitz) and they are legit (and great!)

How are you getting on with them? Do you get a ‘proper’ invoice? Are they UK warranty-able?

Now the euro/dollar exchange rate has taken a hit, Ze Germans aren’t all that much cheaper than UK prices.

    ?

I’m thinking he means that the Germans have had to put their prices up as they’re having to pay SRAM more money because of the conversion from EUR to USD.

Thanks teethgrinder, I’ll try and have a look for a smaller looking hifi thing. I’ve not got any trouble with the files, I imagine i’ll just have it start playing and record onto the tape!

Am I right in thinking it’s a £2.1k bike with pretty cheap wheels? Maybe I’ve found the wrong bike searching for it, but why is this amazing value? Apologies if I have the wrong end of the stick here.

Although they don’t seem to want to confim that they have sent me the following bike, it is what I ordered, and its since been taken off the site (I think I got the last one, they only had XL and it showed as out of stock once I’d ordered it).

The bike came to €2666, which converted to £1950 according to my bank.

    A rough spec:

Guide Brakes (meh, but yeh)[/*]

RCT3 Pikes[/*]

Monarch RT3 Shock[/*]

Tubeless wheelset[/*]

Maxxis Ardent F Maxxis HRII R[/*]

Raceface Evolve chainset[/*]

Sram X9 groupset with E13 42T expander[/*]

KS Lev dropper[/*]
Thought that was pretty good value for a brand new bike (5 year warranty) with an awesome review.

also torn between specing the kirk and Monarch plus. The Kirk is meant to be great but any comments on the Monarch plus? I’m looking for a shock that provides a lot of rear support and not ploughing through its travel.

I thought about this. I just went for whatever shock comes with the complete build. You can get a monarch plus for £250 from bike-discount.

just seems they decided to not offer a carbon version rather than let the customer decide.

Won’t get into the recent standards war then.

Pics will follow. Providing that I end up with the spec I ordered, it seems I might have bought the last one of that spec and size. Basically it was that good a deal, I’m not confident I’m going to get what I ordered!

I’ve ordered a load of heli tape and plan to do a homemade invisiframe, since they don’t seem to do one for the V4.

I’m not in all that tall, about 6’5″, but its all in my legs. So I don’t find the constant pressure below my kneecaps from the seat in front all that much…

You don’t have to go on the plane. But I’m not without doubt that they’ll put someone with bad bowels/bladder near the toilet for free, they don’t have to go on the plane either.
